    To tell coworkers or not?

I agree with the need to know basis, but does anyone at work really need to know? I told my boss I was having minor abdominal surgery. I assure him I was 100% fine, and he had nothing to worry about. And IMO that is the most anyone at work needed to know. i have also found in general people have not handled the information I have given out as I had hoped and expected them to. I have had friends share this information with others. Most meant no harm, but for one it was pure gossiping which was hurtful. And my sister actually snuck into a conversation last week that I had taken the easy way out So from my own experience and from what I’ve read on these boards, there is often more regret in telling than from withholding information about your surgery.

    How am I gaining weight?!

You’re not gaining weight, the scale is simply up two pounds. These fluctuations are completely normally. Get used to it, it will happen often, down 5 up 1 etc.. As I’ve read on here before, weight loss is not linear.

    One month regression?

I hit a bump at 4 weeks post op. Up until then I had no issues with my stomach at all. At 4 weeks I was suddenly extremely nauseas and had a persistent stomach ache. The nausea lasted about a week. The stomach pain persisted, but was dull and gnawing, and only on an empty stomach, drinking water exasperated it. It slowly overtime lessened and went away entirely at about 3 minths. I spoke to my surgeon, and was told it was normal, and common.

    To tell coworkers or not?

I am over a very large group of people. I have only told two, people at work I consider friends, neither of whom I manage. I would counsel against telling those who work for you and to keep it to a small very trustworthy group if you do decide to share with anyone at work. The way I look at it this decision is very personal, as are the struggles we have been through to get us here. It is not anyone’s business other than our own and our loved ones. I certainly don’t feel it’s the business of those who report to me. This journey is hard enough without opening yourself up to judgement from those whom you have a professional relationship with. IMO it is all downside with very little upside.

    Protein Powder/Nausea

Hope you like it ... here's a pic

    Protein Powder/Nausea

There are others with plenty of protein. I use Muscle Milk Pro premade shakes because I became intolerant of whey protein. It actually has 32 g of protein vs. 30 g for Premier Protein. If you get sick of sweet drinks, I have liked several of the protein soups available here on Bariatric Pal
  7. Sounds like stomach acid. Are you on any PPI's? Zantac, Prilosec, Rantadine?

    February 2018 Success Stories

Unfortunately yes! It started a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been taking biotin since before surgery. I just ordered zinc & L-lysine, so maybe that will help.

    when did everyone first poop?

I wonder if those who went soon after surgery had to do a preop magnesium citrate colon cleanse? I did a colon cleanse, so it didn't surprise or worry me that it took a week to go, considering I was only having protein drinks and soup, and not even much of those.

    NSV

Way to go! I don't know if I've ever worn white pants!

    Not sure it's working

Each program is different. Mine doesn't have a "carb/protein ratio", it is just protein first. So for me, as long as I was hitting my protein goal, and making healthy choices otherwise (tomato soup, not ice cream), I didn't stress about it. I also sometime fortified my soups with egg white protein powder, to help meet my protein goals.
  13. This is the perfect example of everyone being different. I had little pain, and required no assistance.

    3 days post-op and...,,

Yes, I had the exact same experience. I had never realized that head hunger and physical hunger actually feel the same. I foresee managing head hunger to be a life long struggle. I just focus on my goal, and try to make good choices.

    Protein Powder/Nausea

This may or may not apply to you ... but about 3 weeks post op I became intolerant of whey protein isolate. It caused extreme nausea. So I had to find alternative protein sources. I currently use casein based premade shakes, and soy based powder. I'd suggest just experimenting and seeing what works for you

    Gatorade g2 ok?

I drank G2 only a few times when I was going through a phase where I felt lightheaded and shaky. It helped out, but not something I got into a habit of having.
  17. I took a Lyft to the hospital. Really seemed unnecessary to me to have someone drop me off. I was bored out of my mind in the hospital, so I definitely wouldn't want anyone to stay there with me. I did have someone pick me up. But even that seemed excessive. I had planned to Lyft but they insisted on picking me up. Needing someone with me to be discharged was never mentioned. And although I did have a ride home, I really don't think the hospital would have taken issue if I had take a Lyft home.
  18. Interesting. I don't restrict my carbs. But I remain in ketosis. I'm consuming so few calories, my body has no option but to pull energy from fat.

    When does it stop ...

The discomfort stopped after a few weeks of weeks. But the noisy stomach seems to be hear to stay!

    when did everyone first poop?

8 days out .... I was barely consuming anything so I wasn't concerned. I mean if nothing is going in, what's going to come out?
  21. Are you using any type of scar treatment? I am using silicone tape, and my scars are quite faded. I don't know much about the single incision. But the scars from traditional VSG are really small. I would want to make sure I'm going with a technique that has been well tested, rather than a potentially riskier one just for the sake of a few tiny scars. And I am a fairly vain person, I'm not the type to dismiss these type of concern, but truly, the scars are tiny and fading with the silicone tape I'm using.
  22. Muscle Milk Pro - 160 calories (11 oz) Same as calories as Premier Protein, but Muscle Milk has 2 more grams of protein
  23. I use My Fitness Pal, and think it's a great app. You just have to get in the habit of logging. It's not a burden once you get used to it. As far as pills go, if you work at a desk, just lay them out next to your workspace. I do that and just take one every hour or so, so I can space them out to help insure they are absorbed by my body.

    NSAIDs

I would google. I know it CA CBD is sold at smoke/vape shops. So if you have one nearby you might want to drop in.
  25. I became intolerant of whey protein isolate, but it manifested itself as nausea vs. gas. I switched to Muscle Milk Pro, and haven't had any issues since.
