How did you decide plastics was right for you?
sillykitty replied to LaLaDee's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I haven't had plastics yet, but I when I made the decision to have WLS, I knew that I would need/want plastics as well. As @newmebithebypass said "I'm not going thru this whole process and not look good naked". I am also single. Although I am dating now with my deflated boobs and wrinkly tummy, it is not ideal, obviously. This I don't get at all. Why does your family even get to have an opinion on this? You're an adult, this is your decision, period. -
Email in use by another member?
sillykitty replied to GreenTealael's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I got the same thing ... but I think it was just a site hiccup. It said I would stop receiving emails, but I haven't. -
Normal! I have low blood pressure when my weight is in the overweight range or lower. It was in the normal range when I was obese. So for me, going forward it will be an everyday thing. If I get up too quickly I get dizzy. I just stop for 5 seconds or so and it passes.

When did you start counting carbs and exercising
sillykitty replied to Jpsl1028's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly this! I track everything in My Fitness Pal. Most days are low carb, but not necessarily by design. Just make healthy decisions, putting lean protein first. No reason to panic! -
Cauliflower and Broccoli???
sillykitty replied to likehasjustbegun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m guessing because gassy foods can cause discomfort or perhaps stain on the staple line. I don’t think gas alone would cause a leak but I think it’s safe to assume, better be safe than sorry during the initial healing process. But gas is caused by your body being unable to digest raffinose, and your gut bacteria fermenting it. That happens in your large intestine. The average small intestine is 20 ft long, so even after RNY that is such a significant distance, it couldn't affect a staple line. Just my opinion, but it seems like NUTS don't always have strong reasoning for some of the instructions they give. -
Cauliflower and Broccoli???

I'm sorry, but this makes no sense to me. I'm not sure why gassiness would make a food off limits? -
Has anyone tried any types of bread??
sillykitty replied to likehasjustbegun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a big believer in balance, and not having any "forbidden" foods. I've had bread many times in the last 6 months post op. I've made sandwich with whole wheat bread. I've had pita bread at middle eastern restaurants. I've eaten from the bread basket. I've eaten a sandwich from a sandwich shop. I've eaten pizza. I've eaten flat bread. I've had a burger on a bun. I've had brushcetta. But it has all been in small quantities. I have a lot of restriction, so even if I fill up from a sandwich it is less than 2 oz total. It may not work for everyone, but it has worked for me. I've lost weight at a pace I'm happy with. I have an iron stomach, so nothing bothers it. -
Silicone gel, tape, patches has been proven to be effective for scar reduction. It is what plastic surgeons universally recommend.

Dealing with those not supportive

I agree with @GreenTealael Minimize negative people in your life. Even if they are family. Why have people around you who want you unhappy? -
I Said I Wouldn't Do It....
sillykitty replied to IveGotThePower's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For me, once I got into the habit of it, it's not a big hassle to do so. I think MFP is amazing, especailly considering it's free. I'm not neurotic about it, I don't weight or measure things like spinach. I do weight most things though, cheese, jerky, salad dressing, meat, beans, etc. I don't cook a lot. It's pretty pointless when I can only eat 2 oz. But when I do I use MFP recipe builder. It works really well, IMO. For a big recipe I just guesstimate on the number of servings. I eat out a lot, and mostly at non chains. I also generally use the highest calorie option for a dish. I don't stress out too much over it, I figure logging, even if it is 100% accurate gives me a better record than not logging. MFP is fantastic about having ethnic dishes in their data base. -
Will I be too sore for a demo lesson (interview) 3 days after surgery???
sillykitty replied to jultrim18's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I could have done it. I had a very easy recovery. But I agree, you won't be at your best. -

Reconsidering Goal Weight
sillykitty replied to sillykitty's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I feel like I'm entering into unknown territory. Up until this point it has been straight forward, follow the plan (mostly!), and lose weight, simple! But now I'm just over 20 lbs to goal. Weight continues to come off relatively rapidly, and fairly steady (stalls, but no plateaus). How do I find the right balance? This is pure vanity. I want my thighs to look much better than they do right now. But I really love my butt, it's like the only thing I love about my naked body right now, so it's important to me I keep it. Also, this is probably a ridiculous worry, because of all the issues people have on this board, this is super rare. But how do I stop losing weight when I decide I'm at goal? I have a TON of restriction. This combined with little hunger, keeps my calories really low. Even on days I go off the rails, I have never reached 1000 calories. Maybe my body will find it's new set point, and I won't have to worry about it? I never thought this would be a concern. I figured like most people I'd have to fight to even make it this far. -
On Depo I had no period at all, no spotting, anything, after the 1st 3 months. I LOVED it! Did it cause weight gain? I'm not sure because I went through a lot of lifestyles changes during those years, and didn't practice a healthy lifestyle. So hard to know if it contributed. One thing that scared me off Depo, was the many studies showing it caused a loss of Bone Mineral Density. I finally figured it wasn't worth the risk the me long term health, sadly https://nwhn.org/depo-provera-and-bone-mineral-density/ I currently have the Mirena IUD, which I got right before my WLS, 6 months ago. I chose it because usually women have no periods on it. I have lots of friends who love it and have had that experience. I had a few normal periods after getting it, and now have annoying, unpredictable spotting. I'm hoping that will go away soon.

Good luck with the Nuva ring. Just a word of warning, if I took the ring out for more than a few hours it would always trigger a start of a period for me. It was super annoying to me, because I prefer to have no period at all.

Should weight matter in a relationship?
sillykitty replied to Numbheart's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The absolute best revenge would be sending him pics of my current hotness (and future hotter-ness ). That would hit him where it hurts. Because I know I was the best sex he'd ever had, and I doubt he's found better in the last 4 years -

I weigh i every morning I'm home. Naked and after I use the restroom. BUT, I'm not easily stressed out or obsessive. If I stall, it sucks, but I totally realize it's normal and part of the process. I have no expectation that the scale will drop every day. So I'd only recommend weighing in daily if you can keep a healthy perspective about it.

But expensive doesn't mean higher quality necessarily

At 4 weeks post op I became intolerant of whey protein, shakes, bars, protein water, etc.. They all made me extremely nauseous. I switched to non whey based protein, mainly casein (Muscle Milk premade shakes) and soy. I also like several of the soups offered here this site, non sweet and not whey based.

Shakes and getting enough protein
sillykitty replied to E G's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you need 3 shakes a day? Most programs require 60 g protein. Two Premier Protein Shakes would cover that. Or one and then a combo of yogurt / fairlife milk / protein fortified soup, etc., would get you to your protein goal. -
This might be me

Glad to see someone with longish term low calories like myself. Like you, it's not necessarily purposeful, it's about my lack of hunger and restriction.

@GreenTealael You look AMAZING!
