  1. Hello all! Got a question on Vitamins pre op... i take 3 of the Bariatric Advantage Multivitamins with Iron a day and then I take an extra iron pill too since I am anemic. I also take a Biotin barimelt too. Should I even be taking the multi Vitamin preop? and do I need to stop them before surgery? I asked the surgeon... sent him an email... waiting for response.

Just trying to see what others have done. My surgery is april 2nd so just a little over 2 weeks away.

  2. just contact your doctor office that submits everything and they can change it for you and resubmit... it usually takes less than 2 weeks for an answer from BCBS. They are pretty fast. You can call them within a few days to check on it as well. Thats what I did. It only took a week or so for me.

I'm not a medical professional...I'm definitely no expert..:)

    Options:

call your surgeons office and ask for a pre op diet plan.

Download myfitnesspal food log app. (it's a great tool that most of us use post op) Many other food log apps out there.

    TDEE Calculator:

    https://tdeecalculator.net/

It will calculate how many calories Protein, fats carbs to eat. It will do this by you sex, age, weight height and activity level. (skip the entry for body fat percentage)

    hit calculate:

The top left is your maintenance calories: Scroll down to macros. You will see three tabs (maintenance) (cutting) (bulking)

Click on cutting this is your weight loss calories and macros: Not the carb breakdowns. Use the low carb ratio

    Best of luck to you,

    jenn

    Hello Jenn,

great stuff you posted! thanks! Do you prefer myfittnesspal over baritastic app? I am using the baritastic now.

Gallbladder pain is SO BAD! For me it was worse than child birth. I kept having symptoms and put it off too long. I ended up being in the hospital for 5 days because it was so infected, huge, gall stones in the bile duct etc. I don’t have my WLS date yet but when I went for my 1st appt with the dr yesterday, she said, “we normally do an ultrasound on everyone’s gallbladder but since you’ve already had yours out - no ultrasound needed”

I agree gall bladder pain is awful!! i had pain on and off but haven't had any for about 6 months . Once I went for my pre op ultrasound they could see a couple stones.. so mine will come out on april 2nd during my weight loss surgery.

reenee1969, glad you are doing ok... im nervous with having al that done... since you are day 8 out... are you able to do things on your own? Move around, etc.. reason im asking is because my mom will be here for 2 weeks after surgery so I am hoping that enough time to have her here to help me. She lives in another state. my surgeon says ill be fine in a week. I just like to get other people' s experience as well.

I had the same condition had 3 surgeries in one I think the pain is a little more then it would have been but I’m 8 day out lost 21.4 pounds and getting better every day still hard to get Protein in for me and all meds but it’s getting better

Just got really bad news from my doctor’s visit today about the pain I’m experiencing. I just want to cry. He said it most likely my gallbladder and will need surgery again to remove it. I’m so upset. I’m scared, frustrated and really regretting this whole thing. From all the research I’ve done, never knew my gallbladder would be affected with weight loss and he did not mention it. WTF!
    Feeling so down

Oh no so sorry to hear that! Don't worry it wont be bad... hang in there! I worried that the same thing would happen to me so I spoke to my surgeon about it the other day while he was giving me my surgery date which is april 2nd,! and he didn't have it on the list to do with my surgery until I brought it up... then he sad YES there are gall stones and we will remove it during your weight loss surgery an fix a hiatal hernia as well. Ughh not looking forward to all that but it has to be done. I thought it would anyway since I have had that same kind of pain in the past that you are currently having . I don't think you will have problems recovering and you will feel so much relief after it is done. best wishes

  7. I’m having surgery April 9th. My surgeon will also do hiatal hernia surgery the same I time I get my VSG. My doctor only requires 2 days of preop liquid diet but I’m starting early to try and lose a little more weight before my surgery date. Good luck on your journey!

Awesome !! Isn’t it exciting!! Lucky you on that pre op diet! [emoji3] ! Good luck to you as well!![emoji3]

  8. Got my Surgery date today! Its going to be on April 2nd, 2018 day after Easter...:) can't wait!!! I wanted it this month but this gives me an extra week to plan!

Doc says he is doing a triple on me...Duodenal Switch, fixing hiatal hernia and taking my gall bladder out too! Lord!!!!

So I will be on 2 week liver reduction diet, 1 week shakes Snacks and lean and green and then the dreaded liquid week 5 shakes a day! ughhhh! lol cant wait for that lolol NOT!!! Since I know I don't have to start this until 2 weeks before my date , but I feel like I should start early on the lean and green that way i can lose a little more weight before my date.

While I was at the doctor's office I picked up all my shakes stuff and snacks and b complex and that Isopure stuff. Anyway wanted to share with everyone. I am beyond Excited!

Any April surgery buddies out there?
