    TUMS

I have read through other posts regarding gerd and using TUMS for it. I had a severe case of gastritis prior to surgery and was on nexium short term and then told to use it as needed. It didnt come back until after hernia repair with sleeve. I have only had it 3 times now. My surgeon ordered prilosec now and I didnt start taking it until tonight. In the meantime while I sit awake, can I still use some tums? Thanks for any advice. Sent from my SM-T350 using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I have always had issues with sleep and take a couple of prescription medications. They helped maintain sleep through the night until now. Im only a couple of weeks postop. Now I take my medications and go to bed at 11pm and i am up by 4am. Could it be lack of activity or mental stimulation or just normally after surgery? Hiccups in the Road

I have lived in WI all of my life. I am not a WI girl. I dislike the cold, snow, lack of sunlight in the winter and the length of winter. I did go to therapy today and my husband salted everywhere nicely. When I fell, I fell on my butt, but it affected my knee, so go down on your butt and dont try to catch your fall with an arm. Then you will have an arm fracture. Sent from my SM-T350 using BariatricPal mobile app

    BM Stall

I was told to start colace and mirilax everyday when I got home. You could also use milk of magnesia. If its been at least a week with no luck, i would call the surgeons office for recommendations. I also agree the tea was discussed with my surgeon too and given the ok to use. Going back to work

I am a nurse who has a desk job at home. As any kind of nurss we ignore ourselves with meal breaks and drinking. My surgeon says if you can take off the whole time they would like, mine is 6 weeks then you should. If you have to go back early, I would want to go back half days or part time due to all the stress from the job and still being able to take care of your postop needs. 9. I am only a few wks postop sleeve but asked my surgeon if I should worry about calories. He told me at this time not to worry about calories, but to follow the rules of 1/4 cup food 3 meals per day with no snacking. One of the meals could be a protein shake. He says by the time I would be out further like you, I would be eating about 1 cup of food per meal with the main focus on protein and the amount of calories would be similar to yours. If you exercise hard, then you may need more calories, but you will be hungrier. We are suppose to have at least 60 grams of protein per day. Plus even at 9 months you shouldnt fret about your weight, your body will be changing in weight and size up to 18 months. I watch many videos by Dr Duc Vuong who is a bariatric surgeon that does informational videos on facebook and youtube. I have learned a lot from him. You may want to check it out. I dont use my fitness pal because it always says you never eat enough calories. I use the baritastic app which is similar bu focuses more on the bariatric patient whethed you had the sleeve or bypass. Hope some of this info was helpful. 10. Hi all, I am an introverted person, so it is/easier for me to write than speaking in person. I have had a couple of hiccups in the road but am still getting through them k owing they are temporary. Initially i was scheduled for VSG on 11/27. When they went to do the surgery, my blood pressure dropped so severely they were able to do my hernia repair but couldnt started the sleeve. I was in ICU overnight. Due to all of the liver manipulation my right side hurt significantly for almost 4 wks. I was so sad when I was told i didnt get the surgery. You get so excited and am so ready before, only to be let down and still have the surgical sites and pain. My surgeon felt there were a lot of variations we could do the next time to prevent this from ocurring again. My successful surgery occurred on 1/15. I felt 100% different than I did with the first attempt. After 5 days being home i was walking my 30 minutes per day...just strolling but at least more active. Then 9 days later I fell on the ice and now have a small fracture to my knee cap causing swelling, pain and the inability to walk on it without crutches. I just started PT and I work real hard at home doing my exercises. I will get through this like I got through the first unsuccessful surgery. I continue to look to the future and this new tool i was given to better my health by losing weight. Stats: 5ft5in HW 254, SW 234 on 1/25, CW 218. GW 140 Thanks for reading.
