  1. Not that I have ever heard of. Google only comes up with SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) as causing weight gain. I definitely have slow motility, but not really any other SIBO symptoms. I'll have to ask my gastroenterologist ex next time we talk ....hmmm ...
  2. Well that is inconvenient. Off topic, but .... I have often wondered if the speed of one's digestive track effects how many calories they absorb from their food?
  3. Oh no! Is this only post sleeve, or have you always had this issue?
  4. Has Trader Joe's made it to your neck of the TX woods yet? Their Red Argentinian Shrimp is by far the tastiest shrimp I have ever had. After the first time I used this shrimp in a dish for an ex he refused any other type of shrimp, even at restaurants. It was a huge PIA because it's not always in stock (wild caught) and he was a pescatarian. https://www.traderjoes.com/fearless-flyer/article/4172
  5. I think for most people, it's a good thing. I think i had a different job I may have considered RNY, but I just really can't deal with potentially dumping while on the job.

But this won't work for everyone. My goal is to live a balanced life, not one of only grilled chicken and celery. We all gained our weight in different ways and for different reasons. For me it wasn't about indulging in an over abundance of fried foods for instance. So far I have been successfully losing weight with a balanced approached. When I get to maintenance, and I have less restriction, and I have more hunger, it may not continue to work. But I'm willing to reevaluate my plan at that time and become stricter about what I eat, if that's what it will take to maintain a weight I'm happy with.

It's all part of your pattern of making poor choices, defending them, then lamenting your lack of weight loss.

Actually that was me, not @AshAsh1 If you are fine with slow weight loss, then that's fine. But don't complain about it and say that the surgery didn't work. You realize that most people on this site are super motivated to make this surgery successful? So most of us don't think that 96 servings of Raisin Bran, or mega boxes of Cheez-its, or 10 lbs of dates are good ideas. So when you post up these purchases and then defend them as good choices, you are not likely to get many people agreeing with you.
  13. Late to this party, but WTH ... OP is probably not cleared for solids yet, most likely, so should be relevant My sleeve handles everything, no joke, spicy, fried, whatever I throw at it, no issues I LOVE ethnic foods, so I get missing them and craving them. Sometimes I have exactly what I am craving. But I usually try to get the flavor while still making better choices. Like getting an Indian curry, but just eating the meat out of it and having no rice. But it depends if you have a slippery slope problem. Does making poor choices lead to you making more and more of them? I'm fortunate, I am able to consistently reign myself in. I can eat poorly for one meal, or one day, or while on vacation, but then be able to get back on plan, and start losing again. Who knows if I will be able to do so once I'm in maintenance. I may lose a lot of my current restriction and have to be stricter about what I eat. My hunger might return more than it currently has. If that happens I'll have to re-evaluate and adjust. My point is, you can still enjoy some of your favorite foods, on occasion, and in moderation. But you will have to monitor if you can do so and still lose.

    Ups and downs...

Ups and downs are totally normal. 30 lbs in 2 moths is fantastic. Please don't hold yourself up to unrealistic expectations about weight loss.

Here's the thing ... you complain you haven't lost weight, that your sleeve isn't working. You post that you are: Drinking Gatorade, eating Raisin Bran, eating Cheez-its, eating dates, eating pizza, and those are just what you posted about. None of us are perfect, but you said you bought large quantities of Gatorade, multiple 32 serving boxes of Cheezits, 96 servings of Raisin Bran, 10 lbs of dates. That is some sort of commitment to not following a sensible plan. "I am allowed 225 - 325 grams of carbs per days" ... I think you have seriously misread your plan. Because as posted above that is the equivalent of 6+ bagels. You said you are only eating 500 cals per day, and not losing, while posting about the foods I mentioned above. It just doesn't add up, especially for a guy, who usually lose weight faster than women. You are either lying to yourself, or to us.

Soo ... I actually had bread and alcohol, and so much other stuff at 3 weeks out. BUT, I knew this was not wise. I didn't come here asking if it was a good idea, I knew it wasn't. And I took full responsibility for the gain I had that week, and if I had had any other complications for it. I think it comes down to accepting personal responsibility.

^^^ This was exactly my experience. My insurance didn't require a pre op diet. I had one 1 on 1 meeting with the NUT and got the "this is a tool" speech. It was immediately followed by a small group class laying out the post WLS eating plan. That was a cluster f*ck with idiot fellow patients, and the NUT who didn't have answers she should have had IMO. BUT, sensible nutrition isn't rocket science. I mean we all know that chicken is good, pizza is bad, right? Anyone on this site can obviously use the internet and educate themselves if they have gaps in their nutritional knowledge. I also never like to rely on any one person completely to supply all the answers. We have seen how many different programs there are out there. People are successful on seemingly all of them. There is no one right answer. I have common sense and good Google skills. I trust I will be able to take in all the different programs and figure out what works best, for me.
  20. Video #2 ... this did not set off my inner cynic nearly as much because it didn't have that familiar fad diet hype. Obviously, eating once per day isn't practical for those of us who have had WLS. And even those who haven't, how are they getting adequate protein? I am a firm believer that long term protein deficiency has some pretty severe negative consequences. I also have a nit pick on the whole section where he justifies the one meal a day a plan with the paleo concept. That makes the assumption that humans stopped evolving since the paleolithic days, which is not true. IMO, Paleo is just junk science.
  21. It's like a mini workout .... bonus points!
  22. I actually had to tell the flight attendant I was pregnant. Thank goodness I hadn't had any drinks that flight, or CPS would have been waiting for me at the gate.
  23. So as a traveler ... McDonalds and Starbucks taking over the world has one benefit .... bathrooms!
  24. Maybe it's just their metabolism? I mean we all know skinny people who eat like absolute crap?
  25. But ... all those fluids!?! I almost never get my fluids in on travel days because of lack of bathroom access fear. Almost wetting your pants in an airplane seat once will do that to you!
