Didn't your surgeon give you a plan?

How often do you weigh yourself?
sillykitty replied to AEdoesRnY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here, every morning that I am home. I log everyday, loss or gain. BUT, I do not stress when I gain or go into a stall. -
Sex. Seriously how long after surgery should I wait?

I have a question for those whom are able to stonewall and give non answers .... how do you do it? There is no way in my professional life I would just be able to give non answers about my weight loss and eating habits. This is also complicated by the fact I'm not willing to say, "I'm dieting, I'm watching what I eat", etc.. I have never admitted to having any issues with my weight. I have always projected confidence about who I am, and admitting to wanting to change myself would be acknowledging that was a lie. Dining out is a a big part of my job. I may dine with some people a few times a year. But others I may have 3 meals a day with 3-4 days straight. The amount I can eat is so small (1-2 oz) it is always noticed. Even if I were to say "I'm watching what I eat", there is no way what I can eat is considered a healthy or balanced approach. No doubt people would assume I have an eating disorder. Additionally, my weight loss has been so dramatic, it is not something that is achievable with normal dieting (if I was going to use the "watching what I eat" excuse). I know there are people at my company seriously concerned about my health. Some of this is genuine care. But a large part is succession planning. If I were to become suddenly unable to do my job, that would obviously cause a considerable problem. So is my situation just unique? I can't imagine how I could not answer any questions about this day after day?

I had wls NOT brain surgery. My experience
sillykitty replied to Redapples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take B complex as well. I added it when I was researching hair loss. The sublingual I take is 1000 mcg. I take it every other day. Between everything I'm sure I'm completely over doing it on B12, since the body has a limited ability to absorb and store B12. But feeling shaky and weak sucks, so I'm playing it safe on the B12 amount. -
I love these bras for around the house and running errands https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M1GE7DC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1 I have found though that they are not flattering now that my boobs have deflated. I still wear them, but not to see anyone I would want to impress

I found this very interesting. It talks about Ghrelin and how it affects both food and alcohol cravings https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-human-hunger-hormone-might-cure-alcoholism-3?via=newsletter&source=DDMorning

Study on Ghrelin
sillykitty replied to sillykitty's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I thought that since no part of the stomach is removed during the RNY, Ghrelin production was not expected to be diminished? I could be wrong though .... -
I was going by what you said ... you would eat the 10 lbs over a month. If you do so, that would be 5 1/3 oz a day, and it would contain 96 g of sugar
-
Just be aware that eating 10 lbs of dates over a month is: 90 g of sugar a day 400 calories a day Only 3.5 g of protein a day
-
My point is, you had already made up your mind, what's the point in asking?
-
Then what's the point in asking?

I'm on the very low end of the calorie scales, especially for being at 5.5 months post op. I am usually at 400-500 calories per day.

I had wls NOT brain surgery. My experience
sillykitty replied to Redapples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had this issue early on, starting about 3 weeks post op. I was shaky, weak, any exertion made me feel like I was going to pass out. But it was not calories I needed. I needed B12. I got a shot from my surgeon's office, and now I take sublingual B12 supplements. I'm at 5.5 months post op, and my calories are very low. Most days I am around 400 calories. I have no issues with energy level at all. Don't delude yourself into thinking, I need calories, I need sugar. That is just our brain that got us to the point of needing WLS telling us that. Get your protein in, get your liquids in, talk to your Dr. about B12, and you will be fine -
Lol ... good, because I worry I'm deluding myself about not being delusional

Taking this article from another thread https://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/02/health/biggest-loser-weight-loss.html?rref=collection%2Fseriescollection%2Fthe-science-of-fat&action=click&contentCollection=health®ion=stream&module=stream_unit&version=latest&contentPlacement=9&pgtype=collection But a greatly slowed down metabolism could explain why people are eating low calories, but still gaining

This week I did a lot more hair manipulation than usual. I washed multiples times, blow dried, flat ironed .... and minimal hair loss!! I can't even believe how relived this makes me

At about 10 days out, it sounds way too early for ceviche .... But when you're cleared for all foods, I've had no problem with any food, including ceviche, and lots of different seafoods, raw and cooked.

Are Frequent Stalls Normal???
sillykitty replied to mav2126's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, absolutely ... Here is my weight loss chart .... no one's will ever be a straight line. -
Saw several colleagues this week. Last time I saw them was 2.5 month post op, and I am now 5.5 month post op. I received so many compliments. Everyone ws blown away by my transformation. I'm grateful for the reassurance. I feel like I look fantastic, and it's good to think I'm not being delusional.

I had an odd experience this week. I was in a restaurant restroom, more dressed up and more effort was put into my hair and make up than usual, I looked in the mirror, and literally didn't recognize myself. My face looks so different! I feel like my body has changed gradually, slowly, proportionately, shrinking. But my face changed overnight it feels like.

Starting to Freak Out (Hair)
sillykitty replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lost a lot of hair from months 3-5. Judging from the diameter of my pony tail I would say 40-50% of the volume. But, literally no one can tell, unless I pull my hair back and the loss at my hairline and temples becomes obvious. And everyone will be so amazed at how good you look from your weight loss, they won't even notice your hair. -

How Much Protein?
sillykitty replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think 60 is much more common, that is my goal. As @RickM said "people are into overkill"
