    Constipation

Great plan! Good luck! In the meantime, keep walking and drinking water - that helps too!
  2. Can totally finish one, I drank one just now over the course of 30-40 minutes.

    Constipation

I took milk of magnesia evening of day three or four and had a BM the next morning. It’s totally normal but my surgeon/team told me to take MOM or something if I hadn’t had a BM four days out.

    Flinstones multivitamins??

My NUT recommended the flint stones chewable with iron - I take two in the morning and two in the afternoon, starting one week after surgery!
  5. I got excited and put 1/2 my 11 oz choco premier protein, a few ounces of skim milk, a lot of ice, and a lone tablespoon of peanut butter in my nutribullet blender and it was DELICIOUS and then I felt SO nauseous/ill/disgusting and had to lay down for an hour. I think I was excited and drank too fast, but it also seems that maybe it's too soon for peanut butter. I had about 2/3 of it before feeling terrible... Has anyone tried PB2? Any thoughts?
  6. Oh no! I’ve been looking forward to bananas! I was thinking of making a smoothie with chocolate premier protein and banana and a little peanut butter (or PB2)...I’ll have to take it slow!!

    Caffeine

Accidentally ordered an iced tea with caffeine (misread the label at the coffee shop because I was flustered and needed to make a quick decision with line behind me). I had half of a small caffeinated iced tea (half black, half green, no sweetener or anything else in it) and I am WIRED af. I was so productive but will have a lot of trouble getting to sleep tonight. The problem is now I remember what being caffeinated feels like after weaning off and being coffee free since mid-July! Very dangerous! Going to have to ask my NUT again if/when reintroducing caffeine might be okay, especially with the school year starting up!

    OK, what have you lost?

I have lost the amount of cheese the average American eats in a year...but I probably have to lose SEVERAL more pounds before I lose the amount of cheese I used to eat in a year 😬😬😬

    Liquid Phase

Try out Millie’s sipping broths - spicy tortilla and curry spice! Yum! Those work for clear liquid stage too!
  10. That sounds good! I can’t wait to do that kind of thing once I’m on solids, but no such luck until 9/3. Bought an avocado yesterday so it’ll be NICE AND RIPE for me to make a puréed guac on Monday when I progress to puréed foods!
  11. I'm going to pureed foods starting on MONDAY! Been daydreaming about salsa and guacamole...who needs chips?? Oh and also that famed ricotta bake, can't wait! Also, I hope it's okay to gush because...I JUST HIT 30 POUNDS DOWN TODAY! Counting my two week pre-surgery liquid diet and the almost three weeks since surgery I have lost THIRTY FREAKING POUNDS!!! HOLY FREAKING SH**!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!! 236 is my first goal - it's the lowest weight I've been in the last decade - and now I'm only like 16 pounds away from that. THAT IS NUTS! I've had multiple days of no losses and even gains the past week and have been feeling discouraged/worried about what things would be like when I progress from my current liquid stage, so I had to share the rebound! Sorry if that's annoying to do here!!

    Air Fryer...Convince Me?

    Thank you for the reassurance!!
  13. Okay, so multiple times in the past few days I've come across people raving about their air fryers. I have a lot of kitchen gadgets already (including my beloved instant pot), and not a WHOLE lot of room for more of them...BUT I also like getting new kitchen gadgets, especially if it'll save me time/energy/mess and make me more likely to actually cook. I'm still in liquid post-op phase until 8/20, but since I'm day dreaming about cooking and eating real food anyway, I'm curious: Do you have an air fryer? Is it worth it? Should I get one?

HELP! What am I doing wrong?

A blender bottle with the metal ball in it works well for the powders I find! Sometimes I have to let it sit for a few minutes to let the foam calm down!
  15. I was told that anything I took had to be small enough to fit both ways through a straw, otherwise they need to be crushed. If I cut them into quarters to swallow, I had to spread it out over the course of four “sips”. (I was on a plan of 1 ounce every 15 minutes my first couple days home)

    Ordering bridesmaid dress?

If it’s already ordered it’ll come in plenty of time for you to let them know if you need an exchange if it’s too small. When it arrives check with the vendor to see how long an exchange would take, if they say, for example, two weeks, then I’d try on the dress 3-4 weeks before the wedding and if it’s still too small then go ahead with the exchange!
  17. Good luck! It’s nice that you’re starting from a place of her being a big supporter - sharing how those comments make you feel and asking her to try a different tack will make a big difference!
  18. Yeah, I just feel like there’s something so specifically complicated about moms and daughters and their relationship around weight, at least it always has been for me. Any negative comments, etc, from my mom have always been from a place of wanting me to be happy/being scared or sad for me. But just because they’re well-intentioned doesn’t mean they don’t feel crappy. The rule I made with my family was that they weren’t allowed to comment on it unless I brought it up first, and I specifically gave parameters around what kinds of comments would be nice and what kinds of comments would make me uncomfortable/upset/etc. They’ve slipped up but at least when it happens I can just say “hey remember the ground rules I sent!” Rather than it being a whole thing!
  19. Ah, shit...mothers and daughters and weight, am I right? Can you set some ground rules with her? Like you’re not allowed to comment on my weight/weight loss/appearance/etc? I did that with my immediate family (besides husband) because I anticipated all sorts of well intentioned but very upsetting comments...
  20. That’s how I feel too, Monday makes three weeks. I gained back over a pound this morning. My anxiety has been convincing me that this is all I’m going to lose. That once I FINALLY graduate to puréed foods next week I’m going to gain some of it back and then I’ll just have done this big thing for nothing. That or the only way I’m going to have any success on this is to eat only 500’cal per day, workout for like four hours a day, and never eat anything yummy ever again. Anxiety is dumb but powerful. (Edited to add: I’m down 15lbs since my surgery on 7/30. I lost about 12-13 pounds during the pre-op which I started on 7/16.)

    Ordering bridesmaid dress?

Remember it's super easy and fast for a tailor to (cheaply) take in a dress that's too big, a lot harder for them to give you more room if it's too small. I bought a bridesmaids dress for a wedding I was in and ended up losing a bunch of weight between ordering and the actual wedding. I think it took $35 and two days for a tailor to pin it where I wanted it to fit and for me to get it back!

    Air Fryer...Convince Me?

That makes sense, I didn’t think of that! I like the idea of having something for convenient reheating because I think leftovers are going to be a big thing for me now that I’ll be doing smaller portions! I’ve still got four more days of liquids before I get to puréed foods and I’m not feeling any restriction really at all, so I’m nervous about whether my tummy is that small after all! I’m hoping that once I move to puréed and soft foods I’ll feel differently, maybe after just about three weeks post-op my system is too used to the liquids!

    I Can Run

That is exciting and impressive!! Thanks for sharing your inspirational NSV!!! I can’t wait to feel healed enough to start C25K! Jogging/running and doing races is one of the things I’m most excited about on this journey!!

    Air Fryer...Convince Me?

@sillykitty do you think a 3.4 QT would be big enough for two people generally? I'm still not 100% decided but I'm leaning toward wanting one!
