    Just don't care

Please tell your doctor immediately. From what I’ve read, there is an increase in suicide risk following this surgery. If you are affected by severe depression right now, it could be life threatening, and it is not your fault. Please make an appointment with your doctor today! Surgery Date: January 8, 2018 Sleeve Gastrectomy

    Any January 2018 Sleevers?

Hi, all- I am one week out today from my sleeve last week and just want to send my support to everyone who is still waiting. I am feeling terrific today- really good. The first few days were hard (I had lots of nausea) but quickly got much much better. I was pretty terrified of this surgery before I had it, but now I am already grateful. Down 24 pounds since preop diet, which I think is pretty great! Also just feeling content with the decision now that it’s done- I keep feeling surprised that I still feel like myself- I don’t know what I thought was going to happen, but I’m so relieved that I feel pretty normal by this point, and the only difference is being a tiny bit sore and having to take a half an hour to eat a Greek yogurt Getting all liquids and protein in, and feeling so much better. Just wanted to send reassurance to any people who like me were absolutely scared out of their minds. All will be well! Surgery Date: January 8, 2018 Sleeve Gastrectomy
  3. I absolutely love this. “Pursuing aliveness with all of our primal might.” Fantastic- I am going to borrow this if you don’t mind. I am 1 week postop, and was very afraid to get this surgery. So far I am shocked to feel like the same me. All is well. Thank you so much for such wonderful inspiration today! Surgery Date: January 8, 2018 Sleeve Gastrectomy

    Any January 2018 Sleevers?

Thanks for checking in, and so glad you are doing alright! Our surgery stories sound very similar- I too had an awful time with nausea and vomiting- just not pleasant with a brand new stapled stomach I was on 3 anti-nausea medications to try to get it under control, and still have a nausea patch on now that I am at home. Pain has really receded and I only take Tylenol occasionally for pain. I have terrible back pains and don’t know why- I wonder if they really move us around a lot while we’re under for the surgery? Lots of ice packs and rest. Incisions have been good until my sweet daughter bumped the big one accidentally yesterday- ouch! Overall it was tough but I am so glad it’s over. No way to second guess anything now- time for a new life! I am really going to try today to get my protein in for the first time, as it’s been hard to get everything down. Yesterday I finally got all of my liquids down, so today my focus is protein. Sending all of you big hugs and best wishes for your recovery. Did I miss the Facebook group posting? I’ve tried to go back and look to see if someone posted it but couldn’t find it. If it can’t be secret I think I will just create a new Facebook profile with a different name only for my VSG journey- who wants to join me? Surgery Date: January 8, 2018 Sleeve Gastrectomy
  5. Hi, all- had my sleeve done on Monday and am still in the hospital. Everything has been going pretty well except nausea- I have been throwing up a lot (mostly dry heaves) so they will be keeping me for a little longer just to make sure I’ll be able to get to enough fluids in when I get home. My question is whether anyone of you were throwing up 2 days after surgery like this, and I whether it stopped for you after the narcotics wear off? I am really hoping it’s just a reaction to the meds, but worried that I might be an unlucky one who is just going to have a lot of long term nausea along with the sleeve? Thanks in advance! Hope all my surgery buddies from the 8th are doing well! Surgery Date: January 8, 2018 Sleeve Gastrectomy

    Any January 2018 Sleevers?

Hi, all- getting sleeved Monday and couldn’t be more nervous. I keep thinking that I seriously can’t believe I’m going to walk into a hospital and voluntarily get most of my stomach taken out. I have worked for almost a year to get to the point when my surgery could be scheduled, and I’ve done all my research and really believe in what this surgery can do. It’s just now that it’s actually time I’m completely scared. I have two small kids, which makes it scarier for me. Anyone else feel this way? Surgery Date: January 8, 2018 Sleeve Gastrectomy

    Any January 2018 Sleevers?

Preop is going OK so far- was a little hard as we were traveling for the holidays, but hopefully will get easier now that we are back home. I’m on mostly liquids (protein shakes/soup) with also some yogurt and sf pudding/jello- also raw veggies if I am still hungry (which I am). I also noticed that the first two days were really hard- I had a terrible headache, but the third day felt much better. Must have been withdraw from carbs/sugar/caffeine. A bonus is that I’ve lost 7 pounds in 4 Days- woohoo! Kind of surreal to think this is actually happening after so many months of waiting. Hope you are all doing OK on your preop diets!
