  1. Big NSV

I've gone from barely fitting a 3x to fitting into a 1x. It's like a whole clothing world is opening up. I shop at stores like Burlington and Ross and I feel like the plus size selection is sparse for 2X and up.

It's also kind of bittersweet. I'm getting off all of this weight that I've gained since having 2 kids and I'm learning that my body composition is.... Different. The biggest part of my body has always been my butt and thighs. My stomach is now the largest area. I'm still thrilled with the changes! Just learning to dress a new body type!

  3. I'm nervous but I think I'll get through it. My mom and I aren't cooking this year for the family (too expensive and dont want the mess) and I procrastinated on dinner reservations so we're trying something different and ordering a catered meal for the 7 of us. My absolute favorite is my moms sausage stuffing and I'm not having that this year so I banking on that helping me through.

  4. I have double coverage too. They sent the bill to the first insurance like 2 weeks after the procedure and then to the 2nd insurance a week or two after that. How it worked for me was the first insurance paid everything but the deductible and then the 2nd insurance paid the deductable of the first insurance and no other costs came out of it. I'm sure they all work differently but that's just how mine processed 🤷🏽‍♀️

  5. I had surgery 10/8 and it took me 10 days and the help of a laxative to go. It was probably a combination of lack of Water, lack of food and opioids slowing everything down. I've been taking Miralax regularly since then and things have been much better. I've always had slow bowels though and normally only go 1-2x a week.

Keep hanging in there everyone! I promise it gets better. I would kill for some fresh steamed veggies though. Everything tastes too salty or too sweet for me.

  6. ER nurse here. I thought about all the risks, but I tried not to let them get to me. I made sure I was compliant with my post OP lovenox shots though since I'm on birth control. PEs hit fast.

If anything, I think it's made certain things easier. I already know how to fix common postop ailments just from working on a surgical floor in the beginning of my career.

The biggest difficulty I've had is eating and getting fluids in at work but thatll just take time I guess.

  7. Surgery date 10/8 , down 16lbs. I hit the dreaded 3 week stall this week but the scale finally moved today. I have a total food aversion to chicken. I'm cleared to eat it but I feel horrible after doing so... nauseous, gassy and in pain. Even when its soaked in gravy.

I was trick or treating last night with my kids and drinking Water while walking. Strangely enough, water went down super easy while walking. I'm sure it was because I was mobile, but I might try to take a bottle of water on a walk now and kill 2 bbn birds with 1 stone.

  8. First 2 NSV:
I fit into a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to fit in 3 years! And they actually fit well. There was no sucking in or squeezing involved.

I was able to zip closed my north face jacket I have never been able to zip closed. I bought it last year on clearance ($20!!). I haven't been able to buy a winter jacket I could close in years (short with an oversized bottom).

  9. I've been on the nuvaring for 9 years now (minus when I was trying to get pregnant/pregnant). I like it well enough. As with many contraceptives, there is a risk for blood clots, but I'm trying to minimize them (I dont smoke and I'm trying to loose weight).

Actually birth control was one of the things that drove me to surgery. I was trying to get an iud after my son was born and the obgyn couldn't visualize my cervix well due to its placement and my level of obesity. That was like a big slap in my face to wake me up and here we are. 🤷🏽‍♀️

  10. I actually have had dumping syndrome before bypass. It occurs vary randomly and usually when I eat something sweet like a caramel chocolate bar or something of the such. I get "cold sweats" about 15 mins after eating said item along with RUQ cramps. I immediately have to get to the bathroom because diarrhea quickly follows. I hope it doesn't mean Illl dump worse with gastric bypass but it is an excellent deterrent. I usually refuse to eat the food that causes the issue for a couple months afterwards
