Weightloss and Curves
sillykitty replied to Boujee_Susie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 70 lbs down, and my curves are still here. I have 30 more to go, and I'm confident that my curves will only get better -
Yeah, but these taste like normal tortillas
-
I like La Tortilla Factory - Low Carb Tortillas (Traditional Flour). It tastes identical to a regular flour tortilla.

When did you really start to feel restriction?
sillykitty replied to EsoKev's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally normal. No restriction with liquids whatsoever, from the beginning. But I just had an ounce of chicken and I'm totally stuffed. Five months out now. -
Let's compare!

I guess it would be depend on the nature of the meeting. If it was a long, strategic, logistics type meeting, then bottled water is usually provided. But mostly I am in business reviews or sales pitches. I can only tell you I've never seen anyone bring water to those, and I wouldn't feel comfortable doing so. -
Although I believe that Rants and Raves can and should be more blunt than the rest of this forum. I don't think there is any place for mocking social movements that sprang from issues as serious as BLM did. And let's be honest, any of the variations of BLM have at least some degree of racism (being generous).

Put these in order of importance on how they effect weight loss
sillykitty replied to Creekimp13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Interesting perspective, and I can't say I disagree, even though it doesn't "fit" me. I definitely in general feel I'm in control of the events in my life, at least to the extent anyone can be. But I chose luck and skill of my surgeon as the most important factor because I've failed to lose in the past, but now I have been so successful, with relative ease. I don't feel I can take credit for that. -
Put these in order of importance on how they effect weight loss
sillykitty replied to Creekimp13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Most Important Luck/Skill of the Surgeon - I have very little hunger and it seems more restriction than most at this stage. Least Important Supportive home environment - I live alone, so there is that. But I spend a lot of otherwise personal time working. Of course no ones knows of my WLS, but that environment is not conducive to a healthy diet, lots of alcohol and rich meals. I've had wine poured for me, shots bought for me, and lots of pressure to eat more and have a drink/s. Exercise - This is terrible to admit, but aside from walking on days I'm home, I don't exercise. Unknown Mental Health/Emotional Stability - I'm a pretty level headed person. No mental health issues. I think what is helpful in this journey is having some perspective. For me, WLS hasn't been hard in any real way. Easiest weight I have ever lost. Although stalls annoy me, I know they are inevitable, and it's only a matter of time and I'll start losing again. Don't many people on here have a lot of success, but still seem to think the sky is falling at times Diet - I know that my food logs would give some people on here fits, mostly due to how much dining out I do, and that I'm not usually ordering the grilled chicken. But I do keep my calories really low, but that of course gives other people fits . But I'm able to keep my calories low due to my restriction and lack of hunger, so back to #1. Will to Succeed - I want to believe this is a factor. But if I didn't have the lack of hunger, restriction and such fast and visible results, would I have been discouraged and fallen off he wagon like all the times in the past? -
Check with your surgeon. I was allowed pills as soon as I could tolerate them.
-
I switched to pills vs. chewables at that point.
-
That happened to me even pre surgery. Vitamins are one of the few things that bother my iron stomach. Ask your Dr if you can swallow pills? I was able to early on. I take Whole Foods Prenatal, and they don't bother my stomach at all.
-
I eat a fair amount of vegetables. I eat a lot of cucumbers. Also, coleslaw (with Marzetti's lite dressing), summer squash & asparagus (sauteed or grilled).

I thought this would be a thread about our personal victories, even if others wouldn't see them as so. I received a coupon for Grubhub. I just could. not. resist. I built so many carts. McDonald's (mmm... McNuggets), Hot dogs (local made, gourmet!), Taqueria (sopes el pastor, yum!), Vietnamese egg rolls (crunchy deliciousness!) I settled on my true love ... Thai food. Green papaya salad, pananag curry, nam tok (ground pork with peanuts and spices). You know what I didn't get, rice or noodles (Pad See Ew, I miss you!). I even just ate the meat and veg out of the curry, left the calorie laden sauce behind. So even though ordering in food may not have been as wise as making my own food. I'm proud of myself for making good choices, when there were so many poor ones I could have made.

Off topic for this post, but I would love some of your coleslaw dressing recipes!

