    Plus Size Clothing

@Sosewsue61 Thanks for the tip on Dress Barn, I think there is one near my mom's house. I'll have to check them out. I've never seen a Christopher Banks locally though. @Frustr8 My favorite dress brand is City Chic. Their plus size sizing goes from XS to XL. I'm now fitting into XS, which is they say is equivalent to size 14. Talk about vanity sizing! @Biddy zz Exciting! I'm glad you're enjoying the shopping experience. I'm a devoted online shopper, so I really loathe to go to a mall and find new brands that fit and flatter me! @Roxine So far I have kept the same shape, it has just shrunk. So it has been easy for me to just size down on my favorite brands. I am excited though after my tummy tuck to wear sheath style dresses instead of fit & flare, or wrap around! It'll be nice to not have to always worry about hiding the tummy! Re: Bras ... I am just about needing new ones, ugh. The band still fits, just on a smaller notch, but the cups are gaping a bit. Not where I wanted to lose weight, but to be expected. I have though been able to fit into my "pretty bras" without a band extender. I was measured for them years ago, and they were too tight even back then. But unfortunately they may be pretty, but they are scratchy, so not an everyday solution!
  3. Oh, yes, egg drop soup, and the broth from hot & sour soup are good ideas. As is Pho broth, or Tom Yum Kai or Tom Kha Kai broth. Oh and ramen broth, especially Tonkatsu.

    5 week stall

I agree ... restaurant food is very hard to calculate. Can you cook? That way it would be easier to get an accurate count. At this point to have not lost weight in 5 weeks you have to be consuming the same or more calories than you are burning.
  7. Trader Joes/Pacific Brand Tomato with Roasted Red Pepper in an aseptic box... loved it! Any interest in cooking? Lentil Soup is super easy, you can just dump everyhing into a slow cooker or Instapot. Some of the Bariatric Pal store protein soups are tasty, and help meet your protein goals.

    February 2018 Success Stories

Just here to vent a little ..... My hair loss has recently increased, a lot! Like clean out the shower drain and the hairbrush every day! Waaahhhh! I'm also in my longest stall yet ... two week! I'm curious if this is a set point stall. I am near the weight I held at for years until I started traveling for work and eating out extensively.

    Wrinkled bag stomach

I went into WLS surgery knowing I would have plastics. I want a flat tummy and know that there is no way mine will get there naturally.

    Excessive Gas

Did you take several pills when you eat, or just one? I find if I take 3-4 at the beginning of a meal, it almost completely eliminates gas.

Protein - How much is too much?

@Orchids&Dragons I just noticed your ticker! You're doing fantastic! Congrats on being over 1/2 way to goal!

Protein - How much is too much?

The biggest challenge I had was finding plant based protein supplements that actually tasted decent.

In what way have you changed?

Oh ... thought of another. I have a first date this afternoon. I always feel self conscience. Even though I put up accurate full body pics, and list myself as full figured. I'm always afraid they'll think, "wow, she's fatter than she looked in pics!" But for the date today, I look better than I do in my pics! I'm 50 lbs lighter, and might be able to get away with listing myself as "curvy" vs. "full figured". So now he might end up thinking "wow, she's thinner than she looked in pics!"

In what way have you changed?

I have always projected a lot of confidence. So much so everyone I told was surprised I even wanted WLS. I didn't even realize how much I was faking it before. I was at a work event last week, meeting a lot of new people. I realized I had had a lot more anxiety than I realized about being remembered as "fat one". Now I feel more of the confidence that people assume I have.
  16. Standing in the sun and humidity all day a week after surgery would be hard. I had an easy recovery, but that would have definitely been overly exhausting for me at that point. For the preop diet I'd ask your surgeon what the parameters are. I'd definitely ask if you could eat some lean protein on this day. Not medical advice, but if it were me, I might bend the rules a little this day, if you're on an all liquid diet. IMO these preop diets are arbitrary, (I didn't have one) and I wouldn't want to miss a big event like this, or be miserable during it,

    Scale Recommendations

I have this one https://smile.amazon.com/1byone-Bluetooth-Wireless-Bathroom-Visceral/dp/B01FHELB56/ref=sr_1_5_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1528217799&sr=8-5-spons&keywords=ASAKUKI+scale&psc=1 I like it mostly because it matches my bathroom! Other than that, I like that it logs my weight & body fat each day in the app, and the price was right.

Perspectives on Losing Fast & Slow

I have struggled with perspective myself. I alternate between being logical, this is the fastest weight I've ever lost and being impatient, like during the stall I'm in right now. What's the hurry, one poster asked? Well for me, it's plastics. I have a very tight work travel schedule. I have a window I have carved out near the end of the year, so I can have and recover from plastic surgery. I HAVE to be at or very near goal at that time, or else I'm not sure when I will be able to afford the time to have the surgery. One thing that has helped me keep perspective recently, is how the weight is coming off of my body. I'm feeling more confident in my clothes than I have in a very long time. If I do say so myself, my butt looks fantastic in a pair of jeans!

    Non Scale Victories

So I haven't had many people who don't know about my surgery say anything about my weight loss. But I had a funny one yesterday, of all people, my gardener!
  21. Have you checked out this thread?
  22. This is an easy and tasty low cal, high protein meal. It's written for an instapot, but it can be adapted for a slow cooker as well https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2015/04/pressure-cooker-fast-and-easy-chicken-chile-verde-recipe.html I made a few changes: I used Poblano, Hatch & Jalapeno Chilies (left out the Anaheim chilies, based on personal preference) I used boneless skinless chicken breasts I added hominy & chicken broth, to make it more like pozole (low carbers, don't add hominy) I left out the cumin (I wanted to taste the chicken and chilies and find cumin tends to dominate) It was yummy, easy, and totally healthy, a win, win, win!

    Still not complying

Where did you get that you should be down over 40 lbs at 5 weeks? It seems to me that you had unrealistic expectations from this surgery.

    Fried Chicken

I have a Farberware 3.2 Quart Air Fryer, that I got off Walmart.com. It is small, but perfect for 1-2 people. It makes the best chicken wings, seriously. They get super crispy with no added oil. Then you can just toss in the sauce of your choice.
