    Band Haters

Hi alley-gator. I have a band and my 23 year old daughter got the VSG on Feb. 8th this year. I had some different issues with the band but am on track with a new doctor and it seems to be working wonderfully now. My daughter loves the VSG. She is not lactose intolerant and loves it. She eats 4 sometimes 5 small mini meals a day and has lost 70 lbs since surgery. I wish I had the VSG and have been considering a revision. She feels great and has no problems. Good luck in what ever you decide.

    Hi Marylanders!

Hi everyone, Hope you have a safe and cool 4th of July. I just wanted to update you, I had a fill on June 28th. 1/2 cc. Since that day, I am down 8 lbs. I am so excited. Finally a downward movement. I go back in 3 month. We will decide on a fill then. Be safe.
  3. Hi, my name is Joyce and I got banded in August 2008. I did not use any doctor I saw listed here. Well while I was there for my first fill he informed me that he was no longer taking any insurance and it was cost me $250 for each fill. I didn't have that kind of money so I left mad. I would have never used him if I knew that! I yelled at him asking why he didn't let me know before surgery because I wouldn't have picked him and he didn't have an answer. I said " guess you wanted to extra money from my surgery" and I turned and walked away. Well I tried 2 other doctors and they couldn't fill it and told me that my port had turned. So I was so upset about everything that I just sat and did nothing. I didn't gain or lose weight, I just sat there feeling sorry for myself. Not wanting to go through another surgery, I didn't know what to do. My daughter saw Dr. Singh and he did a sleeve on her in Feb of this year so I asked him about a revision to a sleeve for me. He asked is he could try to fill my band because we should try everything before revisions and I said sure. Well he did!! I couldn't believe it. So since March 22nd I have lost 33 lbs. I go for another fill this week, on the 28th. Hopefully things are going to get better for me and I will start losing faster. At 57 and needing to lose over 200 lbs, I want faster weight loss than 2 lbs a week. Good grief, I will be dead before I lose all I need to. My band is still pretty open because I can still eat a whole chicken thigh and veggies and even some potatoes or pasta. I need to stay low carb but I haven't been totally faithful to it. So thats my story, thanks for listening. I hope to be visiting here quite often. Joyce

    Hi Marylanders!

Hi Maryland Bandsters, My name is Joyce and I was banded August 2008. I have a strange story - my doctor stopped taking insurance and told me during my 1st fill. I saw 2 other doctors and both told me they couldn't fill me because my port had turned. I was so upset that I just sat for 3 years, not gaining or losing. My daughter saw Dr. Singh in Baltimore and had the sleeve on Feb. 8th. I talked with him about doing a revision to the sleeve on me and he said we should try to work with my band first before going to a revision. Well he asked if he could try to fill it and I said sure and he did it!! He was able to fill it. I couldn't believe it. I wasted 3 years feeling sorry for myself. Since March 22, my fill date with him, I have lost 33 lbs. I go for another fill June 28th. Hopefully my weight will keep going down and I will finally be on my way! I am a little jealous that my daughter has lost 65 lbs since Feb. 8th. I'm glad for her but also jealous. I want that kind of weight loss. Good luck to you all on your surgeries.

Am I the fattest one here?

Hi Dibley Dawn, I see by your info on the bottom of your posts that you had a revision. What did you have, the sleeve or gastric? I have a band and had similar issues but the port did not actually turn on me, it was just that 2 doctors said it did and I just gave up. So for 3 years I just sat and did nothing. But I saw Dr. Singh in March to see about a revision to the sleeve and he asked if he could try to fill it and I said sure. Well he was able to fill it and said it had not turned. What the heck!! What were the others seeing!!! Well since March 22, 2012 I have lost 33 lbs and go for another fill this week, June 28th.
  7. Hi everyone, I have a band but it was not done by Dr. Singh. I found him because he did my daughter's sleeve surgery. I love him. He is so funny and has a great bedside manner. I started using him because my surgeon stopped taking my insurance. I have only lost 33 lbs. Its a kinda long story but the short of is, I was banded in 2008, after my first fill the dr said he isn't taking insurance anymore and I couldn't afford the fill without it. I tried 2 other surgeons and they told me the port had turned and I would have to have another surgery to put it back in place. I just gave up at that time and sat for 3 years doing nothing. Not gaining not losing - nothing. After my daughters surgery I asked Dr. Singh about a revision and he asked it he could try to fill me and he did!!! I couldn't believe it. So, since March 22, I have lost 33 lbs. I go on June 28th for another visit and hopefully another fill. I hope I have the results you all are talking about. I'm so glad everyone is doing so well. Joyce
