    bathing suit shopping

I agree it depends. I've gone from size 20 to 14 in pants in 4 months. But I'm sure my swimsuits would still fit me. I have the suck it in type, Miraclesuit, so it has a lot of stretch and give. So I guess is it worth $65-$80 for a few months worth of wear?

    Taking the plunge

Good luck! Just my experience from having ex's and friends with various diets over the years. On a scale, pescaterian is easy peasy, tons of options and lots of good protein sources. Vegan is tough, eating out is hard, having someone cook for you is hard, convenience food is hard. On top of that plant based protein isn't as dense, so it can be hard to get enough without supplementing. When I became intolerant to whey protein I tried out various vegan protein drinks, powders and bars, and found nothing that was palatable, but YMMV. Vegetarian is somewhere in the middle, mostly with more limited restaurant choices. But I'm sure you know all this having done plants based in the past

    Adding Fruits into Your Shakes?

This is a great example of how we are all different. I need delicious in my diet. If I feel deprived of tasty things, then I am much more likely to binge on something terrible. If I can find foods that have reasonable calories and macros and still taste good, then I am much more likely to stick to my program.

When did hunger strike for you?

For me, at about 3 months I had physical hunger return. But after two weeks or so, it disappeared again. But head hunger has been a constant struggle for me. It is definitely as real and as persistent as physical hunger!
  6. Converting to bypass may lead to some initial weight loss due to the malabsorption it causes. And you may have dumping which will deter you from sweets. But honestly, have you looked into therapy for food addition? As it is said over and over, WLS is only tool, we need to relearn our eating habits. You really need to find a way to break your sugar compulsion if you want long term success.

    Non Scale Victories

I'm comfortable wearing leggings out and about, running errands and such. I used to only wear them around the house, and maybe to 7-11!

    Just Venting I guess

I think dating is the same no matter your weight. Presurgery I certainly had my share of married guys, flakes, players, etc.. What I have learned is to trust my gut. If something feels wrong, I just cut them loose and stop communicating. Every time I have ignored my gut, I found out sooner or later my instincts were correct.

    PAIN MANAGEMENT

I had Dilaudid via IV when in the hospital. And after they removed the IV, but they were taking forever to discharge me I had an oral dose of liquid Norco. I went home with Tylenol with Coedine. All of these narcotics cause a wave of extreme nausea, whether via IV or orally. So I tried to take them as infrequently as possible.
  12. I had nausea start for me at 4 weeks post op as well. It was when I had an empty stomach and drinking water made it worse. It slowly faded over time. It changed from nausea to just an uncomfortable ache. Now at 4 months post op it is very mild, and comes and goes.
  13. Also, are you on a PPI? Like Rantadine or Omeprazole? A growl-y acid-y stomach feels like hunger as well.
  14. I personally only had head hunger at that stage. Four months in, I still have little physical hunger. Others have had physical hunger from the beginning though. The thing about head hunger is it feels real! I really never understood that presurgery. Now when I feel hungry I have to think about what type of hunger it is. If it's only for something junky, it's head hunger. I have to think if I had a trigger, TV commercial, smell of food, or even writing my grocery list, if so, it's head hunger.
  15. When I first woke up in recovery is when I had the most severe pain. It was from the gas injected for the laparoscopic surgery. Once I got to my room and got some good drugs, the sharpness of the pain went away entirely. I personally never had any gas pain again. In the hospital and for several days after there was pain and soreness around my incisions, but I was able to manage without pain meds after a couple of days. Overall I'd say the surgery and recovery was waaaay easier than I had anticipated.

    Nerves,questions

I love my sleeve and have no regrets. My recovery was easy. My stomach still works as always, just with a much smaller capacity. There is nothing I can't eat. All the talk about it being a tool, and you have to change your eating habits as @Biddy zz mentioned is completely true. You still have to learn to make healthy choices. You still have to stop eating when you're full. You still have to eat only when you're hungry and not graze. You still have to learn to manage head hunger. BUT what my sleeve does for me is give me a safety net if I eat a less than healthy meal. As long as I make it a rare occurrence, then it limits the damage I can do calorie wise. In my case my sleeve has also greatly reduced my physical hunger as well. So that is a big plus, it makes it so much easier to make good choices, stick to 3 meals a day and do intermittent fasting (if that's your thing).

    Adding Fruits into Your Shakes?

It depends on your program. But personally I think fruit is part of a healthy balanced diet.

    Pity Party - WAAAAAAAH!

Definitely get a referal on Monday. We each are the best advocates for our own health. We all want to think, well, he or she is a Dr., so they know best. But we need to be informed and insistent about our own care. No one knows as much or cares as much about our bodies than we do.

    Adding Fruits into Your Shakes?

I blended fruit into my protein shakes beginning week one. As long as your sugar and calories are reasonable I can't see why not.

    Secound thoughts

It depends on your surgery, and surgeon. I was sleeved and I have no "forbidden" foods.
  21. I work from home so I took no time off work. But a week to go back into an office, desk job would have been fine. I started traveling for work at three weeks post op, so I certainly wouldn't have needed to be off and at home for more than a few days.

    Pity Party - WAAAAAAAH!

Oh man, what terrible news. Sorry, been off the site for a few days and just saw your post. It does though explain the problems you've been having. I would get in to see a Gastroenterologist ASAP. I wouldn't at all be happy with the "see you in September" response that your surgeon gave you. Honestly, he should have refereed you to an GI specialist! Your surgeon may never have seen your issue, but a Gastroenterologist will have! You need to get your esophagus issue sorted first, and your surgeon is already thinking a revision!?! Now this might be the biggest tragedy of all, lol!
  23. So much this! I'm the same, I NEVER spoke about my weight or indicated I was in anyway unhappy with that aspect of myself, to anyone, ever. So yes, people mentioning my weight loss makes me so uncomfortable.. I know people mean well, but it forces an acknowledgment there was/is an issue with my weight.

    Gum

I chew gum with no issues. Personally I would be insulted if my surgeon banned gum because "it gets swallowed". I'm an adult, not a child, I'm sure I can handle not swallowing gum.
  25. I work from home, and I technically took no time off from work. My work is no more physically taxing than surfing the internet, so it didn't make sense for me to take time off work. If I had to go into an office, I would have needed no more than a couple of days once I was out of the hospital. I was able to do laundry, water plants, cook meals starting day 3 post op, so I would have been able to do a desk job.
