Get a lawyer and bring up the fact she always said she didn't want money from you because they were adopted. I would not do anything or sign anything until you see a lawyer. That is a good way to get screwed. Hold your ground.

I'm 10 weeks and it keeps going and coming with the stalls. What I have noticed also is lack of going to the bathroom happens around the stall times. Once I take a laxative or Linzess which my doctor prescribed for me, after I use the bathroom, I lose the weight from the stall and keep going.. Until the next one!

My father has a force of will that is something; he does anything he puts his mind to. He quit smoking cold turkey, and when he had an injury that required him to relearn how to walk, he went on to RUN half-marathons. Now that he is retires, he lost 40-50 pounds controlling his food and exercise, and he thinks my mom should be able to fix her weight easily because he could. My mother has been diabetic since her 20's, and she has hormonal issues that affect her ability to lose weight. I have my father's drive and my mother's metabolic issues. Even when I was training three hours a day (TaeKwonDo) and lost 60 pounds, my diabetes didn't change, and I even began to gain it back while I was still earning new belts and adding cardio kickboxing to the mix.
My father won't understand why I'm doing the surgery, and my mom is so sensitive about her health that she would be self-conscious about it. I will tell them if/when I think they need to know.

Hi there. I just finished my 6 month supervised diet and I’m just waiting to hear back from insurance so I can schedule for RNY.
So far I’ve had no issue telling people my plans. Everyone at work knows. I work at a psych hospital and we have a lot of potlucks and I just figured early on there would be a lot less pressure if I told my coworkers so they’d be understanding when I wasn’t eating or going for weekly beers after work anymore. All my friends know and are very excited for me. My immediate family knows and are very supportive however....
This passed weekend we had a huge family get together with family members I haven’t seen since my mother passed almost 2 years ago.
I found myself hiding that I was going to have surgery from them. I’m not really sure why I just couldn’t tell any of them and didn’t want anyone else to tell them either.
Has anyone else had this problem? I feel like it’s weird that I can be so open with everyone else but can’t tell my family.

My surgeon suggested me to take 4 weeks, and I did. You will need every bit of that time, because your body get weak so fast. When I went back to work, I worked part time for two weeks. I use to come home and get in the bed and sleep for hours. You have to realize you had major surgery, and you just can jump back into your same routine. I am 10 weeks out from my surgery and I still get dizzy and tired when I over do it. So be careful.

Ya we’ve decided there is no way I am going back this week and I am probably taking off next week too...everyone sounds like they are recovering quickly and well but I have extreme pain sit to stand. I get my fluids in and walk but it’s been brutal.

How long is everyone taking off work? I had my surgery Wednesday and was planning on returning this Wednesday but it has been rough recovering. I’ve been spiking a fever from the pain since coming home and quickly get short of breath from the discomfort walking. I walked more than anyone on the floor while in the hospital but I have a ruptured disc and after the surgery my back was hurting as well as my tummy. I also had a hernia repaired.
I am planning on trying to go back April 30 or May 8....what did everyone else do?
I am trying to heel doing small frequent walks vs long because I think I overdid it my first days home...I can barely stand up on my own from the swelling...

Wow, that is really quick. On the advice of my surgeon’s team, I’m taking off three weeks. I will be happy to have some time to work out what I feel comfortable eating before having to bring food in with me to work. I am also crossing my fingers that I feel well enough after the first week that the time off will feel at least a little like a vacation and that I’ll be able to spend time walking outside each day. Please take care of yourselves heading back to work so soon.

I needed more than a week. It’s been 20 days since my surgery and I am just starting to be able to function without getting tired midday. I didn’t have pain, just fatigue at times. Also, trying to get my liquids, meds, and purée foods down on time feels like a full time job. Lol

I had mine March 26 and will go back April 30. Originally my surgeon said I could go back in 2weeks. Uh no. I’m a surgery nurse and my job is very physically demanding. So changed to 4weeks. However, I was not having any energy and would poop out really quickly. So then extended to 5weeks. This is my choice - I am worried about getting my Water in as I get pretty weak if not hydrated. Thankfully spoke with my boss and they are going to work with me on this issue! ( in surgery- sterile environment- no food or drinks- also can’t just leave a patient to go drink or keep water by your side) But I’m down 30lbs and feeling great!!!!

Tomorrow will be one week since my gastric bypass and cholecystectomy. I was told pre-op that I could return to work in one week. I quickly realized after surgery, as did my family and surgeon that it was unrealistic. I am still unable to get from a standing position unassisted. After experiencing such pain that continues today, I will gladly take the 2 1/2 weeks that is now recommended. I will be happy to take more if that’s what I need. You would be surprised how many movements and positions will be difficult after surgery. Totally worth it, but recovery has been harder than I expected. I thought my expectations were realistic bc I’ve been an RN for 11 years, but I was wrong. You and your surgeon can decide what is best for you. I say go back a few days “late” rather than a few days early and suffer or screw up your healing.

I was sick for a while and in pain also after surgery, so you are not alone. I'm 10 weeks and still having problems with eating and have reverted back to soft foods when the discomfort/ pain is too much. I spoke to my doctor and she's telling me it's normal and that swelling takes a while in certain people, etc...

I think the doctors are highly optimistic and very blind to the pain patients go through after surgical procedures. I was knocked out for about two weeks. I worked from home but was still in pain. I would take your time and see if you feel better after a week or so. I'm still not feeling totally normal after 10 weeks.

To be clear, I've been falling asleep after eating for a while, including before surgery. If your reactions have changed significantly since the surgery, I'd double-check with the doctor about it.

Same here. I talked to my surgeon's PA and she said it was normal. I'm honestly really grateful for it, and hope it will stay for as long as possible.

I get sleepy after eating quite often . . .
As to not being hungry, don't worry too much about that. Your appetite will probably come back at some point--it took several months for me, but mine did. I kind of miss the days when I didn't care whether I ate or not--I just tried to get my Protein in. You'll eventually be able to eat more, too.

I don’t get nauseous or churning/uneasy stomach it’s literally just noises. Really loud gurgling noises. I’m only a few days out so I’m still adjusting but I’m grateful for the lack of nausea
