I love reading all the successful progress updates! Way to go

I’m on puréed foods until 3/23. I’m having a hard time getting in Protein unless I drink a shake for every meal (and by then I’m too full to even think about anything else). I’m averaging about 400 calories each day. I’m doing okay with Vitamins and my energy level is good. I went back to work a week after surgery. I just struggle with finding puréed foods I can tolerate that have sufficient protein. Hoping the soft food phase will open up some options for me.

Hey there! Just thought I would check to see how you’re feeling.
I’m doing okay. I’m struggling to get in my Protein everyday, but no major complaints. My biggest issue right now is the Vitamins. I hate the taste of them and they make me feel bad after I take them. My NUT told me to hold off another week before taking them. She said I could wait until week 2 to try again. What vitamins do you use?

In process with Bagshahi - anyone know if they weigh you when you go do your Quest labs? I’m in such a precarious position where I cannot gain or lose in order for insurance to approve. It’s making me crazy! Lol
They did not weigh me at Quest. I could be wrong, but I think they submit the original weight from your first appointment. Dr. Bagshahi’s office is very familiar with insurance requirements and they will do what they can to help get it approved.

That’s who’s doing my procedure. Are you pleased?
Very much so. He took a lot of time answering my questions and never made me feel rushed. He was very patient. The procedure itself went well and no complications so far! I would definitely recommend him to anyone considering wls.

I’m in Fort Worth! Just had a RNY on Thursday 2/15!

Hi all, had my Gastric Bypass yesterday at 8:30 a.m. went really well. No pain except where the drain is (it will be taken out this morning before they release me). The hardest part was them trying to take blood for labs this morning) The best part, a healthier life to look forward to.
Good luck to everyone already recovering this month and all of you that still awaiting your surgery.
Im so glad you’re doing well! I’m also happy to hear some positive recovery stories My surgery is Thursday. I’m not too nervous but it seems all I see lately are horrible stories about recovery. It’s refreshing to hear good stuff.

My doctor didn’t mention anything about Magnesium Citrate. I am on a clear liquid diet for 10 days prior to surgery. Does everyone do the Magnesium Citrate?

I’m so very sorry. What a mess. I wish I could do something to fix it. But hey, it sounds like the sleep doctor might be able to write a note for you. Don’t give up yet. No matter how difficult this process is, you’re stronger. Just think, a year from now you will look back and think how all of this was worth it. Sometimes, the greatest adventures in life are those that are the most difficult in the beginning. You can do this!
I am very sorry all this is happening. Feel free to vent anytime! We’re here for you!

I'm feeling pretty rough at the moment. There have been some bureaucratic shenanigans that might move my surgery date which is extremely upsetting due to all of the issues with my husband's disability and our health insurance, and ever since I found out about it I have been a wreck. They told me to stay on my liquid diet, though, so that seems like a good sign. I should hopefully have a definitive answer tomorrow.
I’m so sorry. That stinks! Maybe, they’ll move the surgery up if anything.

Today is my Day 2. Today, has been harder than yesterday. I have a mild headache that won’t go away and I feel like I’m in some kind of brain fog. It’s hard to concentrate. I’m hoping tomorrow will be better.
On a positive note, I tried some chicken bouillon Soup from BariLife and it was yummy. It was a nice break from the other clear Protein meals.

I was just thinking it might help with motivation.

Is anyone using the ketone strips during the pre op diet phase?

What popsicles are you eating?

I’m sorry that yesterday was tough. I hope today is a bit easier. On a side note, I think you are an excellent writer. You crack me up!
Another person recommended a book and I just started it. It is very insightful and offers some good tips. You should read it. If nothing else, it’s a good destruction and reinforces the positive changes you are making during this Pre Op phase.
Keep up the good work!

Yay! Glad you finally heard back from them.

Of course! When is your surgery scheduled?
-
Just had my final consult with my dietician before my surgery. I found out that my surgeon recommends two packets of BariLife Vitamin powder everyday. It will end up costing around $30 a month. That is much better than I anticipated. https://www.barilife.com/product-category/bariatric-vitamins/complete-bariatric-multivitamin-powder/

Make that triplets -- bypass for me on the 15th as well. [emoji3]
yay! When do you start your pre op diet?

Thanks Orionburn. I’m scheduled for bypass but read something on another Facebook support group that mentioned the financial burden after surgery. While I have discussed the Vitamin requirement with my surgeon, I was starting to wonder how much more it was in comparison to VSG. I’m probably just nervous because my surgery is coming up in Feb.

This has been a rough week. I caught a virus and have been throwing up/ dry heaving all day Monday. I ended up in the ER where I was able to get two IV bags and some Phenergan. Yesterday, I was able to get about 50 oz of fluids down. This morning, I’m back at work and tried to get some Protein in. I don’t think my stomach is quite ready for it yet. The good news is that I’ve been able to keep Water down today. It’s hard to stay hydrated when you can only sip between bouts of nausea.
Hopefully, things will get better from here
