What brand do you recommend for Vaniila Powder Protien?
Personally, I like Jay Robb protein powder for the vanilla. It’s the only one that doesn’t have that nasty aftertaste.

Who didn’t/doesn’t have to do 2 weeks liquid?

2 week liquid preop diet
That's the same problem I'm having. I thought the insurance would be determined by my initial weight of 241. Surgeon told me to lose some weight but not too much. I'm also not allowed to gain. My second weigh in of 238 brought my BMI to 39.6. The nurse said congrats on the weight loss. But when I got home their insurance specialist called and said to keep my BMI at 40. That is indeed a pretty tight rope to walk!

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
Frustr8: Thanks for the good wishes! His is in May and mine is August. I was hoping it would be sooner so I would he slimmer for the summer heat but it’s not turning out that way. It will be nice to be able to keep up with our grandkids. They know grandma can’t keep up and that’s no fun.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
My daughter knows and my stepsons know because my hubby is doing it too. My mom knows I'm considering it but I haven't told her I'm doing it. She'll be worried but supportive as will my sons. I might let my sister know (my mom would blab anyway) but I don't think I'll tell anyone else. My brothers are athletes and are of the just eat less and move more attitude. Other than that it's nobody else's business. I've lost and gained weight so many times it won't be a big shock anyway.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
I’ve got an August surgery date. I started with my initial appointment with the surgeon in March. I’ve done my appt with the nutritionist already. I had an endoscopy in December so I’m not going to have to go through that again. My primary has also sent his letter of support I’m expecting a packet with the information regarding other required appointments. Hubby’s surgery is next month so I’ll get an idea of what I’m in for beforehand.

I have a surgery date!
That’s what I told my husband! Coins in my pockets, ankle weights, heavy shoes... Holy kwap, I can’t hold my weight steady til August and I’m not supposed to go over my initial weight either! I’ve been trying to not keep junk food around as my husband is in the final stretch for his May surgery date. I guess I’ll just eat healthy in bigger portions and deal with the weigh ins each month as they come. [emoji849]

I have a surgery date!
The surgeons office called today and they’ve scheduled me for August 13th. But ... she said my weight was down and they want me to stay at 240. Last weigh in was 238 and I’ve since lost 3 more lbs. I have to get it back to 240 and hold it there for my weigh ins. She said the insurance companies are weird about comorbidities and they need me to keep my BMI at 40. WTH!

Favorite protein shake?!
Vanilla Premiere Protein with 1 tbsp. of PB Fit and a drop of banana extract. I can't take the taste of any of them plain. The aftertaste is just nasty. My husband likes the chocolate. I'll have to try the PB fit in that too and see how that tastes.

My BMI is just 40
My beginning BMI is 40. My surgeon told me not to gain any weight but not to lose too much or I won’t be approved. I do have comorbidities so I need to find out how much I can safely lose and still be approved. I thought the more weight I can get off before surgery the easier it would be for me as well as the surgeon. However, I don’t want it to backfire on me.

Couples WLS?
Well I had my consult today. It looks like my WLS will be about 4 months after my husband. At least I'll know what I'm in for! My insurance requires a six month monitored diet. I don't have to lose weight but shouldn't gain any either. The surgeon said not to lose too much in that time or the insurance company could refuse to pay for my surgery. I guess I just thought approval would be based on my initial weigh in and the less I weigh at the time of surgery the better.

Couples WLS?
Well, I’ve scheduled a consult for myself for March 8th. I imagine I’ll be at least a month or so behind my husband depending on my requirements. We have different insurance plans so we will see how it all plays out. We are using the same bariatric practice but as of now, we’ve been assigned different surgeons. Ideally, I would like our WLS to be only a week or so apart but I’ll have to see what they say at the practice.

How Come We Never Look Like We Think We Look (Especially in Photos)???
I'm always surprised when I catch a reflection of myself in a window somewhere. OK, not surprised...horrified, lol. I checked the mirror at home before I left the house. Who the heck is that?

Couples WLS?
That’s an awesome result! Were you required by your insurance or surgeon to lose weight before the surgery or were you dieting on your own?

Couples WLS?
Thanks all. I think it’s good that we would be having it done separately. Our kids are grown and we live alone so we need to take care of each other. I do want us to be on the same page at approximately the same time as far as diet goes. So, having the surgery done apart but not too far apart.
