  1. Day 3 of my liquid diet. Somehow I managed to sleep until 1:45pm today and it's AMAZING what it's done for me! I have no headache for the first time in almost 48 hours. I feel much more stable and clear-headed. Woot woot! I have also lost 6 lbs in the first two days LOL. Wow!

  2. So yesterday, I did a dumb thing. I went to see the Dietitian and Therapist at my surgeons office and I was so anxious at the fact that I had not lost any more weight. I had forgot to eat since Thursday morning (It could have been that I subconsciously did it out of fear of being told I am not doing a job). I weighed in at 196 lbs and found out that I had lost 5 inches since my last visit which they were proud of. They gave me a much needed pep talk and I was ready to tackle on the world again.

I went to the gym (still had not eaten) and began my workout. My second set in and apparently I fainted. I know my trainer woke me up and apparently, I was trying to climb on the pull-up bars yelling, “I have to do the pull-ups” . Then in the Ambulance I am telling them that they are trying to hold me back from exercising and this is why our relationship will never workout . They tried to give me Oxygen and apparently I got rude with them and said, “I’m not paying $400 for **** that I can do naturally and for free.”

After some testing, I found out my blood pressure and sugar was very low and I was severely dehydrated as well.

Well 6 hours, $100 copay (probably hundreds in ER bills cause they will charge you for napping) and an annoyed mother later, the moral of the story is to remember to eat. Just eat. Don’t worry about the scale and the mind games it plays. Just eat. Now I am not saying junk food or anything like that but eat the healthy stuff. Don’t be afraid to.

I was so in my own head, that I forgot one of the most essential parts of living and that is fueling this body I have worked so hard for.

Oh man, I remember how miserable that was. Was one of the hardest parts of the process in my opinion. I was starving, ornery and my brain wasn't working right....just felt kinda unhinged. Was awful! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other...you'll get there and after surgery, it's tough, but it's all down hill. You got this! Keep up the hard work!

  7. 4 weeks away!!!! I am suddenly nervous... Mostly about the pre op diet. The idea of 4 shakes and sugar free liquid for days and days is scary. the first part of mine is basically what I am doing now but week 2...

  8. Hello everyone, I am 8 months out. I work for a doctor's office. My only real concern is that when I check my urine, there is just about everything showing up in my urine sample, so that's freaking me out. Is anyone else having this problem? Of course your urine tells how your internal organs are functioning, ie kidneys, liver, and so on. I'm very concerned and am stressing because of this. Usually when we check a patient's urine and anything out of the ordinary shows up, we send it out for further test, because it's cause for real concern. I went to my doctor, the Nurse Practitioner saw me cause my doctor was not available. She said it was because I'm not eating enough, like I'm starving myself and my body is basically eating off my organs. Does anyone have some other theories about what could be going on.

  9. Surgery is postponed...insurance did not approve it citing "not medically necessary."  I was calling to check what time I was going to report for surgery, I was told I was not on the list.  Probably due to some finance (insurance) problem and for me to call finance in the morning.  I come home late from work and see the letter from the insurance company stating it did not appear that my doctor was working with me on my weigh loss and that it was not medically necessary.

I'm frustrated, but not defeated.  I filed for an appeal this morning.  I called the clinic and I was advised to wait.  So now I wait....

Man, I envy you that one meal a day. Even just meat and a veggie...sounds like heaven right now.

What are the rules of your pre-op diet? How long and what day are you on?

You do the same! We're in this mess together. LOL! I think we're gonna make it...but man this stretch is the hard part. Day three sucked so bad for me. Day seven is better, but man, I'm looking forward to January!

December 5th:) I'm really excited...and kinda terrified...but mostly excited. Couple other tips about the liquid diet... My diet allows one serving of either cream of wheat or yogurt once a day (about 100 calories worth)...if you have this, after a couple days, it's a good idea to eat this before you drive to stay sharp on the road. You might notice being forgetful, feeling rattled. Doing my one "actual food item" before I have to drive really helps. Also...I've got five clothes pins clipped to my kitchen curtain....I move them to the other side when I drink each shake, that way I can remember how many I've drunk. The first few days, my brain fog was awful....getting a lot better now. Good luck!

All I can offer is mutual misery. LOL. I've been on mine a week now, and it's shockingly difficult. I'm hanging in there...but this is so much harder than I imagined. Gets a little easier past day 5, but damn, i'm hungry and grouchy. One tip I can give you...is to do other stuff that your body enjoys. Take a long hot bath or go to the hottub with your partner. Get a massage. Get your hair or nails done. Being kind to my body in other ways seems to make me feel a little better. Sending you sympathy. Hang in there:)

  18. As I stepped on my scale this morning I wasn't expecting anything because I had stall a few days ago and figured it was going to stay that way. I knew stalls were going to happen and I'm okay with that. I feel like it's part of life. What actually happened was not what I was expecting. I made my 100 lb goal this morning. From my highest weight of 421 at the first of the year I am down to 320. 2 lbs. I was shocked. I had ordered my 100 lb progress bead for my key chain knowing it wouldn't get here until after thanksgiving. Giving me enough time to drop the weight if it was going to happen. If it didn't happen I would just hang on to the bead until I did and add it to my keychain. Guess I'll be adding it when it gets here.

Each bead represents a goal I made for myself things like walking around the grocery store every week for a month to losing the exact amount of weight my pit bull weighs (60 lbs) Little things like that give me focus and a goal to work towards.
