  1. It is hard if you're not drinking protein drinks. Solids just aren't as protein dense 1/3 c canned chicken - 12g, Greek yougurt 16g - 1/2c bean 6g Takes a lot of food (at least for our small stomachs) and more calories to get there
  2. Do you have a goal in mind you can focus on when you feel tempted? Like a vacation you're going on and want to look great in pics? Or old clothes you want to fit in to? For me I want plastics, so I can have a body I'm happy with. So I focus on getting to my goal weigh ASAP, so I can get my tummy tuck! Also, don't have the goal be perfection. You are guaranteed to feel like you failed if you allow yourself no slip ups or indulgences. Just make sure they are few and far between.

    This stuff is delicious!

Has anyone added it to protein powder in a shaker bottle? Will it blend, or will it clump?
  4. With protein shakes, not hard at all. For example yesterday I had- Premier Protein Shakes, Pure Protein Shake, chili beans, canned chicken = 415 calories, 63 g protein

    Sleep! Post-Op Day 2

I slept in bed, on my back, somewhat propped up on pillows. Not the best sleep I've ever gotten, but not terrible.

    Liver Anxiety

I think it's interesting your Dr. places such importance on shrinking your liver. Other Dr.'s, like mine, do no preop diet at all.

    Emotional eating and food addiction

Simplifications like this kill me. Never having fast food is impractical. If I'm in the mind set that I can never have fast food, if I do, then I'm a failure. My goal is to have fast food rarely, and when I do, I'll make smarter choices.

    Emotional eating and food addiction

I'm not an emotional eater, nor do I have a food addiction I know why I'm obese: I make poor food choices, fried chicken vs. grilled chicken, stopping at the drive through vs. going home and eating a Lean Cuisine. Portion sizes are too large (compounded by the unhealthy choices) Bored eating So I do need to make changes, but I agree, I don't need to "redefine my relationship w food" I need to Make a conscience decision to eat healthy, and prioritize my long term goals (being a healthy weight) over the short term pleasure This surgery will help with portion control If I really want to snack, make sure it is a low cal choice, pickles, carrots etc

    February 2018 Success Stories

So I'm 2.5 weeks post op and traveling for the first time today. Business trip, pretty easy one, but still not ideal. I've been really weak and easily exhausted for the past week. I'm anxious about getting through the airports. But I figured I'll just take it slow and give myself plenty of time. I'll be testing out restaurant food for the first time as well. I'm on purees, but have tested a few soft foods (w my Dr.'s blessing), and I seem to have a stomach of steel, vitamins and meds are the only thing that upsets it. I'm looking at this as a test for next week. I'm on a week long business trip, with my boss morning to night. It is a busy week that includes seeing a lot of customers and associates, dinner, drinks etc.. Really nervous about my energy level In some good news, looks like I broke my week long stall!

    Need real answers

I have had a very easy recovery. I'm now 2.5 weeks post op. No nausea, except from meds on an empty stomach (would have happened preop as well). I work from home, so I technically took zero time off work. If I had to go into an office, I could have gone back 2 days post op, I felt well enough. Incision pain lasted about a week, but now I don't even feel it unless I hit my largest incision on something. The worst thing is a week ago I hit a wall energy wise, and am exhausted by any exertion, like taking in the trash cans. Diet plan for me is, no pre op diet, then post op, 2 weeks liquid, 2 weeks purees, 2 weeks soft foods, then anything I can tolerate.

    New and Scared

You're throwing up road blocks for yourself. Are any of the potential negative consequences of weight loss (extra skin etc.) worse than the known consequences of being obese? I get it, we are all afraid of change, of the unknown. But are you happy as you are? Isn't it worth the risk to be happier and healthier?
  15. My plan includes pudding and yogurt in the liquids stage (first 2 weeks). I tolerated them without any issue.

    Pureed /blended stage

I've had no issue with cheese, I just chew it really well

    Have a date, baby!!!

How exciting, you went from thinking you wouldn't be able to have the surgery to having a date in a a week, that's amazing!
  20. In my post above I suggested generic Benefiber or psyllium husks, have you tried those along with stool softeners?
  21. Well pooping everyday isn't required "You can have a bowel movement anywhere from one to three times a day at the most, or three times a week at the least, and still be considered regular"
  22. Taking any stimulant laxative long term is a bad idea. How about generic Benefiber or taking psyllium husks? I'd talk to my Dr. or NUT, because this isn't normal.
  23. sillykitty

    No poop

Same here! I also have been taking Benefiber since, and it has made things normal.
