  2. Question:

Is my profile picture blurry or clear?

It looks clear but very small so it is hard to know for sure.

  3. I hope everyone is doing well.

Had a wedding in Reno this last week but managed to have a good time anyway (lol)

My numbness that i thought was a pulled muscle was a rare but not unheard of side effect of rapid weight loss. It is a pinched nerve probably caused by the loss of fat around the nerve that allowed the nerve bundle to shift.

weight has been steady and holding within half a pound these last weeks so it looks like i have the correct calories dialed in for maintenance.

I can still do my treadmill time but weight lifting is off the table for now. So more lower body work and hopefully the pinched nerve will resolve with the stretching and time.

Got Scottish games to go to this weekend so looking forward to a fun if long day.

Wore a Suit for the first time in 20 years, can't say i enjoyed it but i survived the tie.

Awesome update! So glad to hear the nerve issue can resolve itself.

  4. Saw the surgeon yesterday. He is very pleased with my loss thus far. I am averaging about 10 lbs a month. Turns out my nutritionist and my surgeon have vastly differing ideas on how many calories I should be eating right now. Nut put me on 1K a day. Surgeon said nope, they are wrong, go to 800/day. Too bad I have been following what the Nut advised. I could have lost more weight already. Oh well, I will do it now! I am also going to add another day of working out to help break this stall I have been in since 8/28. I am very happy as this week I was able to get into a size XL shirt and I am wavering on pants sizes, but I am wearing a lot of size 18 that are too big or are getting too big. The inches are still dropping off nicely. I saw my parents for the first time after a long time this past weekend (they live out of state) and my Dad who never says anything gave me some super nice compliments. My sister also did...her words as we were trekking through the airport on a long upward ramp were along the lines of "Before the mind was willing but the body wasn't. Now your mind and body are in sync. Before we would have had to have stopped at least once and now you aren't even phased by this." What a great thing to have someone recognize.

Were you up here??? I am sorry I missed you. My appointment was at 1:15 so it seems we may have just missed each other!!! When do you see him for the 9 month? Maybe we could meet up and say hi!

  6. Today I hit 216 and officially weigh less than my husband. That hasn't happened ever in our relationship and I am celebrating this exciting first! Small victories like this keep me going. :D

Thank you. I was working so hard to get to this point. I wanted it so bad I could taste it. LOL

  7. So i had my 1 year follow up and i am off all supplements with the exception of a Centrum Silver.

All my blood tests were normal and my blood pressure was 107/70.

My surgeon was of course very happy with the level of weight loss and was very positive about the low carb diet i choose to live by now.

My tore tricep has left a numb section about 3 inches long by half inch wide along my tricep.

getting a referral to look at that issue.

Surgeon suggested i stop chasing the "normal BMI" but i haven't decided yet, it is the last goal i set for myself and i am so so close.

I hope all of you are having a great summer and i wish you all the success you deserve.

Great news on the follow up. The tricep issue sounds not so nice. I guess numb is better than in pain though. I have a similar issue on my right thigh - the whole top and outside of it is completely numb but I was told it is from a pinched nerve. I would think after losing 90lbs that the nerve would no longer be pinched, but nope, still numb.

You are doing awesome and are an inspiration for me!

  8. Stall is finally broken and I am losing again. Stalls suck but I understand them much better now. I am still feeling great and have kicked my workouts up a notch. I went to an arm/abs class that turned out to be all men and "me".  The dudes walked in with their 30 lb hand weights and I have my little 7.5/10 lbs and I was thinking to myself...what did I get myself into, and am I going to embarrass myself?  Well I decided to stick it out and although I couldn't do everything the dudes were doing, I did a pretty darn good job of keeping up and I am proud of myself for being able to stick with it. I decided I am going back again tomorrow and I am going to kill it again. I belong there too!

I am afraid to run as well. My left knee is bone on bone but I had to try it and see if I could actually do it. I will not be doing it on a regular basis tho. The pain in the knee is killing me today. I have done everything but have a knee replacement and nothing has helped. Doc doesn't really want me to get one at my age. He says I am too young.

It is. I have dropped quite a few inches and I fit into chairs and seats so much better. I need to take a day off work and go see if I can ride amusement rides at Six Flags! I said I wanted to be small enough to ride with my kids again. Today was exciting as I hit 219. I weight only 3 lbs more than my husband now. And get this...yesterday I ran circuits! I ran a total of 24 min on the treadmill with circuits at the 2 4 and 6 min marks. I actually RAN! I haven't run since high school. Mind you I wasn't breaking any land speed records, but I RAN!

  10. Milestone date for me on this journey. I now weigh the same as the day i got out of boot camp in 1984 and is the least i have ever weighed as an adult.

  11. Hi, this is my first post. I am almost to my surgery date of June 28th and having a lot of mixed emotions. I am trying to get things in order before I have my surgery on June 20,2018. How did you all get things prepared and how did u feel once you got close to your surgery dates?

    1. SleeveinIL

      SleeveinIL

Mixed emotions seems pretty typical to me! I can say that I was nervous about the surgery but I can say now that I am feeling better it has been one of the best decisions of my life. You've got this.

  12.  I was supposed to have a first date today (it's been at least a year since I've went on a date), but I was stood up.  I channeled my frustration into doing a new cardio and strength training video, :99_muscle: :1596_lifter_tone2: and actually made it through all 32 minutes of it!  I had sweat dripping off of me when I finished. Hopefully my efforts will be reflected when I weigh-in Wednesday morning, though finishing the workout was a non-scale victory itself!

You accomplished something in the wake of a disappointment. I call that a HUGE win!!!

  13. First day of puree diet!  I blended together four small pre-cooked meatballs with a couple tablespoons of marinara sauce and some Italian seasoning, and it was better than I expected.  I also mashed some canned carrots, but I could only eat about six or seven bites of the meatballs before I could feel myself getting full.

Wasn't it wonderful to taste real food? I did something similar with meatballs. It was one of my go to foods.

  14. so for 2nd time since WLS i have managed to hurt myself. Pulled the tricep muscle right at the top of the elbow and now even the dam coffee cup hurts.

Doc has me out of gym for 10 days and then back slowly  if i dont want to screw it up again.

Hi and welcome to the forums. I too had a lot of mixed emotions, I started to lose weight when I started with my NUT 3 mos prior to surgery and I questioned if I even needed it. I did go through with it and it was the best decision. It is very normal to feel like you are.

When you say "How did you get things prepared?" was there something in particular you are thinking about like hospital stay or family meal preparedness? I might be able to offer some thoughts, but don't want to drown you in too much info. :)

  17. So today i weighed in at 188, the same as the day i entered boot camp in 1984.

Guess that leaves my next goal to be getting to the same 170 i weighed when i left boot camp.

That truly was the best shape i have ever been in.  Funny but even then my bmi would have been listed as overweight.

I have always carried the bulk of my weight around the middle.  55" around the waist was the largest  i ever measured and that was 1 month post op before i could bring myself to look at the number.  Today that is 40"

I am truly saddened when i see the posts of people struggling  so much post op with pain or illness because i so want everyone to have the same amazing experience i have enjoyed.

We all experience this journey differently and i truly hope you all reach a goal that brings you a level of comfort and happiness that you deserve.
