  1. My only restrictions were not to drive on pain meds, as well
  2. I travel for work, so I eat out a lot. There is always something on the menu that will work. I mainly just look for lean proteins. I eat the protein and then a few bites of the veggies and starch. The biggest problem that I have is high end dining. Even though I'm not paying for it, it doesn't feel right to order a $40+ entree and eat only a couple of ounces of it. Sometime there are good appetizer or soup options, but sometimes there isn't.
  3. Please consider seeing a therapist. This is an incredibly self destructive thought process. You are young, take this time to get mentally healthy.
  4. I'm doing well! I'm down 40 lbs a 11 weeks out. I feel really good too! Weirdest thing though. Not a single person who doesn't know I've had surgery has commented on my weight loss. I'm at a quarterly meeting this week, and I definitely thought some of my colleagues would say something, not a peep!
  5. Whey protein concentrate is in the less than 1% section. I’m not sure if it agrees w me because it is different than whey protein isolate or if it in such a small amount that it doesn’t be matter
  6. I got nauseas when my stomach is empty or when I am overly full. I’ve learned to mostly avoid the overfull feeling by slowing down when I eat. He empty stomach issue is harder, because I don’t want to constantly be eating. Thankfully after a couple of weeks the empty stomach nausea faded so now it’s just a dull ache.
  7. It’s still possible that whey protein isolate isn’t the issue. Muscle Milk doesn’t contain whey, so it might be that you have eliminated whey, and not related to lactose at all. Do you consume anything else with whey protein, like powders, bars, or even Protein20?
  8. At 2 weeks post op, I hit a wall energy wise. I got a B12 shot from my surgeon's office, and my energy was back within a day or two. So if you are feeling fatigued, I'd ask about B12, as opposed to just writing it off as a normal part of recovery.
  9. Hugely variable between people. I work from home, so I technically took zero time off. My recovery was very easy, and if I had a desk job, I could have gone in 2 days post op.
  10. It's hugely variable between people. I had an easy recovery and didn't miss anytime from work, but I work from home. I could have gone into an office for a desk job 2 days post op. But I'm definitely on the low end for time off, most people need more time than that.
  11. I made lentil soup during this stage. I just pureed it so it was chunk free. Definitely my favorite thing from that stage.
  12. Don't beat yourself up, no one is perfect! We all have to learn our new stomachs. Some lesson we have to learn the hard way, and that's ok!
  13. I'm 11 weeks out, and have no regrets! Actually, I wish I had gotten sleeved a few years ago, if that's a regret. My recovery has been pretty smooth. There are of course a few bumps in the road, but overall this has been so positive. I'm down 40 lbs, and it's the easiest 40 lbs I've ever lost. I have no physical hunger (although head hunger is something else!). I also love that I feel full and satisfied after only a few ounces of food, instead of going back for seconds. You're making the right decision for your future self!
  14. That is so inspiring, thanks for posting!
  15. You say you're not interested in seeing a therapist, but that is what you need. You have control and food issues that stem from childhood, and you are looking for a way to undo or stretch your sleeve just one week in. This isn't something a forum can help you with. If you really want to get to a healthy mental place, you are going to need professional help.
  16. I developed a whey protein isolate intolerance about 3 weeks post op. It cause extreme nausea, about 45 minutes after I started to ingest anything that contained whey protein isolate. I tried it in different forms, premade shakes, powders, bars & protein water, reacted the same to all of them. I had to find alternatives without whey. I first tried vegan powders, shakes and bars. I couldn't handle the way the tasted. I finally settled on Muscle Milk Pro premade shakes, Medifast powdered shakes, and Medifast chicken noodle soup, Medifast Crunch Bars, and several of the soups on Barbaric Pal. There are other premade shakes I can handle, like Advent Edge Carb control, but Muscle Milk tastes better to me. Hope that helps!
  17. I hit a wall 2 weeks after surgery. I got a B12 shot from my surgeon, and another one a month later, and I've been feeling great. Might want to see if you can get one, or if not do sublingual B12. The effect was almost immediate for me.
  18. I like the Medifast Crunch Bars. 110 calories, 11 g protein, 13 g carbs
  19. I went through the exact thing at your stage. I felt extreme nausea when I had an empty stomach. It decreased over time. Now I have a dull ache when ever my stomach is empty. Water on an empty stomach makes it worse. I talked to my surgeon’s PA and she told me it was common and normal. I’ve just been dealing with it. I’m not actually hungry, and I don’t want to keep food on my stomach all the time. It’s more annoying at this point than painful
  20. That would have not worked for me! My work is no more physical demanding than reading this forum. I went on a week long business trip 3 weeks post op!
  21. Okay ... well it's good to know I'm not alone. Hopefully it will continue to lessen!
  22. Oh yeah, in that case definitely hold off on jerky!
  23. 25 miles is rough! Maybe you can find some other jerky? The only thing is other ones I've looked at have 80 or so calories per oz. You can't tolerate meat, that's a bummer. You're only 2 weeks behind me, post op!
  24. Not crunchy, but high protein - Trader Joe's Turkey Jerky 1 oz - 60 calories & 11 g Protein
  25. I work from home, and I put in for 2 sick days, surgery day and the next, but technically I didn't take any and I worked both of those days, at least partially. My surgery was in the afternoon so I checked into the hospital in the morning, did the paperwork etc.. I had a private room, so I answered emails on my iPad and made calls like normal. After surgery I was coherent enough to reply to a couple of important emails that came in while I was under. The next day I was coherent and replied to emails, but couldn't make calls with people coming in and out and monitors potentially beeping. Once I was home I was able to work as normal. I just took short naps a couple of afternoons. It depends though what type of work at home job you have. I have a management position where I have customers/accounts, and have a lot of freedom to arrange my own days and workload. But some work at home positions are a lot more closely monitored. My friend's has every phone call recorded and her computer activity is all monitored. If your job is more micromanaged, then I'd take at least a few days off so you can be sure you're up to speed.
