So I finished up my last nutrition class on the 13th. It’s been 6 looong months I’m just glad I got through it all. All of my paperwork was sent over to insurance for approval last Friday the 16th and I was approved and was given a surgery date the following Thursday which was the 22nd. I’m so surprised at how fast the approval process went. I was told it could take up to 30 days and I definitely thought insurance would take their sweet time sending in their decision. My date of surgery is April 17th! SOOOO happy/excited/nervous! I’ve joined a few support groups and hearing so many negative things is really messing with me now. I just hope I’m making the right decision.

So I just had my last nutrition class today..YAY! I was told I would receive a call by the end of the week to schedule my pre op appointments. I have already had appointments with the psych, nutritionist, exercise class, endoscopy and blood work. Wondering What else is required pre op?

Thanks so much girl. Which hospital did you go to if you don’t mind me asking. I’ll be going to Yale. I’m excited to start this new life but still very nervous. For your approval does the surgeons office call you with the approval? And did you get your surgery date over The phone as well or were you at an office visit?

I’m currently 4 months into my 6 month process for vsg. Started my nutrition classes in Oct, met with nutritionist one on one, went for my psych appointment, also was required to go to an exercise class as well as testing to make sure I didn’t have a hiatal hernia. Just like to hear about everyone’s process leading up to surgery. How long of a wait til approval and surgery date? Or how about any pre op diets? Not sure if or for how long before surgery I’d be required to be on liquids.

Hi Jazz! I’m with you. Currently going through the process myself. I’m on month 4 and it’s definitely a process! My surgeon told me it would fly by and I must admit it did go pretty fast..can’t believe I’m 4 months in already. So glad I found this support group I still have so many questions one day I’m excited the next I’m nervous. Girl I’m a mess lol

I don’t have your insurance but on mine I was told by my nutritionist that all the insurance wants to see is that you are below the weight you were from your first weigh in even if it’s a lb lol. Good luck I’m sure you’ll be fine!
