  1. Peekaboo! Popping in for a year-end update.

I've lost juuuuuust over 100 pounds in 2018 (including pre-op), but I've been stalled in about a 10-pound range for almost three months now. I'm the first to admit I've slacked in sticking to my program's rules; I really need to get back on track with my eating and actually start exercising (the gym membership was short-lived because the expense wasn't worth it on my budget).

Hoping to jump-start the downward trend again now that the holidays are over. I see my PCP in 2.5 weeks and my surgeon a month after that (at which time I will be a year out, holy crap) so I'd really like to be out of the stall by then.

OH also, while I was visiting a friend in Tulsa for Labor Day weekend, I got my first tattoo to celebrate (albeit a tiiiiny bit early) hitting the 100 pounds down mark.

  2. I have reached a new level of ridiculous, even for me. This morning I downloaded an app to help me track my bowel movements to make sure I'm not at risk of constipation/an obstruction. It will alert me if I haven't gone #2 in 36 hours.

    1. istytehcrawk

      istytehcrawk

I'd been tracking it a very simple way -- by circling the date on my calendar -- but the app gives me more flexibility for unusual "events" so to speak.

  3. Ughhhhh. Worst case of foamies/slimes I've had yet. It's been going on for nearly two hours now, and I'm not sure why. I ate the same thing for supper that I ate for lunch (half a piece of Mediterranean chicken from Denny's), and it sat FINE after lunch.

Ugh, make that nearly four hours, but I think it's over now.

  4. Had surgery yesterday and everything went well. Still spacey from anesthesia, so will update tomorrow.

No, I didn't eat the tomato soup (they brought it to me, I just never got around to eating it). I lived on apple juice and water at the hospital, ha. I tried the cream of wheat or rice or whatever it was, but it was NASTY, even with sweetener added.

You're more ambitious than me! I didn't even attempt posting (anywhere, not just here) until after I was out of the hospital.

  6. Less than 24 hours until my WLS! I'm excited, but I need to focus long enough to pack a bag LOL

  7. Three minor disappointments today:

    • My favorite shirt is officially too big to wear, because it sits awkwardly on my shoulders and doesn't stay put.
    • My good-occasion bra is ALSO too big in the cups. Like, to a startling degree, considering my other bras still fit fine.
    • For the first time since surgery, I've gained a pound, though I *think* that's due to digestive delays.
    1. istytehcrawk

      istytehcrawk

I usually weigh three times a week -- Saturday or Sunday, then Wednesday for the weigh-in here, and Thursday because that's when my surgery was so I can track week-to-week from that.

  8. I had a setback yesterday. I went to the ER in severe stomach pain and nausea. It turns out that I had a stricture so the ER stabilized me and then I was transported to Wilmington Hospital, where I had the surgery to begin with. They did some emergent repairs. I am doing okay but in too much pain to get around. Anyhow, the surgeon emphasized rest and not getting up and moving. I will be discharged on Friday morning as they want to keep me for observation. Life happens but we keep moving, right-o?

  9. Why isn't there a way to block people on this site? I'm sick of scaremongering and would rather not see it.

AH! Thank you! I hadn't seen that option because I rarely hover over someone's username. They need to make that option available on the person's profile page or directly on the posts they make, but at least it exists!

  10. 10 weeks out from surgery, and I just ate popcorn (Smartfood white cheddar, 3/4 cup) for the first time since surgery. It was SO GOOD; now I just have to see if it sits well. So far, so good.

Have been gradually working on trying new things; so far, nothing has given me even semi-major issues, but taco seasoning still doesn't sit well in my stomach.

My program moves faster than most - one day clear liquids, one week full liquids, two weeks puree, and two weeks soft, then no restrictions (other than those your body creates) at five weeks.

      You'll get there!

  11. When I got dressed this morning, I realized I was wrong about the size of the jeans I got at Walmart the other day. They're not 26/28s; they're 24/26s! Which is even better, but also ridiculous because a pair of size 26 pants from the same brand were too small. The jeans have stretch, though, and the pants did not.

    1. istytehcrawk

      istytehcrawk

I did see some 26s in this Terra & Sky brand, but I didn't see any 28s at mine (Litchfield, though I also go to Carlinville since that's where I work). Of course, I was only looking at the one rack of actual pants, not the several with capris. I know the 24/26s are considered a 3X.

  12. Tonight's experiment: wonton wrapper lasagna (made with ground turkey and a Greek yogurt cream cheese/mozzarella/cheddar/spices mix instead of ricotta, which I don't like) and tacos (made with taco meat pilfered from my sister's supper). In the oven now!

The recipe I based it on is in the first comment on this thread, though I just used some leftover sauce I had frozen about a month ago and made my own concoction for the cheese layer instead of ricotta. For that, I used half a block of Greek yogurt cream cheese, a third of a cup of shredded mozzarella and a third of a cup of cheddar, plus a heavy dose of garlic powder and some Italian seasonings. That was enough to make 9 cups, in this order: wonton, spoonful of cheese mixture, spoonful of sauce, wonton, spoonful of sauce, sprinkle of mozzarella. Baked them for 13 minutes. Her recipe uses a second layer of the cheese mixture, but mine does not (though if I make them again, I might include it).

  16. My jeans were literally starting to fall off me, so I caved today and bought a pair of 26/28s to hold me over until capri weather hits, hopefully in the next few weeks.

The important part, though, is that I bought them at WALMART! I haven't been able to buy pants there in YEARS because they didn't go to my size. Unfortunately, I still had to pay $17 (so much better than the $60ish at Catherine's though), because the 26s that were on clearance for $9 were still too small to be comfortable. SOON, though!

Never been a fan of dresses, no. That may change as I shrink, but I doubt it.

I probably would've held off with buying them, but mine were so baggy they looked awful, and I'm a reporter so I have to look at least semi-presentable and the 28s just didn't fit that bill anymore -- after only about a month!

The wonton wrappers are 31 carbs (1 fiber and 1 sugar) for eight wrappers; each lasagna/taco uses two wrappers. At my one-month follow-up, my surgeon said just to worry about protein/liquids, not the other macros, and she said to work toward 1,000-1,200 calories per day, but that it'd take a while to get there (I'm averaging 500-700 per day currently, with at least 60 carbs).

  24. Went to the store tonight and stocked up on some items that will help me make healthy meals, so I'll actually make new things instead of relying on the old stand-bys that are getting repetitive.

    I got:

    • bag of chopped broccoli/cauliflower (currently roasting in the oven with some baby carrots)
    • two Roma tomatoes
    • Laughing Cow light Swiss
    • wonton wrappers
    • turkey pepperoni
    • 90% lean ground beef
    • Greek yogurt cream cheese
    • mozzarella cheese sticks (like string cheese, not the breaded kind)
    • Canadian bacon
    • regular bacon
    • a squeeze bottle of ginger
    • skim milk
    • EVOO
    • pizza sauce
    • a bag of clementines
    • small cans of tomato sauce and diced tomatoes
    • a can of chickpeas (to try @AshAsh1's roasted chickpeas -- I've never had chickpeas, only hummus)
    • pineapple tidbits in juice

The ham, pizza sauce, pineapple, and some shredded mozzarella we already had are in the oven with the veggies, becoming crustless Hawaiian pizzas based on this recipe: https://www.ellaclaireinspired.com/no-crust-pizza-bites/

I also plan on making these mini cheeseburger meatloaf muffins, though not tonight: http://www.hungry-girl.com/ask-hg-q-and-a/seven-healthy-protein-packed-recipes
