  1. I had a lap-band placed in 2006. Lost about 50 lbs, then gained it all back and more. In recent years, had all sorts of problems and just wanted it out. While looking into getting it out, learned that I could do a revision and was told about SIPS.

Anyway, the first evening after surgery ( yesterday 2/14/18), I was mostly groggy and didn’t eat or drink much. Other than feeling a little crampy, not experiencing any major pain at all. I’m sure the IV is probably loaded with pain killers.

Currently, I’m sitting up and I’ve written out cards for my husband to mail, banged out more work on my dissertation as I’m going to do a virtual meeting with my advisor in about 30 minutes, and I’ve managed to get Breakfast and lunch down.

I feel really good, although my doctors said it took over 5 hours! He said that I had a ton of adhesions from a prior hysterectomy and the lap-band, so he had to clean that all the up.

I will spend another night in the hospital and hope to go home on Friday.

    Yay! It’s done!

So my dietitian and psychologist finally signed off on me to take the pre surgical classes and post nutrition classes! Woohoo its starting to be sureal. Those are my last appointments to attend in march before meeting with my surgeon.

Any who i found out we are not required to do the 2 week liquid diet prior surgery. Did any one else not have to do that as well? If so, did your drs tell you why?

Idk why but for some reason i was looking foward to doing the pre 2 week liquid diet. Lmao

My surgery is on February 14th. I was not required to do a full liquid diet. It is partial allowing for one lean and green meal per day. My BMI is 49, however, my doctor said simply they've been doing these a long time, and have refined their requirements as they've learned what worked well and what did not.

  3. I'm getting the SIPS surgery on 2/14, and I'm planning to stay low key about this as well. My husband and mom know. I will not be telling anyone else at all, maybe my kids, but not now. This is a tool that helps us to ultimately do what everyone else does that successfully loses weight and that is to eat less and exercise more. I personally don't think I have to insert for the world that, oh yeah, I got sleeved. Anyone asks me about how I'm losing weight, I'm literally telling them that I'm eating less and exercising more.

  4. I have my first consultation next week to get a lap band . I was certain that the positive results from the lap band would outweigh the negative. Now I feel scared en very unsure after reading this forum. Everything from cancer to heart problems! How can I then go ahead with such a surgery?!

I had a lap band put on in 2006. Lost very little weight because the fills were never done just right, but besides that constantly dealing with acid reflux, throwing up and more. Having revision surgery to SIPS on Feb. 14.
