With the non-subscription version I can set my % goals for protein carbs and fat (along with calories), and also adjust your micronutrient goals. If by custom meals, you mean add recipes, you can do that in the non-subscription version as well. Just to let you know, if you're not using the subscription features and want to save some money!

Not eating soft foods yet! Exhausted and can’t get all protein in
sillykitty replied to amartinez8853's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Is it impossible for you to believe someone has had a different experience than you? -
For me it helps to keep the big picture in mind. Stalls happen and they suck. But on the other hand, even with stalls this is the easiest and fastest weight I have ever lost. Imperfect food choices happen. Today I was at an event and ate an egg roll. But you know what I didn't eat, cheese dip, chocolate cake, I didn't have a margarita or mimosa. I'm definitely counting today as a success.

I agree that chains are convenient for having accurate nutritional details. But I have been impressed with MFP's data base. I eat out frequently, and eat a lot of ethnic food, and I have yet to stump MFP. Now I'm sure it's not as accurate as chain lisitngs, but I'm glad there is the ability to log just about everything.

It's great that your family likes sushi. Once you're on regular foods (or maybe even soft, depending on your plan), sashimi is a great healthy option.

Staying accountable and emotional eating

Same here. That's how I ended up in the drive through, because I didn't have any healthy quick options available. Now I make sure I do. -
Staying accountable and emotional eating
sillykitty replied to SydneySleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great tips on here already. I would just add keep plenty of tasty healthy treats on hand, both savory and sweet. When you're tempted you can grab one of these instead of an unhealthy choice. -
You have lost more than a pound a day, that is fantastic and nothing to be discouraged about! We have all done this. Perfection is not a realistic goal!

Liquid post-op diet sucks
sillykitty replied to Kay07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my liquid stage I really loved Trader Joe's Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper soup. If you don't have a Trader Joe's near you, I think Pacific actually makes it, and you can buy their branded version. I also made and blended lentil soup. I made it well seasoned with herbs and spices. I added a splash of red wine vinegar to my serving. I've also found some of the soups here on Bariatric Pal to be asty, especially the Beef & Vegetable, Chicken w Pasta and Vegan Lentil. All the soups were savory and helped balance all the sweet protein drinks. -
Difficulties eating, and taking medications
sillykitty replied to Charlisnewchapter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I has these same issues, for me they each had different causes. Water hurt my stomach starting at 4 weeks post op. Now at 14 weeks post op, it still does but less so. In speaking to my surgeon's PA, I was told this is common, and nothing serious to worry about. Since it has been lessening, I'm hoping it will disappear totally at some point. Protein Shakes made me severely nausea suddenly at 4 weeks post op as well. After some trail and error I realized it was whey protein isolate that I was intolerant of. I'm now using a soy based powder and a casein based premade shakes, and no longer have this issue. Chewable vitamins were terrible, extreme nausea and sometimes vomiting. I tried multiple types, and the Centrum Complete Chewables were ok, if I had at least something on my stomach. At 4 weeks I switched to pills, and they have been great. My surgeon's PA recommended Whole Foods Prenatal, and I can take them on an empty stomach with no problem. Your issues may not have the same cause as mine, but just in case, hope this helps! -
I had the exact same experience. I talked to my surgeon's PA about it, and she told me it was common, and not serious. It started at 4 weeks post op, and has gradually lessened. Now at 14 weeks I only get the pain occasionally, and not as severely. Not sure if that helps!

Check out the menu beforehand, and make your choices before you leave home. That will help you be prepared, and not be on the spot when you're ordering. It will also lessen tempation to order less healthy items. Order items that you can either share with someone or make good leftovers. I do most of my dining out for work, so am unable to take leftovers, and it feels terribly wasteful.

Is it bad that I just don’t want to try losing weight again?
sillykitty replied to jultrim18's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This surgery will not solve the issues I have bolded above. It will not fix your head. It will shrink your stomach capacity, but you can certainly sabotage that by overeating, eating too frequently and eating poorly. And the surgery definitely WILL NOT kill your cravings. IMO, you're going about this backwards. You have to be ready to make this lifestyle change, and the surgery is a tool that can help you with that, not vice versa. -

Different surgeons have different plans. They can all be successful. There is nothing inherently wrong with moving through the stages faster, but each person is different and may take longer to adjust or heal -
41.5 BMI but no health problems.....
sillykitty replied to jultrim18's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Same here .... and I agree with all of this. BTW ... no one wants to die. We all had this surgery to live a longer healthier life, no matter then current status of our health. -
Related rant ..... my shirts are so long! Ugh, I wasn't planning on replacing my tops yet at this point!
-
I'd talk to your surgeon's office about that. Going on a PPI is pretty standard. I was on liquid Rantadine for a month, and then switched over to pills.

