    30-30-30

I observe only the 30 minutes after and I don't apply it to protein drinks.
  2. I had several dreams early on that I forgot I was sleeved, I ate and ate and felt no restriction, then I felt terrible and guilty. Clearly I was anxious about my sleeve "failing"
  3. And I love that My Fitness Pal has a huge amount of ethnic food in it's database

    Hardest Part (outside of eating)

I agree. I'm still looking for maximum weight loss at this point, with 40 more lbs to go. I don't have a lot of physical hunger fortunately, so I'm trying to take advantage of that. I haven't detected a pattern of rebound hunger, for me. Part of how I got to my weight is eating mindlessly, out of habit or boredom. So I've tried to be mindful of that. The other part is my job requires a lot of social meals. So a good part of the time I'm eating when I'm not particularly hungry. So I try to balance that with when I'm home, I only eat when my body tells me to.

    Hardest Part (outside of eating)

I'm the opposite. I only eat when my body tells me it's hungry. Some days all I have is two protein shakes, to meet my protein requirements.

    Stalls

Stalls happen over and over again. They are frustrating, but they are inevitable. Weight loss no matter if it's with WLS or not is nonlinear. We hit plateaus, we gain. BUT over time we lose. She needs to step back and look at the big picture. She lost 20+ lbs in two weeks. That is an unsustainable. Even if she stalls for a week, 20 lbs in three weeks is HUGE, if she stalls for two weeks (unlikely) 20 lbs in a month is still huge. When in her life has she lost weight that quickly? She needs to have the perspective of, I've lost 22 lbs in 15 days vs. I haven't lost anything in 3 days.
  8. You have no obligation to tell anyone. Don't bring unnecessary drama or stress into you life by telling people who won't be supportive.
  9. Have you tried taking Beano when you eat meat? It's really effective.

Can I have a half glass of Wine with a steak

I have to admit, I miss a good steak with a good glass of wine. I dine at steakhouses frequently for work. I never order a steak because I can't justify the cost (even if I'm not paying), to only eat 2 oz. So I just look on enviously while I have my soup or appetizer! (I know I can cook a steak at home, but it's just not the same IMO)

Can I have a half glass of Wine with a steak

I was speaking about prescribed to the general population, not specifically to WLS patients. I though had several heparin injections while in the hospital. I'm currently doing a lot of research on plastics, and oral blood thinners or injectable heparin is very often prescribed. My point being that it's not as if being post surgical and blood thinners are incompatible.

    What should I be expecting

Ehhh ... I feel like I should be doing more. I walk for 30-45 minutes a day 3-5 days a week. I keep telling myself to join a gym, but quite honestly I'm intimidated.

    What should I be expecting

I'm 5'3" and my surgery weight was 243. My surgeon said 80 lbs would be good, and I could probably get to 100 lbs. 100 lbs loss would put me right inside the healthy BMI range. So my goal weight is 140 lbs, so a 103 lb loss. At 4.5 months post op I'm down 64 lbs. I have no doubt I will be able to reach my goal weight and have a 100 lbs loss. I'm still losing steadily, but with stalls of course. I think a large part is commitment. I stick to the program for the most part. I eat only when I'm hungry. I focus on protein first. I make (mostly) good choices about what I eat. I'm excited to see the scale move, my body change, and have my clothes hang off me. But if you aren't committed, you can ceetainly eat around your sleeve, graze, make poor choices, and sabotage yourself.

Alcohol is not a barbiturate. As for blood thinning, considering we get blood thinners post surgery, and blood thinners are not an uncommon medication, this seems a bit over dramatic considering we are talking about a 1/2 a glass of wine.

Can I have a half glass of Wine with a steak

I have had an occasional glass of wine with a meal. IMO, that's not a big deal. But at 7 weeks steak + wine might be hard on your stomach. Just be prepared for that
  17. I think you have unrealistic expectations. You have lost nearly a lb a day. When in your life, before WLS has that been possible?
  18. Just for my own experience, I have to say that this would not have been true for me. I would have been miserable. I know from my dieting experience, I hate being hungry, it makes me disheartened and want to give up. That though is no indication that I lack commitment to WLS. It has not been reflected in my success to date.

Two week pre op liquid diet?

Totally depends on your surgeon .... no preop diet here
  20. That is why most people still have to supplement their protein, in some way, shakes bars, puddings, something. I think you are making things more difficult if you are trying to get all your protein in with purees.
  21. It seems to vary so much, I don't think you can plan it. I did all the things mentioned, pee, walk, keep liquids down, but none of it was presented as if I had to pass the test before discharge. I had an IV in, so no way to wear a robe. My gown completely covered me, front and back, so no need for pants. The hospital provided nonslip socks, so no need for a slippers. The only things I used were chapstick, phone, iPad & charging cables.

    Realistic Expectations

My watch and ring were loose on me before my clothes were.

    Realistic Expectations

Maybe that is what I will say after I get my plastics. My weight resettled into my boobs, lol!
  24. No pre op diet. Just clear liquids the day before surgery.

    Any February Sleevers?

Not untrue, lol! Soon enough my wrinkly tummy will be laying in a scrap heap in the operating room!
