I struggle with protein because I have a lot of restriction, and can't reasonably get to 60 g with food alone. I'd really love to ditch protein shakes. But I read the below article, and it scared me into drinking the damn shakes everyday http://time.com/4374959/protein-health-benefits-nutrition/

Has your food intake changed?

This is my dream! -
I have never had dry skin in my life prior to surgery. I honestly very rarely had a need to moisturize at all. But now my skin is dry, dry, dry. Even areas that have never been even a tiny bit dry before, like my stomach and upper thighs. I've been using coconut oil, just as I already had it in the house. I like how it absorbs well into my skin.

If you're eating healthy foods, why don't you eat them until you feel full and satisfied? I doubt at this point you'd be able to eat more than a couple of ounces of solid protein. No reason to be hungry, as long as you are making good choices

I fly nearly weekly and used to dread flights I wasn't upgraded on. But now I fit in a regular seat comfortably! I can also work much more easily on flight, I don't feel as awkward and squished.

Maybe just how we define cheating? From reading these posts most of my days I'm out of town would be scandalous. But if I stick around 600 cals or less and hit protein on those day, I don't feel a bit guilty. I feel guilty when I have to go out of my way to make bad choices. Healthy food in the house, but Uber Eats is at the door. Hundereds of times going to a C-stores without tempation, just get my diet coke (again, no guilt), but end up buying and eating half a package of cookies. So maybe a question for another thread, what do you consider a cheat, vs, a part of a balanced and moderate diet? -

Make beef soup, strain out the meat. Puree the veg with the broth. Lots of good beefy flavor. -

You could have made far worse choices! You don't need to feel so guilty. -

Yogurt? SF jello with yogurt? Laughing cow cheese? How many soups have you tried? Ethnic soups like hot and sour or Tom Yum? Pacific Brand or Trader Joe's brand Tomato with Roasted Pepper in an aseptic box was a particular favorite of mine. Can you do full liquids? I made lentil soup and pureed it. -
I agree with this. I have learned my full feeling, and rarely overeat. Most recently was a month ago with a sushi roll. That was because the pieces were big, and of course it's awkward to take bites. So 2 1/2 pieces would have been perfect, 3 pieces was too much. I also can just take one bite of something and be satisfied. I find no need to keep going back for it. For instance fries, bite of cake, chips and salsa, mac and cheese. It is truly so freeing.

I work from home, so I took no time off. My neighbor and good friend is a middle school teacher. She was sleeved two months before me. She took a total of two weeks off. She was a little tired, bu otherwise did well. -
Exciting and brave!

Yeah, if that was the risk I'd have my hair oiled up and silk sleeping cap on 24/7!

Pre-op diet question. Please help!
sillykitty replied to Kella112's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think this take is a bit extreme. Many of us, including myself, had no pre op diet. So it certainly isn't a necessity. I'm not saying go against Dr.'s orders, but this isn't something universally agreed upon by Bariatric surgeons like "protein first". Also the OP's description of being forced to buy dehydrated food isn't the norm, and sounds worse than the normal pre op diet. I have never felt "starved, angry, emotional", at all. Well only emotional when I'm losing my hair by the handful maybe. This isn't some kind of torturous process, for me at least. I have never lost weight so easily before in my life. -