What are your favorite Purée stage meals?
sillykitty replied to baribetty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Refried beans with hot sauce and a little cheese. -
Are you on any PPI's, Rantadine, Zantac, Prilosec, etc? Acid stomach can feel like hunger.
-
Wow Ash! I have to hand it to you and your friend, garage sales are a lot of work! I admire you!

I think you are worrying for nothing. I came alone to the hospital, I took a Lyft. I brought my wallet, iPad, phone. When it was time for surgery the nurse put everything into a plastic bag marked it with my name and patient IDand taped it closed. It was in my new room when I came out of recovery, no problem at all

Why am I hungry???

Definitely real hunger if Cream of Wheat sounds delicious Are you allowed jello or popsicles? That could give you something to "chew" at least? -
Spicing up clear diet
sillykitty replied to moondoggie1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, too bad you don't do spicy, that would probably be the easiest! I haven't tried most of these. I was never on clear, my program goes straight to full liquids. I have tried the Pacific Chicken Bone Broth with Lemongrass. It is tiny and expensive, but tasted good. I got it at Walmart.com. I didn't like the Trader Joe's Miso Ginger Broth, but it is obviously popular. TJ's has carried it for years, and they are quick to discontinue items that don't sell. I do like to make Miso soup out of squeeze bottle concentrate like Marukome Miso Easy (which on on Amazon). I remember something I did do. This may not be a popular option because of the sodium levels. I used the soup packets out of Maruchan ramen to make broth. I like the Chicken Tortilla soup flavor, it's not spicy and available at Walmart. Also Maruchan has a Bowl called Taste of Asia Tonkotsu, which was really rich and satisfying, it looks like HT carries it. -
Spicing up clear diet
sillykitty replied to moondoggie1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, clear makes it harder ... Some ideas Miso Ginger Broth from Trader Joes Harris Teeter has a BIG broth section. The HT website indicates they carry Imagine Hearth Bone Broth, which is "Our Chicken, Beef and Turkey Bone Broth". You can check the HT site to see if your local store carries it. The website also indicates they carry Pacific Mushroom Broth (Amazon carries it if your HT doesn't). Finally Kitchen Basics Seafood Stock is carried by HT, but maybe not your HT On Amazon - There is a variety of Pho broths. There is a few different Ramen broths. There is Thai Curry Bone Broth powder. There is a variety of Miso soup powders or squeeze tubes (also probably at HT). There is something called sipping brother that comes in Lemongrass, or Pho or Curry Spice or Tomato basil. There is Lemongrass Chicken Bone Broth & Ginger Chicken Bone Broth. There is Tom Yum, powdered broth & Tom Yum pastes. There is Bone Broth, Turkey with Rosemary, Sage and Thyme. You've probably already thought of this, but maybe adding buffalo sauce so you have a little spicy and tang. Mybe some liquid salsa or taco sauce. Add some of the sauce from canned Chipotle in Adobo. In a slow cooker or Instapot you can infuse lots of different flavors into broth and strain out the solids. Like maybe tomatoes and italian spices? Or the ingredients of Tortilla soup? Or any veggie you like, maybe asparagus? Hope that helps! -
I confess....2018
sillykitty replied to TakingABreak's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks! Honestly, my recovery was quick and easy. I've not struggled with hunger, besides head hunger. I feel great. I don't have much to complain about, really! What I've struggled with the most is pretty unusual, but explaining/excusing the small amount of food I can eat, along with the fact I'm not drinking. I'm in sales so I eat out multiple times a week with colleagues and clients. Drinking is also a frequent activity. So navigating that has been challenging. I'm not sharing my WLS with anyone in my professional life. I also am not using a variation on "I'm dieting" as a reason. I have kept my feelings about my weight entirely private, and don't want to open up any discussion on that with anyone I work with.
