  1. Even if you are consuming sugar/carbs, you are not consuming enough to keep yourself out of ketosis. By definition ketosis is "When the body does not have enough glucose for energy, it burns stored fats instead", So you maybe feeding your body foods that convert into glucose, but it is not sufficient, so your body is using your fat stores as well, hence your 22 lb loss in less than a month.
  2. I have some caramel leftover from before I fell off the protein wagon
  3. It looks like you have lost 22 lbs in less than a month. Since ketosis is your body using fat stores for energy, it would appear that you are in ketosis, to me.
  4. I'm not drinking water ... did you know a Double Gulp is 64 oz? I'm unfortunately neither a coffee or tea drinker. I find both completely intolerable unless they are sweet and creamy, like milky chai, or vietnamese coffee. Since protein is one of my January goals, I might start making faux Vietnamese coffee again with PP caramel, but I'll try to do it in my non fasting window, since I need a lot of PP to get it sweet enough for me.
  5. With all that said above ... I am STRUGGLING today! Back home from my mini break. The scale was kind to me, I'm at 137.2, so about a 1/2 lb lighter than when I left. I didn't eat more terribly than my current normal (which says something in and of itself), but I did have a couple of beers everyday, which I is not my norm. So I got lucky. This morning I am trying to push back my first meal, but, it's a struggle. I had a late dinner last night, think midnight. Dinner got delayed for some reunion cardio . I'm hydrating, already at about 48 oz, which is some sort of miracle for me. White knuckling it, trying to get my body out of the frequent eating habit I established while I was away.
  6. @sideeye I agree with this. Once you get past the hunger, and out of the habit of eating at certain times, it really does become so much easier, and freeing! If I am mentally or physically occupied, then I'm distracted and don't think about eating. So any new Netflix series to binge in the evenings, or book to dive into? (Or FWB for some cardio?) If I must munch, I aim for something super low cal, like sf jello or carrots, or coleslaw made with vinegar. I also cannot watch any cooking shows, or travel shows that feature food. My head hunger is a beast, and I can't handle the triggers of food based TV.

@GreenTealael, you look as glam as h*ll in that Pompeii video! How do you manage? I feel like every vacay photo of me has my bag hanging off me awkwardly, I'm sunburned and my hair is frizzy!

    Surprised by this! Thoughts?

I haven't weighed in a number of months, since I got close to and entered maintenance. But I would say it is on the lower side, definitely closer to 3-4 oz. When I was weighing my meals, they'd usually be in the 2 oz range. This is a horrible example of the type of food WLS patients should be eating, but someone asked me recently for a visual of what my volumetric capacity is. That is a 1 cup measuring cup.

    Surprised by this! Thoughts?

I'm nearly 11 months post op, and I still have a lot of restriction. My current capacity is 1/2 - 3/4 cup.
  13. I say ... stalls are inevitable and happen no matter what you do. I know many people say, I did X and my stall broke. But there is no way to know if the stall was going to break anyway. Just work your program, stay off the scale if it becomes to upsetting, and the stall will break.
  14. No IF for me this week. Free breakfast included, then late dinners, so, yeah. Thankfully I only figured out on the last day you could sub arroz con leche for the yogurt parfait in the free breakfast, ignorance has it's benefits! I should be on board for the January Challenge and IF once I return home.

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

That does it, @sideeye and I definitely can never meet, can't mess with the caribou migration. I imagine they're having a tough enough time of it already Ironically, leggings and fuzzy socks is upping my game. When I moved to my new neighborhood a couple years back it is much more social. The UPS guy chats. People walk dogs and will sometimes ask questions about my house or yard. Neighbors drop by randomly. I've legit had one ask to borrow some milk. So now my unwashed hair is always tied up, because dirty messy buns are better than it being down and greasy, in my mind at least. My shirt, leggings and fuzzy socks may not match, but at least don't clash horribly. And most importantly, I now always wear a sports bra! I just googled Natori robes. Now I need one, or maybe two. That way when I walk around post cardio I can hide the wobbly bits and look sexy af doing it!

    I’m always full

Normal .... as @FluffyChix said, 60 g of protein is only 2 protein shakes, totally doable
  17. Everyone is different, but I would have been fine with only a few days off from a desk job. I work from home and technically took no time off at all.

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

.... Funny, when you wrote this “in five years, I want to be typing on my couch in a home I own in the middle of a weekday because my job has that sort of flexibility” , I thought hey that's me, just add with unwashed hair, in leggings and fuzzy socks! (Well technically I only own my bathroom and maybe laundry room!) Yes to the overpurchases, I have jerky and cheese sticks that I have toted across the country and are now in my home, as well as less wise choices like Combos and Famous Amos cookies. Because you know, I couldn't just leave them on the plane or throw them away, nooooo I have a low tolerance to repeating the same food, so I can no longer do the fruit and cheese plates, I ate those for years, (along with Pringles of course). The upside is I haven't eaten a Biscoff cookie for many many years, after gorging myself when I first starting flying regularly.

... I definitely know this feeling. This is me at an airport. Must. find. food. before boarding my flight, even if I'm not hungry. Because god forbid in the next 2 - 5 hrs I might get hungry, and that would be the end of the world. Honestly once you start doing IF, it will become easier. You'll realize for the most part hunger passes quickly. Just drink water, or crystal light or whatever, and occupy yourself. If it gets too bad, break your fast, not the end of the world. (This is coming from someone who will still sometimes give into the "what if you get hungry" voice and has eaten far too much crappy airport food, just because)

    Recreational Drugs

Do you not see the hypocritical-ness of this post? I think @sideeye has a very valid point that no one wants to come on here and be judged, that's not what this forum is for. @Tootiesmom came here with a legitimate concern, acknowledged some bad choices and is asking for help. Hasn't everyone made some poor choices at some point?
