Same here. My surgery team told me to subtract the liquid ounces of my shakes and /or broth from my total liquid ounces.

In my case, about 13-14 hours re the gas AND about 18 hours for the bowels.
Mind you, my bowel movements resembling "normality" ... i.e. not being 85% or more gas or runny liquid ... that took about nine days.

So happy for you & already able to post? That’s awesome! I had my RNY 3 weeks ago & was way too drained to post anything for a full week at least! Anyway many congrats to you for making it so far! I was 227 lbs on surg day & only managed to lose 6 lbs after surgery so far!? It’s crazy! I hope your wt loss goes quicker than mine! I havn’t been drinking Water as it’s made me sick, so today finally choked down 20 oz so far (& it’s only noon) so I’ll def be getting in another 20-40 oz today. If you can, sip all day on water to increase wt loss. Congrats!

I'm 5'1 and my day of surgery weight was 231.7. I just had the RNY on Monday. Trying to rest and walk and get my fluids in for now.

I am 5’5. Numbers can be so frustrating.. everyone is so different. I now weigh 170 and have friends who weigh 20lbs less but we share clothes. Try not to be too focused on a certain number and just aim for what you feel confident with!

Don't fret! this will pass!! drink what u can tolerate Water was especially harsh on me so i had to do gatorade as to not get dehydrated but it does get better! U made the choice u wont regret it, just gotta get over these first couple of weeks. you have a whole community here to help!

I just had my RNY surgery yesterday. Does anyone know how long it takes to not feel full of gas and when to.expect first bowel movement? Thanks
