  1. I think part of pre-op dieting is getting it in your head that food is NOT something that you need to turn to all the time. It hit me during my liquid only pre-op. I see people on here who cry at the thought of not eating like they previously had, but that’s kind of the point. I know I can eventually eat the things I love (I want tacos so fn bad right now) but I have to change my relationship with food first. Good luck! 😘

Yesterday was rough for me as well. Didn’t get any Fluid in, lots of gas pains and nausea/dry heaving. Today is better still having gas pain, but getting some fluids in. 7 oz so far since about 7:30. Getting to go home soon also.

That’s exactly how I was right after surgery. They tried to get me to eat a red popsicle and drink some red Powerade. I threw it up. Looked like blood and I freaked out! Funny now, wasn’t funny then! Glad you did well!

  3. I only had to do liquids for a week post-surgery, then I got to move to puréed food. Almost everything is hard to keep down. Puréed chicken salad, scrambled eggs - all came right back up. I did have a couple of Doritos that my nephew didn’t eat, but I mostly just sucked on them until they dissolved. Vienna sausages go down pretty well. A deviled egg. Lentil Soup. My mom made some crockpot beef veggie soup that I tolerated pretty good. I think it’s trial or error with me.

6 day stall after GAINING 3 lbs on day 7 post op. I posted before and people say this happens, but I’m still feeling super bummed. I’m exactly two weeks out and have lost only 7 lbs since surgery.

I’m about the same as you. Very disappointed. Going for my two week appointment tomorrow.

Sleeved on 12/29 - first day back to work today. Being in the office is very different than being home - my mind is totally occupied with food and I feel hungry here (was not really the case at home...possibly I'm not drinking enough liquids?). Doing great except I sometimes get an intense gripping pain when something hits my stomach after swallowing, especially anything not really a liquid (like Jello or yogurt). 2 tablespoons of ff plain greek yogurt also caused terrible diarrhea last night. Supposed to transition to try eggs and other soft solids later this week, yikes - I'm terrified of my stomach's reaction!

My stomach gargles likes crazy any time I have anything that’s not liquid!

  6. For one night:
Loose clothes to go home in.
Something to read (such as magazines, which you can just pick up and put down in between walking, sipping, sleeping, walking sipping)
    Gas-x strips
    Soap, toothpaste and toothbrush.
    Nightwear/underwear
I stayed 3 nights and 4 days and so in addition I took and found helpful:
    Kindle
    Face wipes
    Lip Balm
    Phone and charger
    Shampoo and body wash
    3 x nightwear
I spent most of the time in between the walking etc either in bed sleeping or watching tv/reading or being checked over by the health professionals, especially in the first day. My husband brought a pillow to put over my tummy so the seat belt didn't dig in for the drive home. Otherwise the hospital provided everything else I wanted.

Slippers are a must have. The non-skid kind. I was only in for one night. Chapstick was the most used item I brought!
