I think it's interesting your Dr. places such importance on shrinking your liver. Other Dr.'s, like mine, do no preop diet at all.

Emotional eating and food addiction
sillykitty replied to GreenTealael's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Simplifications like this kill me. Never having fast food is impractical. If I'm in the mind set that I can never have fast food, if I do, then I'm a failure. My goal is to have fast food rarely, and when I do, I'll make smarter choices. -
Emotional eating and food addiction
sillykitty replied to GreenTealael's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm not an emotional eater, nor do I have a food addiction I know why I'm obese: I make poor food choices, fried chicken vs. grilled chicken, stopping at the drive through vs. going home and eating a Lean Cuisine. Portion sizes are too large (compounded by the unhealthy choices) Bored eating So I do need to make changes, but I agree, I don't need to "redefine my relationship w food" I need to Make a conscience decision to eat healthy, and prioritize my long term goals (being a healthy weight) over the short term pleasure This surgery will help with portion control If I really want to snack, make sure it is a low cal choice, pickles, carrots etc -
February 2018 Success Stories
sillykitty replied to kakatlady612's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I'm 2.5 weeks post op and traveling for the first time today. Business trip, pretty easy one, but still not ideal. I've been really weak and easily exhausted for the past week. I'm anxious about getting through the airports. But I figured I'll just take it slow and give myself plenty of time. I'll be testing out restaurant food for the first time as well. I'm on purees, but have tested a few soft foods (w my Dr.'s blessing), and I seem to have a stomach of steel, vitamins and meds are the only thing that upsets it. I'm looking at this as a test for next week. I'm on a week long business trip, with my boss morning to night. It is a busy week that includes seeing a lot of customers and associates, dinner, drinks etc.. Really nervous about my energy level In some good news, looks like I broke my week long stall! -

Massive hair loss and stall
sillykitty replied to Excitedforthesleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Biotin is supposed to help prevent hair loss. -
I have had a very easy recovery. I'm now 2.5 weeks post op. No nausea, except from meds on an empty stomach (would have happened preop as well). I work from home, so I technically took zero time off work. If I had to go into an office, I could have gone back 2 days post op, I felt well enough. Incision pain lasted about a week, but now I don't even feel it unless I hit my largest incision on something. The worst thing is a week ago I hit a wall energy wise, and am exhausted by any exertion, like taking in the trash cans. Diet plan for me is, no pre op diet, then post op, 2 weeks liquid, 2 weeks purees, 2 weeks soft foods, then anything I can tolerate.

Where does everyone live? (General area)

SoCal here! -
You're throwing up road blocks for yourself. Are any of the potential negative consequences of weight loss (extra skin etc.) worse than the known consequences of being obese? I get it, we are all afraid of change, of the unknown. But are you happy as you are? Isn't it worth the risk to be happier and healthier?

Yogurt and Pudding Considered a Liquid?
sillykitty replied to logicwand's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My plan includes pudding and yogurt in the liquids stage (first 2 weeks). I tolerated them without any issue. -

TMI.. Could i take a exlax vs. Muralax
sillykitty replied to Yosy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
In my post above I suggested generic Benefiber or psyllium husks, have you tried those along with stool softeners? -
TMI.. Could i take a exlax vs. Muralax
sillykitty replied to Yosy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well pooping everyday isn't required "You can have a bowel movement anywhere from one to three times a day at the most, or three times a week at the least, and still be considered regular" -
TMI.. Could i take a exlax vs. Muralax
sillykitty replied to Yosy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Taking any stimulant laxative long term is a bad idea. How about generic Benefiber or taking psyllium husks? I'd talk to my Dr. or NUT, because this isn't normal. -
Same here! I also have been taking Benefiber since, and it has made things normal.

Will be sleeved in March! Must haves for after surgery??
sillykitty replied to Gleann's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So I bought a ton of stuff, sf jello, sf pudding, sf popsicle, multiple protein powders, bunch of different flavor and brands protein shakes. I'm about through with the full liquid phase, and used so little of it. I really only liked the Chocolate Premier Protein Shakes, two of those and I meet my protein for the day. And then because I crave salty/savory, some smooth soups. I like the Pacific/TJ's Tomato & Red Pepper and several of Campbells Soup to Go's. I spent so much money on stuff I either didn't like or never sounded appealing. Oh, and Benefiber, REALLY important! -

Even though I'm currently very weak and shaky, I don't find driving to be challenging. But if you're nervous it's better to be safe and take a Lyft instead. -
I'm still on liquids, but abut to transition to purees. I've been hungry the last few days and frustrated never feeling full on liquids. I tested out a pureed phase food, roasted sweet potato, and finally had that full feeling. Hallelujah!

It's basically the latest version of the Atkins Diet, i.e. low carb. It's a fad diet, and will eventually fall out of favor. There are some Keto recipes that are high protein and relatively low cal that can fit into a healthy balanced diet. But then there is also the insane part of fad diets, like keto followers having their Starbucks lattes made with heavy cream.

How to get enough protein.
sillykitty replied to Jfranks0124's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mostly through protein drinks. At this stage there is really no other way to get to 60 g -
Size 34 bougie here. My surgeon feels it is the smallest that has has minimal complications. I have has zero nausea or vomiting, but my neighbor who had the same surgeon has had consistent nausea and vomiting during her 2 month post op. She said it has always been brought on by eating the wrong thing, or too much.
