HOLIDAY CHALLENGE TIME!! LET'S DO THIS!

WHAT would this one be? On the Scene and Still Green Weigh-off? Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Mrs Ganges our Bari Friend in Red Deer, Alberta's mother came up with this term. It stands for Poor Little Old Me. Let's see if we can get rid of some of this syndrome and its effect Have you hit a stall in your weight loss journey ? Maybe you're not as light in weight as you planned? Well you're also not as heavy as you once were. Stalls have a way of smoothing out, just takes time. Are you still presurgery and it seems like it's taking forever to get requirements done? Well each one has its purpose in preparing you for surgery. The better you are prepared the smoother your surgery will go You look outside and everything looks gray and dismal? Well that only works if you are in the Northern Hemisphere like me. If you are in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa or even the Middle East that excuse won't work. If the weather is nasty outside walk inside, if you're tired of being housebound go to the mall to do your walking. And hard as it might seem, think of one good thing today. You haven't lost enough weight? Well you're not as heavy as you once were. Nobody cares for you? Then step up and care about you. Your family is getting on your nerves? Go give them a hug anyway, kids grow up so soon, the other adult in your life might need a hug too. Even pet your cat or dog and believe the love you pass out will return to you. And it will. You've recently had your surgery, You feel meh. It will pass, the tummy will get less tender, your diet will smooth out once you get through the different levels, remember you are healing inside and out. Be greatful for the chance to get healthier, to get thinner, to get more fit. You've. taken charge of your life now. And guess who the ultimate winner is? April/May 2018 Sleevers!!?

Welcome barbieater- if my conversion kg/lb is correct you and I have about the same goal but I'm starting, out taller and heavier. Maybe 146 kg, it doesn't sound too much better in kg and 172 cm. I am 72 years old, yes above traditional age, I will have a RnY early-mid March at Mount Carmel Hospital in Columbus Ohio. I'm in it to win it, want to spend my remaining years thinner and healthier, Scared, no not a bit, more worried since I've left it so late in my life, will I heal as well? Ah but I'm still committed to making it a success. Watching the Olympics out of the corner of my eye, Chinese ski jumper just did a somersault. Instead of landing upright. Seems not to be hurt. At any rate update us on your weight loss journey as it happens. Your American bariatric friend. ME Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

And each of them are precious and have a story to tell on Bariatric Pal. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

    Is this a PLOM ?

I send balloons to heaven every year on his Angel Day, it was January 11th 10 years ago. Your parents would be so proud of you, you know a portion of them lives on in you. I believe in Heaven and I feel they are watching and smiling at how healthy and strong you have become. Keep on racing in their honor, it's a beautiful memorialization. Any February Sleevers?

Geesh I sure hope not, I get this horrible thought of them standing me up and scrubbing me down with a wire brush or a curry comb. Makes me tingle to think of it, and not in a good way Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

    Any February Sleevers?

Do you want a theory or in my case a testimony? I am allergic to Hibiclens, the red liquid in the aqua bottle they give you to scrub with before surgery. Found that out before my last knee surgery, when my whole left leg looked like it was sunburned. When I have my Rny I don't know how they'll prep me, Maybe paint me with Betadine or something else. Oh Dr Miller's a smart dude, I'm sure he'll figure it all out. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

    Is this a PLOM ?

Jenn'l may I share something with you? Hope I'm not a Debbie Downer to interject this. My 2nd born and older son died at 31 of a undiagnosed heart condition. He and I both worked in retail, I returned after a short bereavement leave because that would have been the way he would have wanted it. A fairly short time later a woman came into my work area dragging her son by one arm. Same first name as my son, she stated in a very nasty tone of voice "******, it's a nasty name and only nasty people have that name. You are lucky you don't have a son with that name!" I looked at her with tears starting to come into my eyes and said. quietly" I once had a son with exactly that name, he is now dead and I would give every breath in my body just to. have him back again" ---so yes a cancer patient might wish for only the struggle of weight loss as they face the spectre of their own mortality. Life is too short and too precious to waste even a minute of it. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

    The first poo

My advice: Scrub that colon clean. That's what I'm planning to do after you suggested it a while back. I'd want my bowels as tidy as possible because with an RnY they Will be monkeying with them more. And #2 (maybe TMI) in my case I have both a cystocele and a rectocele, don't want anything, caught in a pocket and fossilizing down there. So the cleaner and happier bowel for me. Swoosh! 6 months post vsg progress

Stacey you are very correct. Fluffy Chix pointed something, out in one of her posts about fat cells in our bodies. Let's think of them as little zip lock bags, as the fat drains out they fill up with Water before they flatten out, they never totally go away. That's why we have to be vigilant, former fat people always run the risk of puffing up again. The body always seeks homeostasis, we have to convince it the lower weight level is where to be, I think Dr Weiner calls it a set point, I think of it as a new point on my bodily thermostat. So those zip lock baggies of water are what causes our stalls, we just got to wait for them to drain down, keep our diet level smooth and our exercise quotient active. And tada that pesky stall is over. Got it now! Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

  18. Congratulations Abe! Whether it turns out to be a Abe Jr or an Abra it will be a lucky baby to have you for its daddy. I know you WILL give the same commitment to fatherhood that you have given to your weight loss journey. Baby will be getting a healthier, fitter and more fun to be around Daddy. Depression and feelings of giving up

A old saying: All God's children got sorrows. Not a one of us is immune. I especially appreciate KMO2961 and her advice above. Many of you are down because you've hit a stall in your weight loss. I'm fighting the depression bug today because I'm fearful I'll never get my surgery. So I almost envy your stalls, I feel like I'm in limbo or purgatory myself today. So I'm claiming the promise that I'm good enough and that my day will come. I have the will, I have the commitment to succeed, I just need my surgeon to honor that and perform my surgery. Maybe by this time next week I'll have good news. I'm reminded of a lesser Bible passage where the people asked Jesus "are you he whom we seek or shall we look for another?". Is this the proper program for me , the proper surgeon or should I seek another? The sands of time are still descending in my hourglass and I know not when they will reach the bottom. Thanks for listening. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

Depression and feelings of giving up

Many of us had the same feelings as new mothers, it's part. surgical trauma, part Water and gas still retained, 3rd part is your fatty tissue starting to begin its brealdown to provide energy, for, your healing body. There were fat-soluble hormones, that were stored in your fat, now they are flooding your system. Like Puberty without any of the blessings. I had to hope to go to elsewhere like to Lalaland before before anyone noticed.any of my problems. Have a peaceful might. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app

So what province are you in? We have Mrs Gamgee in Red Deer Alberta and Lesliesbari living somewhere in the mountains of British Columbia, her surgery must be in Vancouver or Victoria because she talked about how long a flight it was to get there. I've been to Niagara Falls, Leamington,Kingsville, Point Pelee & Pelee Island, Ontario and BC for the Centennial of Confederation. So I know a skosh about some Canadian locations. At any rate Good Luck or if you're in P.Q. Bonne Chance on your future surgery. I'm in Central Ohio, 14 miles from our state's Geographical Center. Hope to hear more of your WLS journey. How best to show support.

Don't constantly eat foods in front of her you know she can't share. Smacks of rubbing it in her face. Listen to her when she vents cause she might boil over at times. Be gentle with her moods, she will like being reassured that you are proud of her, Be supportive of her in public and to your friends. I'm telling you these things because my late husband would not have done these things for me. Let your wife feel loved and treasured. Even if she doesn't say thank you,out loud , she will in her heart. Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
