  1. Hi all I'm Kristen, if you're in the Insta wls community you may know me as @survive.sleeve.slay myself and @emilyamvsg cohost a podcast called Mom's Spaghetti.

We don't just talk about weight loss surgery, but really about weight struggles and successes and failures in general. We do approach the topics with a humorous perspective, because it's who we are.

I am a little over a year out from vsg, Emily is 6.5 years out, so we are in very different places in the surgery timeline.

I wanted to invite you all to listen, we're going on Instagram live 3/24/19 at 7 central, stop in and say hi, let us know what you think and give us suggestions on topics you want us to cover.

    Hope to see you there!

    Kristen

  2. This sucks a whole bunch. But this is only post-op day 2 for me, so I expect it'll get better. I'm sleeping a lot, I can walk the dog without problems (as long as I'm creative about getting the leash on her), and I think a lot of my gas came out this morning, though I'm beginning to get the left shoulder soreness. The doc warned that the largest incision would hurt the most because of the deep-muscle stitch he had to do, and he is correct; I'm doing some interesting maneuvers to get in and out of bed without clenching abdominal muscles on that side. I'm surprised at how generally nauseous I am.
I'm on Tylenol, no other meds, just Vitamins. I may call the doc's office today about getting something for the nausea.

I have the shoulder pain too. Although I've only had two bouts of nausea so far.

  3. This pre op diet is a challenge. I mean. I haven't had any carbs intentionally in 9 days, but I haven't followed it exactly. I have eaten more Protein and veggies than I'm supposed to but I've also been sick for almost all of it and it's been miserable. I want all the carbs. In 9 days I've lost 8 pounds. I can relate when you say it doesn't seem real. Like I have been having so much trouble believing this is actually going to happen. So while I'm disappointed that I haven't been super strictly following 100 percent, I'm trying to remember I have cut out all refined carbs, sugars and caffeine. That's a lot!

  4. I started in July also. My paperwork was submitted on Thursday, but I have a surgery date on April 5th. I just hope I get approved. My willpower is dwindling. Struggling to stay on track right now. I share your anxiety.

Hang in there! I'm getting my surgery March 5th. I know it seems like it's a million miles away, but you'll be doing a pre-op diet before you know it!

  5. HELLO GIRLIE,
So I am definitely a newbie here. My insurance requires a 12 week program prior to scheduling a surgery. So my classes start at the end of February so i am definitely trying to get this done and trying to get some type of support group going. I come to all these forums to get info and some real answers. I am nervous because I'm pretty young and don't have any children. I do want this to effect my children and I have never had surgery in my life but i am definitely look forward to it and side bar I am not telling anyone but my boyfriend since we live together I have no choice .

Don't be nervous, this is a positive change. Surgery is scary but it is literally over before you know it! You wake up like huh?
