  1. Congrats! I had my surgery on April 24th and my first visit is today also. Did they advance your diet any?
  2. I had my first bm 5 days after surgery. My nurse told me to up my stool softner intake from 1 Colace to 2 a day. It did the trick. I am almost 2 weeks out and happy to say I had a bm back to back this week and I am excited about that!
  3. You will open your eyes, look around then go right back to sleep. Lol. I spoke with the nurse about pain and then she gave me morphin. My eyes went bright then i was out. She got a good laugh at me because of that. Like gassy girl, groggy is the better word to describe the first few moments after surgery.
  4. My doctor said 2 weeks.
  5. Has anyone experienced tingling in legs after surgery. When i go the bathroom, my legs start to fall asleep immediately. Is this normal?
  6. My mouth just watered! Lol i need you to come prepare all these dishes [emoji23]
  7. Had my surgery on April 24th and no amount of research could prepare me for what I felt! However, things are looking up for sure! I’m walking daily and getting back to feeling normal. I’m struggling with liquids but my mom came in for the surgery and she has a timer set to make sure I’m exercising and drinking. Now, we are in the process of complying some food food ideas for the purée stage. This is something I’m looking forward to after being on liquids going on 3 weeks now! Any recipe suggestions? Down over 20lbs since i started the liquid diet to now! Woohoo!!!
  8. Ok, this is going to sound gross but I’ve been on my liquid diet almost 2 weeks now and I’m having major constipation right now. I have taken stool softeners and did an enema. When i go to push, the hard piece is stuck and liquid just comes out around it. So nasty I know! I’ve even resorted to digging pieces out myself and still nothing. Now I’m in pain and crying. I can’t pee because the pain of pushing hurts my butt. Does anyone have a recommendation or should I just call the doctor?
  9. I’ve lost 20 lbs already. I honestly think it depends on the person.

Thanks for sharing your story, Jess! You are awesome and congrats on your progress.
  11. After being on the liquid diet for a few days, I am already noticing a difference. I am truly amazed. I was doing some research and the sugar intake contributes significantly to A.N. On this liquid diet I've only been getting in about 5g of sugar a day.
  12. I have PCOS too. I believe A.N. is also a possible side effect. I have it on my inner thighs also.
  13. For those who suffer with A.N., did you recognize a difference with your condition after surgery? Since I was 10 I’ve struggled with darkness in certain areas and would love to see an improvement with surgery. I’ve tried everything possible externally but no improvement. For those who don’t know, Acanthosis Nigricans is a skin condition that causes dark velvety areas on the body in places such as the armpits, neck, around mouth, etc.
  14. Hi! I started my liquid diet 4 days ago! Surgery will be on April 24th. I am here for support and I’ll sure need some in return!
  15. Decided to post one of my before pics. Surgery date is April 24th and approaching quickly so I figured it was time to snap one!
  16. I am drinking the strawberry flavored one right now!
  17. Hey everyone! I could use a little motivation today! I just started my liquid diet and I am trying to remain strong. Could you ladies and gents drop any before and after pics? Thanks!

Since January, I have been on a plane a total of 8 times. Every experience has been different. On some planes, I can fit the seat belt no issue and other times I struggle. On Friday, I was traveling and I could NOT get my seat belt to buckle! I almost wanted to cry and I am sure the guy beside me felt bad. All I could think was this is my last plane ride pre-surgery. After a few minutes, it buckled and my arm was sore later like I had worked out! Some of these planes were not built for hippy people and add a stomach on top of that and it's just darn right uncomfortable! Anyway, I am looking forward to not having this issue in the future. Does anyone else have things that they are looking forward to not dealing with after surgery?
  19. I start my liquid diet next month, and I am curious to know how this went with those who are pre-diabetic? I did a test run for myself this week and I was weak, off-balanced, and my vision was a little blurred. I'm not sure if this is because I'm pre-diabetic or if my body just went into shock! LOL! These are all things I will share with my surgeon before starting the liquid diet.
  20. Thanks @MaggieH2 and @AshAsh1 ! Look forward to seeing your before and after pics, Maggie!
  21. That is good advice! I will definitely break it down to them so they are not worrying so much. You have a wise Nana! Words to live by! lol
  22. Thank you and the same to you! I have started now half days on liquid just to ease my way over. I will say that I am not looking forward to it but I will look at all these before and after pictures and imagine my life with potentially not being on metformin and I will push through!
  23. @Sosewsue61 thank you! I have Premier Protein on my desk right now! I agree it is time to get excited!
  24. @TLHvsg2018 it is so very important to get rid of the toxic people in your life before making this decision. You are already "hotter" than them because of your heart! Now you are taking the steps to have that heartbeat for longer in your new healthy body! Yay to being my surgery buddy! I am grateful for the support! I just peeped your profile and you are gorgeous! They just hating lol!
  25. I recently received my surgery date and it's on April 24th. Since I received my date, I have told a few people in my closest circle of friends and family. However, I have received a little pushback from people who I thought would be supportive. For example, my mom keeps trying to find excuses for me to push back my surgery date by saying things like, "oh let's wait until after you finish building your house" or "oh it's a stressful time at work right now you should push it off." I've just been standing firm and saying that no time is ever going to be perfect. Then today, one of my close friends stated, " I am worried about you because of everything going on right now (budget cuts at our job and reorganization occurring)." I know they care about me but I am tired of having to defend my decision to have a healthier lifestyle.
