  1. I had VSG on 11/30/17 and I feel AMAZING! I've lost 105lbs so far. I was 343lbs on the day of surgery and 238lbs at the moment. The surgery has been an incredible tool. I'm at the gym every day, I mean prep and stay away from carbs/sugar. The liquid diet after surgery puts your body in ketosis and I stuck with it when I moved to regular foods. I stay under 20g of carbs per day, 50g if I'm carb cycling (complex carbs only) and I try to get around 1200 calories in - some days it's a struggle to hit 1200 because I don't feel hungry and/or I'm satisfied by a few bites. I'm halfway to my goal and getting closer to one-derland!

Almost 6 months post VSG (pics)

I saw my surgeon a few weeks ago and he didn't mention where I "should" be, he was just pleased with my progress and I will see him again in July. He said I should be around 200lbs by then. Everyone is different...don't stress! Go by how you FEEL, not what the scale says. Do you track your calories? Have you tried tweaking your diet a bit? Hang in there... you're doing great!

Yes 343 was my highest. I didn't do a pre op diet. I was self pay so I didn't have many pre op requirements. I had to see a nutritionist 3 times and although we put together a diet plan I didn't follow it. I actually gained weight during the process. I was 337 at my first appointment with the surgeon and 343 the day of surgery. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

Any late November sleevers? I was discharged yesterday afternoon. Trying to get used to this new life!

My portions are small but I can definitely keep down more than you! I still do protein shakes for breakfast because I never liked eating early in the morning and I go to the gym at 6am so I need something in my belly. For lunch I'll either do another shake or a yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. Any of those keep me full and satisfied without needing to snack. For dinner I do about 2-3 oz of baked chicken and a little vegetable on the side. The dense protein still makes me feel overly full and most times I'm done after 2 or 3 bites. Some days I have no hunger at all so I just do 3 protein shakes to make sure I'm getting my protein requirements. Drinking is very easy for me and it goes down without issue. 60lbs is awesome!!!! Congrats [emoji106] [emoji106] I've been stuck at 40lbs down for about a week now. I feel good though so hopefully I'll see more loss soon.
  7. I haven't been on birth control for almost 8 years. I'm good at tracking my cycle and being careful around ovulation, but my doctor said fertility goes way up with the rapid weight loss so just to be on the safe side I'm going back on the pill. I saw my Gyn today and she put me on Camila. Doing progestin only until my blood pressure is lower. I'm wondering if anyone else uses Camila or has experience on it. I read reviews online and most were negative so before I start it I figured I'd ask here for opinions. IUD is kind of a last resort if the pill doesn't work out.

    Birth control after surgery

I'm so afraid of the pain! Yearly exams don't bother me at all but the thought of having an iud put in is too much. My doctor said they will do it under sedation... that's the only way I'd consider doing it.

    Birth control after surgery

I loved ortho tri cyclen...it's all I've ever used. But because of my blood pressure I can't use birth control with estrogen. Progestin only.

I had pizza for the first time since surgery yesterday! It was AMAZING. One small piece of pepperoni pizza was sooooo satisfying and worth the wait.
  11. Totally agree! I'm a month post op and had the same concerns at first. I never felt restricted on liquids, and when I graduated to puree/soft solids last week I still didn't feel that "full" feeling. I started "normal" foods yesterday and dense proteins ABSOLUTELY fill me after a few bites and keep me satisfied for hours. It's a whole new world when you get to normal textures! Hang in there.
  12. I took 2 weeks but could have gone back after one. I never had any pain or nausea, but I was pretty tired and crabby (liquid diet is a b***h) and didn't want to do much. By the end of 2 weeks I was SO ready to be back at work.
  13. I'm 10 days post op and still on liquid only. I drink 3 Protein Shakes a day, 11oz each. It goes down very easily...no discomfort at all. It only takes me about 5 minutes and then I can still drink Water in between shakes. I'm nervous that my doctor didn't take enough stomach haha. Some of you are struggling to get 4oz in 30 minutes and I'm over here feeling like I'm still at pre-op capacity. I'm hoping when I get to solid foods I'll feel that full feeling after a few bites like a lot of you mention.

    Surgery and period ugggh

No worries with the bending and inserting! I got my period 2 days after surgery - I knew it was coming so before surg I bought pads because I had the same concerns. I started with pads but hated the feeling so I switched to tampons with no issues. No pain at all with the bending. Do what works for you! Good luck [emoji106] [emoji106]

Haha when in doubt, Urban Dictionary... 1.) *popular and well known definition* triggered is when someone gets offended or gets their feelings hurt, often used in memes to describe feminist, or people with strong victimization. (the use of this word through social media is generally ableist.) I shouldn't have even said it. I was being snarky and unhelpful. But I'm hungryyyyy [emoji23] [emoji23]
