  1. I believe we should get the the bodies we want, and that doesn't necessarily stop at weight loss surgery. It's wonderful your husband thinks you're perfect, but he's not living in your body. And, yeah, you may want more procedures, but why not? If you can get a body you're comfortable in through plastics, why is that a bad thing?
I've had two sets of plastic surgery (but not an arm lift). Recovery sucks in the short term. But what's a few week vs. being happy with your arms forever?
Additionally, there is a study that shows that those who get plastics after WLS are more apt to keep the weight off. Anecdotally, the group of women I am in touch with on here who have had plastics, and all 5+ years out, and all have had no significant weight gain, outside the normal bounce.

Hi, as someone that is very familiar with Eastern, Southeastern Europe and West Asia I would strongly recommend against a surgery of this magnitude there. Your life is extremely valuable and surgery complications can be horrible. I know it is much cheaper to do it there, but there is no price on life. It is not even about physician competence (since some of the best doctors in the world come from those higher education systems), it is about medical facilities and their level of sterilization (or lack thereof). I think you should save money, take your time and get the surgery where you are. I grew up there and moved to US in my thirties. There is no comparison in the medical care, and surgery facilities, they are definitely superior in US and in UK. Please remember that your life is worth everything and you can end up much worse than where you are right now. It is worth saving money and getting that procedure completed where it is safe. It is your life and it is more valuable than everything!

There are very qualified surgeons in modern surgical facilities in Turkey. It is not at all accurate that there is necessarily a lower quality of care or lack of hygiene. Standards have changed quite dramatically in recent years.

So many sauces! What are they and which one was best?

i already know i'd like the hot sauce one, and the cheesy one! what are the other ones?? teriyaki? ranch? BBQ Sauce? blue cheese? ? 😉

On the before pic, from the top,

The one that's the very unattractive brown color is Carribbean Jerk, it's not that color IRL, and it's my fave. Below is is Sweet Lime Chili, seasonal and was gross, The white one is actually salt & vinegar dry rub. Bottom is Nashville Hot. Chipotle aoli with the onion rings and ranch with the carrots

  4. We all know that our surgeries have the possibility of complications. But we also hopefully realized they are statistically small.

As far as Lisa Marie, a lot of the news coming out shows the stigma of WLS. She also had opioids in her system (at therapeutic levels) . Anyone who’s taken them knows how they can cause incredibly bad Constipation. There are studies that link opioid use the SBO. Additionally, reportedly she had suffered from extreme pain for days and didn’t seek medical treatment

First, you must be so freaked out right now. Deeeeep breaths! I have three beautiful kids as well so I know how you feel.

From what I understand, pills such as these should work just fine. They break down in your stomach, yes, but also in your digestive tract. So your body will absorb it just fine. The hormone in the morning after pill will function as intended.

Only “XR” tablets (extended release) can have issues so I don’t think you have anything to worry about. 😊

This is the right answer @Mammaptp

I finally broke down and had a facelift. Honestly, I think that's probably the only permanent solution - but I'd hold off awhile because sometimes things shift around during year 2 or 3 and you look less gaunt. As far as full vs lower face lift, it just depends on your situation. Another WLS patient and I went to the same plastic surgeon. He recommended a lower face lift for me, and a full face lift for her - so it depends on the sagging (where it is and how much).

Ohhh! A facelift! This is on my list! Would you mind sharing pics and your surgeon? DM if you prefer 😊

    speaking of leftovers...

Mr. brought home a doggy bag of a souvlaki meal for me, but i really only wanted the pita.

so i cut up what he brought home, sprinkled some olive oil and spices on it and air-fried it to crunchy. ate it with some homemade tzatziki (greek yogurt, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and salt and pepper)

    ate it all.

p.s. i logged it as naan on MFP cuz it was alot thicker than a standard pita!

    101 calories for it all.

    No cucumber in your tzatziki?

  8. A panni just removed the excess hanging skin. The purpose is medical and cosmetic outcome is not the purpose. Often the belly button will be removed entirely.

With a tt a good cosmetic outcome is the goal. Muscle repair is included, The incision can be extended to prevent dog ears. The incision placement is low so it can be hidden. The belly button recreated.

But make sure you like your surgeon's work. Often plastic surgeons who take insurance aren't always the ones with the most pleasing outcomes. (Different for @ms.sss n Canada, with socialized medicine)

My surgeon told me that in January of 2022. It's not like it was 30 years ago. He said that "obesity is like cancer, it wants to come back." My surgeon's words, not mine.

Are there exceptions to every rule? Of course! But, in general, for most people, obesity is going to be a lifelong battle.

Weight loss medicine has come a long way and I expect it will only get better and better. But, it's not perfect. Heck, my surgeon told me that I might regain my weight and need to go on meds to get the weight back off.

There's nothing wrong with having realistic expectations.

That's exactly the point. Most WLS patients will take supplements and/or meds for life, so why is this an argument against weight loss meds?

I'm 100% a believer in realistic expectations. As I mentioned I've taken taken GLP meds, to control regain. But I disagree that everyone will necessarily have to be on GLP meds for life, you said "That much ... is known". Some people have a smaller amount of weight to lose and can manage maintenance once it is lost IME.

  10. Thankfully the 1980's was 40 years ago. There has been much progress since then. I think comparing these new GLP meds to the ones mentioned above is like comparing a Tesla to a Datsun.

The arguments against these drugs sound similar to what most of us heard about WLS. That someone knew someone who had horrible complications. That our stomachs are altered forever. That we will have to take supplements or meds forever. That they didn't need WLS to lose weight, so you shouldn't either.

I have personally taken a GLP med. And I have known a number others who have as well. This is an option for people who aren't WLS candidates, or may just not consider that an option for them. It's also far fewer hoops to jump through and is not as life altering as WLS. I have known several people who have maintained their loss for over 6 months while being off the med.

All the fearmongering seems unnecessary and unfounded IMO.

The more options and less stigmatization for medically assisted weight loss the better.

  11. I've had 2 sets of surgeries and have traveled for both of them, as have some of my friends. Never had issues with recoveries and pain was always manageable. I had friends/family stay with me, but no medical care was provided. More like make me a sandwhich type care :) I stayed two weeks each time, which was more time than I needed. I've also known people who were very happy with recovery home stays
