I'm in the same calorie area as you . Today I'm at 709 calories. I'm 2 months post op with a duodenal switch. I haven't gone over 1000 calories. I'm eating well and not holding back. Just eat until I'm satisfied.

That's great!!! That was my main reason for surgery. I was insulin dependent, with high doses. I've been off insulin since leaving the hospital. Surgery was 2 months ago.

I was a 5.... had a lot of pain. Slept in the recliner until I could lay in the bed. I moved very slow. Then again I'm 63, and age may factor into my recovery.

    I'm now 2 months out and at a 10.

At first I couldn't get enough popsicles. Even when I was in the hospital. Now it's more of a treat at 2 months post op.

I had my surgery about a month ago. It has been difficult. I never had pain due to surgery but pain from eating. I don't seem to get a signal of when I am full. It doesn't take much and when I eat that next spoonful it goes over and then the pain begins. We are talking about 4 teaspoons. I make Protein the priority - don't want to lose my hair. So I eat plain greek yogurt with no added sugars and Protein Drinks. I try Soups and have had some apple sauce. It is very liquidy then it is sort of ok - though even then I can drink too much. Apple sauce (the kind without added sugar) tastes good but really I can only have 2 teaspoons before it will start to hurt. So I pretty much measure ahead of time based on the experience I have had so far, what I can eat before it hurts. I stop before then and wait. I wish I knew what feeling full felt like. The one thing I am happy about is that I don't get ravenous. I think I feel hungry but not that ravenous feeling I used to get when I would try to diet.
I did have a few things that would be considered poor choices - grape juice, potato chip (yep just one) and a few others thing but I could only get so little. I panic and then focus on why I went through this in the first place and try to move on. This is very hard. Not so much eating healthy - just eating period. It takes just one bite to make the difference between being done and pain for the next couple of hours. I hope this doesn't last and I figure out when I am full without pain being associated. Yes, I have seen the Dr and they agree I need to measure ahead of time. Unfortunately, the measurement changes with the food type. I guess it is a brain thing that I will figure out.
Oh and the exercise thing - way too tired. I did walk for about 2 hours last weekend. I took breaks in between. Still when I finished, I slept for 4 hours and was wasted for 2 days. Today, I walked about a mile - slept for 2 hours and am still exhausted. Hope this goes away soon too.
How was it for everyone else 1 month out?

I'm on the Celebrate ADEK had the duodenal switch. I gag on those chewables. I've been supplementing with One a Day 60+ I can go on the capsule except I need to order it online as the hospital pharmacy doesn't carry the capsules.

I haven't heard of the vitamin patches. Sounds like an ideal option for Vitamins.< br>

How big of a "bite" are you taking? My doc's office gave us all a super tiny baby spoon to use after surgery. Our instructions were to take a bite and then wait a bit. Basically should have taken us about 20-30 minutes to eat a food during the pureed stage.
It also drives me nuts that doctors are all so different. Lot of us couldn't hit the pureed stage until at least 2 weeks out.

I'm currenty on full lliquids and Cream of Wheat (original flavor only) is allowed. I make it with soy milk (10 proteins) and sweetener. Last night I found a Cream of Wheat with high protein(6)/high fiber(4). 1 pack will last me about 3 times. This has helped me SO much. I chew it even though I really don't need to but it just gives me the feeling that I'm actually eating something.
I LOVE potatos and since every other commercial on TV seems to have mashed potatos I have come up with a cure for my craving for potatos... I get the Campbels Cream of Potato Soup and mix it with my high Protein soy milk (plain flavor). Then use the emersion blender, so there's absolutly no chunks. It's sooo yummy.
For my pizza craving I make Tomato soup... I know that's a stretch but it's been working for me.
Now these are not that high in Protein so I make sure I get all/most of that it before I have any of these
Now if I could find something to cure my cheese cravings, haha.
