Personally, I didn't focus on the amount of weight I lost during the first few months and only focused on my diet. I wasn't perfect, but it was easier to get back on it post op because I didn't want to throw away the advantage I'd given myself by getting surgery in the first place. I knew that if I ate correctly, the weight would come off. As more time passed, I started watching the scale a little closer and realized that the reason I continue to lose weight is because I focused so hard at the beginning. I'm at 80% of my total weight loss goal in 10 months. Don't beat yourself up about a number, or if you've slipped up around the holidays, just take it a meal at a time and you'll be successful.

I'm 4.5 weeks post-op and down only 16 lbs from surgery date. I've had a remarkably easy recovery, I haven't had an ounce of nausea, and everything I've eaten so far has agreed fine with me, plus I'm able to eat more than the 2-4 tbsp they say at this stage... I can eat up to half a cup already, so I hear you. I feel like this is going to make it WAY too easy to fall off the wagon at some point, so I make sure I LOG everything I eat on myfitnesspal, and I don't snack. I eat my 3 meals and get my liquids in, which helps keep me at the 600 calorie goal right now. I almost wish I had more complications to keep me from splurging, but I'm overly grateful that I haven't had any complications at all!!!!! It just means we have to work a little harder to keep ourselves on track. 22 lbs is great, keep it up!!

I love that you are open to the loving slap upside the head from us. Makes me giggle inside.
You are not failing, You slipped ..Get back on the horse. (or your waggon) Beating yourself down is not productive. Start building yourself up. You will overcome this.
Much of this process is the mental side of wight loss. Just because my tummy can handle/tolerate anything doesn't mean it's the correct choice. Giving myself permission to eat bad choices/graze was something I had to work on.
Might want to try getting rid of the temptation foods in your home...Or ask family to hide them from you..lol Yes, I have to do this when my willpower is weak.

18 lbs in two weeks is a phenomenal rate of loss. Most of us lose 15-25 lbs in the entire first month. You are going to end up on the higher end of that range, if not over. You may be basing your expectations on what you see on shows like "My 600 lb Life". Yes, those people do drop a ton of weight the first month or two, but don't forget, they are starting out at 600+ lbs. For those of us more "normal" obese people, that much of a weight loss isn't at all common.. You will undoubtedly see a few of us who drop 30 lbs the first month, but they are outliers. Your weight loss is right on target - in fact, it's above average.

P.S. I *only* lost 16 lbs the first month (and that's in a month - not two weeks), and I lost over 200 lbs. Your commitment to your program is what makes the difference - not your rate of weight loss. But again, yours is absolutely fine.

Worry more about the bad habits and breaking those. The I only lost X amount of pounds in X amount of weeks is pointless. You cannot out exercise a terrible diet. Eat right and according to plan and you will lose weight. It’s just normally not as fast as we want to.

My mom paid for mine as well, I had to sign a contract with her, that if this fails, I have to pay it all back as well. But I feel the same way. Sleeved 12/14/17. I lost 15 lbs before surgery. But have only lost 18 lbs so far, I feel like I am failing as well. I have been walking on treadmill but only doing 75 kilometers. So I have picked it up and last night walked for 15 min and 230 kilometers.

22 pounds in SIX WEEKS is quite good ... about 1.6kg per week or 3.5 pounds per week ... well on the good half of the standard bell curve.
    Methinks you're over-worrying about nothing.
You're losing at a very acceptable rate.
Just discipline yourself to steer clear of C.R.A.P. (Calorie Rich And Processed foods!)
You owe it to yourself to follow your WL clinic's recommendations. (And you probably don't want to disrespect your parents' $$$$ outlay!)

@fruitandveggies we’ve got to cheer each other on for both our goals. Let’s do it!!!

    A new year. New goals.
2017 I maintained a active life. Now I am planning on the same plus biking my first century and upping my run from a 5 K in 26 minutes to a 10 k in - who knows? What about you? Inspire me with what you have achieved and where you will find wins in 2018.

Hello! I'm 2 months post-op and have been really successful so far, now it's time to up my activity level again. I had a FitBit Flex for a while, but it died recently. Any suggestions on what to get? I don't need a lot of bells and whistles. As long as it can keep track of my steps/mileage/calories burned I'm a happy girl.

First off hugs. I suffer from depression and anxiety so this journey has had a lot up and downs. My first thought would be a therapist. This is TRULY a hard thing to adjust to. Second... You will not regret this a year from now. Go through all your paperwork or even Pinterest for ideas.

I am 6 weeks po and I'm feeling very lost and depressed. Not many people know about my surgery so I feel very alone in my journey. I'm currently in a 3 week stall and I am realizing now after surgery that I really have a problem with food. Its been a challenge.
I do not regret my surgery, but I am afraid of failing and I feel like I am. I don't know how to get motivated to eat right and exercise. I don't know what or how to eat. I don't know how to get over my food addiction and "head hunger".
Has anyone here ever felt like this after surgery? Or maybe someone has some advice?

Okay first off take lots of deep breaths tomorrow you're going to be super nervous. That surgery is going to be over before you know it when you wake up you're going to feel like s*** but you're going to also get lots of pain meds so most of the pain you're going to be feeling is going to be from surgical gas there's really nothing you can do but walk so get up and walk and try to walk as often as you can when you're going through the first two nights I would say you're not going to feel well and during that time keep in the back of your mind that by the time you get to day 5 day 6 you feel pretty much normal again besides being a little sore

    Yes maybe no!!
I am not losing right now either, sleeved 10/24. Not consistently tracking either, but when I do track, my macros are okay - at least 60gr Protein and 64oz liquids, carbs 30-56gr average. It's a lot depressing which adds to my general seasonal depression which is not good at all. I am also bored with food in general. The scale isn't exactly stopped but one pound a week for the past three weeks is pathetic to me, and half a pound this week.

So today I was able to start the puree stage. I was sleeved 11/15. Basically since I was sleeve to my stomach is handling everything very well I have always eaten a little bit ahead of plan by about a week but I noticed that being 4 weeks out the weight loss has stopped and I think it's because I'm being too lenient with my eating. I haven't been logging or counting calories or anything like I'm supposed to. I have my log book out now and my journal and tomorrow I am going to start religiously writing down what I'm eating and tracking my carbs and my calories and my sugars. Is anybody else in the same boat where they feel like maybe they're not losing because they didn't stick to the plan correctly? I don't want to mess this up
