  1. Welcome Audrey- yes we're all here to give you love and support. We are on a journey towards better health, as you probably see from my previous post I'm old enough to be your grandmother or worse but honey I'm in it to win it just like all the rest. There are a lot of "veterans" that are still active on Bariatric Pal, they've been there and are a great source of practical experience and information. So if you have any questions, just ask, okay? 2. WLS4ME33 and the rest: I've got great news, finished all my pre requirements, called my Bariatric Facilitator Amber today, she emailed the surgeon's office, haven't heard back but with as far out as they schedule Early to Mid -March for my RnY. Why RnY? I have definite GERD, a BMI of 45, sleep apnea and I'm 72(yeah you read that right!) but want to have a healthy improvement to the quality of my life. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired, have fought the weight wars and the weight always won. Now is my chance and I'm gonna take it. Join me on this journey friends. 3. You will be fine, all the post Rnyers have told me it wasn't as bad as the dreading they did before. I'm still pre surg myself but that's what I'll be having probably within the next 6 weeks. Just finished my pre requirement yesterday, let my Bariatric Facilitator know, isn't that a fancy term? and she told me to expect a call-back from the surgeon's office to let me know scheduling for pre op blood work etc. I live nearly 50 miles away from the hospital so will have to do everything in 1 day. My local hospital just recently started doing limited Bariatric but they don't do anyone with a BMI over 40 or RnY so I have to go to Columbus, our state capital. Don't be scared, it's the Gold Standard of Bariatric surgery, performed often and a lot safer than many other major surgeries. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. It will be okay Nancy I meant you for the last post instead of Jaz, I'm a little dyslexic when it comes to texting and I'm getting sleepy but I do believe you'll get your surgery. Get some rest. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. @jazmaniaRnY I'm going to say prayers that you'll be okay, worse case scenario it's good you found out now instead of while you were on the table, but like the others said it may still be okay and your surgery won't be off. Try to get some rest (the momma in me surfacing) and tomorrow will dawn a better day. You haven't come this far without a good reason and your day may still be coming. Sending my love, child. 6. Great hearing you're okay- today starts the road to health, weight loss and other good things. Keep us updated, and heal well my friend. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. Since you're allergic to adhesives (i am too) they may staple or suture you instead, that's what they did with my knees, staples on my right one in 2014 and sutures on my left in February 2016. As long as your surgeon knows I'm sure you'll be okay. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. Just go with yellow or green , that way any staining won't make it look like bleeding, besides lime and, lemon are my favorite flavors. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. Seahawks Fan I hope everything went well and you're safe back in your room. All of us are sending wishes of healing and recovery from your surgery, please keep us updated. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. Congrats now walk that gas off, each day is gonna be better and better, hope to join you on the RnY victory bench within a few months. Gonna hear a date from my surgeon's office soon cause all my requirements are finally finally done. Glory hallelujah! Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. Wow I'm glad I don't have BCBS, in my area it's Anthem BCBS but from all the sorrow it's giving people I am glad I have something else. Reminds me of the old joke about life insurance-you are betting you need it, the insurance carrier is betting you don't, if you win the argument you're dead and can't enjoy your victory. 12. Fluffy Chix et all: Just finished my last pre requirement yesterday, just got off the phone with my Nurse Facilitator, updated her, she faxed the surgeon's office and when I hear back from them I should have a date. I'm thinking Early to Mid March, would God it was sooner! I can hardly believe it's finally gonna happen. Send prayers, good wishes, light candles, whatever it takes. On my way to sleek puma from fat puddycat, my friends. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. Mount Carmel West in Columbus with Dr Marcus Miller, he's their Bariatric Director so their Top Dog. Glad it's him, I'm a non traditional aged patient but he's still willing to do it, and yes it's a Center of Excellence rating also., I'm gonna only,do,this once so it had better be good and yes I'm also RnY I have pretty strong GERD and it is the Gold Standard surgery. Keep me updated on your journey, ok? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. Central Ohio but I'm still wishing you only good things in the future. Where are you having your surgery done? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

  16. Miss LindseyR you're the first pole dancer I've ever met, guess in the heart of Ohio I've lived a sheltered life, but sounds like a great funky exercise. Go for it [emoji66] Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. Love your name Gassy Gurl; I'm gassy already pre surg bet people will give me a wide berth afterwards! Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. Found out today from the sleep medicine doctor my score was 23, since it often runs in families my son The TomKitten will probably need checked, snores, has an 18 inch neck, falls asleep easy but is very restless. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Hmm Washington's birthday bet you won't feel like chopping cherry trees down for a few days, but still a good day to start a new way of life. Life ain't about holding all the good cards; it's about playing the bad hand well. "The Ole Gambler" Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. Did you have a sleeve or RnY? Could you a still have some gastritis in the stomach you have left? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. Congratulations on getting things scheduled guys sounds like February is going to be an important month in all your lives. Keep us all updated! Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. Great to hear about that weight loss, hopeful I'll do that good. Only other people I've seen were Coshocton and New Philadelphia and they were a year or so back so probably no longer active. Keep me updated and watch for me, saw my Sleep Lab doctor today for assessment of my C-pap status, that should finish my clearances unless they throw in an additional Nutrition consult. I had started out once before, had most of my prerequirements done, my job terminated and I lost insurance coverage. I had gone through all the nutrition consulting then and I'm hopeful I don't have to attend another. I'll call my Bariatric Coordinated in the morning and make sure. I can almost see the lights in the distance ahead. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. I think he's cute- when I had my gall bladder out in the bad old days when surgeries were open I had a chicken pillow. Why did I need one, instead of a subcostal which was more or less traditional I had a right paramedian which meant I had an incision to "splint" when I coughed. Boy Chickie was my best buddy for awhile, think he's upstairs in the toy chest, wonder if he wants to go to Columbus on my Bariatric journey? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. I am still pre surg at this point, it seems after my RnY I will save money by no fast foods, colas and sodas are large portions groceries and foods, will it be enough to offset the costs of vitamins, fresher and healthier foods, protein drinks etc? What have you veterans found, doesn't matter in the long run, I'm still going forward with my surgery plans but maybe I'll need to,plant a garden this spring? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. How has the last month been for you, are you feeling pretty good and how much have you lost? I'm very anxious to,make it to the losers bench and start a new healthy better life. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
