Hello! I am visiting this board for the first time in quite a while, and I just came upon your post. I won't mince words or be apologetic for getting my surgery at such a "low" BMI (some can be judgy!). I was not quite a 30 bmi when I had my surgery (almost exactly 2 years ago). I had it done in Mexico. I had zero comorbidities. I got the surgery because I have always been very active, but struggled constantly with being overweight and binge eating. It cause a large amount of depression and anxiety. I was tired of dieting and not keeping it off. I was 37 years old with 3 young kids.
Getting the surgery was the very best thing I have ever done for myself! It is two years later and I have kept the weight off. I also don't believe people need to wait until they are super obese with failing health to get the surgery. I was only getting older, continuing to gain weight, and I wasn't going to wait any longer! Since the surgery I have become a black belt in Taekwondo, run more miles than I can count, changed my career, moved to a different state, and made lots of friends who like to be active too. The weight loss has helped me in these things by either just plain being physically smaller (exercise) or moving and making new friends and starting a new career (confidence).
I am a huge proponent of bariatric surgery, even at a "low" bmi. Good luck with your decision!

Im due for sleeve on the 6th but havent been asked to undergo a pre-op diet so far. I have emailed but thought I would bring it up on here.
My BMI is low (31) and im wondering if this has something to do with it.
Ive started my own pre-op liquid diet just to be safe, but has anyone else had a similar experience?

Went shopping today for new work clothes and I NEEEVVEEERRR thought in a million years I would wear a size 4/6... I'm so THANKFUL to God for this opportunity and even though I may fall short at times, I'm going to work HARD to never go back to where I was before.....

No regrets, and I agree with what everyone above said. I'm almost 8 months out now, and what you're feeling now will change for the better. Our bodies go through so many changes immediately post op it can really throw things off, but it adjusts, and you get used to the new normal.

what you are going through is normal for many in the early post op period. it is the hormone dump from rapid fat loss and the adjustment to the healing (I remember thinking "OMG am i going to be burping my way through every meal forever?" Now I read posts like yours and go "oh yeah, i forgot about that part". you will feel totally normal in 3-6 months (for me it was 2 months, but i'm a quick healer)...I'm 15 months now, in and if it weren't for:
being amazed every time i look at a picture of myself wondering why i don't get winded anymore, ever wondering how far i need to push myself on the treadmill to get my heart rate into the cardio zone wondering how the hell these size 2 pants fit me, because that makes no sense at all ...i would not remember I had surgery.

You'll never feel the way you use to... And it's kinda the point .
You'll have to exercise longer to feel winded
You'll forget why you used to over eat
You'll finally start peeking on the juniors size side of the store (oops that's me)
You'll start arguing with food labels questioning why so much sugar (seriously why? It's just yogurt)
You'll take way too many selfies from all your new found good angles
You'll forget what being heavy feels like
You may even forget you ever felt any regrets...
