Will be sleeved in March! Must haves for after surgery??
sillykitty replied to Gleann's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So I bought a ton of stuff, sf jello, sf pudding, sf popsicle, multiple protein powders, bunch of different flavor and brands protein shakes. I'm about through with the full liquid phase, and used so little of it. I really only liked the Chocolate Premier Protein Shakes, two of those and I meet my protein for the day. And then because I crave salty/savory, some smooth soups. I like the Pacific/TJ's Tomato & Red Pepper and several of Campbells Soup to Go's. I spent so much money on stuff I either didn't like or never sounded appealing. Oh, and Benefiber, REALLY important! -

Even though I'm currently very weak and shaky, I don't find driving to be challenging. But if you're nervous it's better to be safe and take a Lyft instead. -
I'm still on liquids, but abut to transition to purees. I've been hungry the last few days and frustrated never feeling full on liquids. I tested out a pureed phase food, roasted sweet potato, and finally had that full feeling. Hallelujah!

It's basically the latest version of the Atkins Diet, i.e. low carb. It's a fad diet, and will eventually fall out of favor. There are some Keto recipes that are high protein and relatively low cal that can fit into a healthy balanced diet. But then there is also the insane part of fad diets, like keto followers having their Starbucks lattes made with heavy cream.

How to get enough protein.
sillykitty replied to Jfranks0124's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mostly through protein drinks. At this stage there is really no other way to get to 60 g -
Size 34 bougie here. My surgeon feels it is the smallest that has has minimal complications. I have has zero nausea or vomiting, but my neighbor who had the same surgeon has had consistent nausea and vomiting during her 2 month post op. She said it has always been brought on by eating the wrong thing, or too much.

Is it possible to get the temptation food out of the house. Honestly, I know for me it would be so much hared if I had that food around. -
That is such great news, I'm glad you found this option!

I'm here! Been a rough week, super shaky, low energy & weak. I've been staying home to rest up and conserve energy, so going pretty stir crazy. -

Well, 12 days post op now, and hit the dreaded stall. Even though I knew it was inevitable, doesn't mean it doesn't suck!

My program is cleared for everything after 6 weeks

Did you get prescribed an antacid like Rantididine? It definitely takes away the heartburn

Where are these trolls coming from?

Can you just drop all pretense that you're "spreading positivity"? You're a bully, and you obviously get off on it. I feel sorry for you that you you have all this hostility inside you. -
Do you miss being overweight?
sillykitty replied to Marissa37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had surgery this month, so I'm not there yet, but that is one of my regrets. I have a substantial professional wardrobe, with many pieces I love, not to mention the money spent. I regret I will have to spend $1000's replacing it all, but glad at the same time. -
I'm 9 days post op, and have been feeling fantastic nearly the whole time. I seriously felt normal the last 6 days or so, except for minor incision pain. Yesterday I overdid it with a long grocery shopping trip. I had also not been hungry the past few day so I hadn't gotten my protein in, and have only been at between 100-400 calories. I now realize this was a mistake This morning I am absolutely physically exhausted. Taking out the trash can has left me incredibly shaky and weak. How do I recover my strength? I have a business meeting tomorrow, which will be the first time I'll need to get professionally dressed, make up and all. I'll make sure I get as much protein, calories, and water in today as possible. But is there anything else I should be doing? I was thinking that maybe tomorrow morning I should have some carbs/sugar to give my body some fuel so I'm not as weak? I'm obviously not wanting to do that long term and sabotage my weight loss, but I need to get through my meeting tomorrow. Any advice would be appreciated, TIA!

Have you considered having surgery in Mexico? It can be relatively affordable.

My nutritionist visit and psych eval was done in my surgeons office, on the same visit. My insurance shows I owe a $20 co-pay, but my surgeon has never collected any payments during my visits, nor sent any bills.

How to get my energy back?
sillykitty replied to sillykitty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for everyone's advice. I'm still weak and shaky, and now have developed pain in my stomach after I swallow, that wasn't there before. I canceled my meeting today and have a call into my Dr., to make sure this is normal recovery, and not something else. -
My Dr. told me the surgery took 40 minutes. Mine was just the sleeve and a liver biopsy, no haital hernia repair. Maybe she is doing multiple patients the same day? I know my surgeon does.

Not a lot, usually 300-400

I'm 8 days post op, and have been feeling great. But I was a little over confident today. I went to get my nails done, then went to two stores on a long, look at every label, grocery shopping trip. I started to get shaky and sweaty. I apparently am not having quite the miraculous recovery I thought I was!

Does your stomach feel normal?
sillykitty replied to logicwand's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 8 days out, and my stomach is a little more gurgley than normal, but otherwise feels normal. I can drink pretty freely. Sometime I forget and gulp and it just feels a tiny bit weird. -
1 Week post op and already hungry?
sillykitty replied to bamby021's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The beans went down without any problem at all, didn't even have that weird feeling I sometimes get with liquids. I didn't feel full, but I stopped feeling hungry. It's like the itch was scratched. I'm also afraid of giving into the bad stuff, because it sounds so good. But I'm just taking it one bite at a time, and trying to make good choices. I have all the bad stuff out my house, so all my easy choices are healthy ones. And there is nothing wrong with cheese, I actually just picked up some light baby bell, mozzarella pearls & goat cheese today (really looking forward to the puree stage, lol!). As long as the quantities are moderate we can have cheese!