Unconventional Wins
sillykitty replied to sillykitty's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You look great! Same here! Having pictures of myself I can be proud of is one of the reasons I'm looking forward to vacation next month! -
Lol, I was think, wow, of all the things, that's what you want to be reported

Don't you think you undermine your message that you think Creek is a bully, when you say the things you have in this thread? I participated in the thread you are referring to. I didn't read Creek's comments in the same way you did. It's my belief that @FluffyChix can dish it out, but can't take it. She doesn't hesitate to put her opinions out there, but when she is challenged she picks up her toys and goes home. Just my opinion. I'm not done losing, I look forward to looking good naked as well as clothed (And vanity is one of my main drivers to have had WLS) And for the record, Creek and I are not buddies and have had no interactions beyond can be read on this public forum.

This is in Rants and Raves, so I believe it is fair game. We're all big boys and girls here

Eating out during soft food stage
sillykitty replied to Dee_Rose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soup! Definitely preempt the questions about how little you're eating by making some excuse. Been ill, had a late lunch, something. -
Sleeved here ... Maki rolls are the only way I like rice now after surgery. I've tried bites of rice about a half dozen time different ways, pilaf, with curry etc, and it just tastes dry and mealy. And I loved rice pre surgery. It doesn't bother my sleeve though, but nothing does.

Let's compare!
sillykitty replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When I'm working from home, I get 64 oz about 80% of the time. I rarely get more than that. (Not including protein shakes or soup) When I'm traveling, ugh, some days maybe 16 oz? Never more than 32 oz. I've given up, I don't even try to hit 64 oz. I mean, I can't carry a Yeti around with me all the time, bring it to customer meetings? I can't just stop in and buy bottled water all the time. Can't drink during or after meals. I used to drink quite a bit on planes. But that bit me in the ass one time, so I'm hesitant. I really had to pee, but we had started our descent, so I held it, then on the ground we had to wait and wait for a gate, I was dying. I finally just got up and told the FA I was pregnant and couldn't hold it anymore. That was half true at least! I get the most water in when I'm out at bars. But water is never refilled as quickly as alcohol, so that slows me down. It's funny, four pints of beer is 64 oz, and that was no problem what so ever, just getting started for the evening. Four pints of water feels like an impossible task -
I know the feeling. I recently cleaned out 95% of my closet. I'v even given away clothes that I had to buy as I have been losing, so "new" clothes. I gave away favorites. I gave away clothes I only wore once because they were for special occasions. I gave away my "pretty bras", that got far too little use. I gave away 10 winter coats. My closet has 10x's the number of of empty hangers vs. hangers being used. I've had to buy quite a bit of new clothes, even though I'm still losing, because I have to look professional. The trash bags full of clothes literally cost me tens of thousands of dollars. So, yeah, I have definitely grieved. But it is balanced by how much I love they way I look in my new clothes. How exciting it is to get out of plus sizes. How much more confident I feel when I'm wearing my new clothes.

Kind of ironic @MIZ60 believes @Creekimp13 is a bully. "soul is ugly" "very rude queen of crappy carbs" "jump in and run your mouth. pure class" So ... @Creekimp13 has strong opinions. That's great, where would this board be without them? She and I have disagreed. But you know what, we disagreed respectfully, because Creek's way wouldn't work for me, and my way wouldn't work for Creek, but you know what, it's works for each of us. It is a simple fact that for most people, diets that limit the foods that you can eat do not work long term. Of course there are exceptions, but if these diets were easy to stick to, how many of us would have needed WLS? Just Google to see the research done on this. BTW, I weigh the same as Creek, I'm 3 inches shorter, and I LOVE the way I look (in clothes) . Are you going to tell me I shouldn't?

Traveling out of the US, Vacation tips?
sillykitty replied to ChaosUnlimited's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Glad you had an easy time eating healthily! IME, Europe and a lot of the world is "farm to table", only you don't have to pay the inflated prices for it, like you do in the US. What airline did you fly? In general special order meals tend to be a bit sad, again, IME. -
Protein-fat-carbs combination best for breaking stalls
sillykitty replied to Alioop47's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I agree, there is no magic formula. There are many successful people on here who have followed wildly different plans. Stalls happen no matter what. They happen no matter what you're eating and what you're doing. Weight loss is non linear, period.
