Dr Lomax, Peoria, IL
Hello..has anyone used Dr Lomax out of Peoria, IL for plastic surgery?

lat chance
Yes, seeing a doctor who does a couple different procedures is an excellent idea. I had the band because I was afraid of the bypass surgery. But I realize now there's very little to be afraid of with either of them. Either way there will be alot of changes in your life, and 99% of them will be to the good.

How long after a fill do stay on liquid diet?

Anyone NOT LOSE their hair?
At my pre-op class & 3 month check up/seminar they talked about it. Said it usually starts around 3 months & ends about 9 months. Meeting the protein and water requirements is helpful. They suggested a few OTC vitamins (Biotin maybe) & some shampoos that can be bought at Walgreens or from a stylist. For me, I see extra shedding espcially when shampooing/conditioning. But I see it as short term & a small price to pay. Good Luck!

TLCEdge Self Pay: How long from consult to surgery?
I was self pay also. It took 4 1/2 months from seminar to surgery. The doctor was hard to get into (5 weeks after seminar) and the pulmonologist (required testing) was another 5 weeks to get in to. After that, surgery was scheduled a month after I had the testing completed. It was a good time to think about things. Good Luck!

How do you deal with no drinks during eating?
For me, during the meal isn't as bad as after the meal. My doc's rules are 90 minutes after a meal. I usually pop some sugar free lifesavers or gum to help cleanse my palette & add some saliva to my mouth.

Tomorrow-- Start of a New Life
Good Luck tomorrow! I was banded 07.15.08 and had to stay overnight also & I'm glad I did. I had a good recovery. I've been really pleased w/ my results (down 33 lbs) and I haven't had any troubles. LBT has helped me alot. It helped me fill in alot of the blanks. Here's to you. Congratulations.

Narrowminded Coworkers
My coworkers, at least to my face, have been pretty decent. Today, we were talking about things I have had to give up (like soda). She said it would be too hard for her to give things up. I said that sometimes it is hard, but reminded her that being fat is hard.

Questioning my Inner Circle
I also was excited & told all my close people (family & friends). Everyone in my family was very supportive. My thin friends were also supportive. I was suprised that my overweight friends were not supportive...at first. I think they got used to the idea & when they knew I was going to do it they got on the bandwagon. They also were afraid of change & taking a look at their own lifestyles. I'm down 25 lbs & they seem to be happy for me.

Please respond if you started with a bmi around 40
I'm another one struggling w/ the same scenario. My BMI was 41 pre-op. I lost 10 on the pre-op diet & another 12 since surgery, but that also was in the first 2 weeks. Now I just wait for the scale to move-and it doesn't. I'm trying hard to just maintain.

so how long from start to finish??
I was a self pay so I didn't have to do the 6 month weight loss program, but it still took me 4 1/2 months from seminar to surgery. It took about a month to get in to see the surgeon for the first time. After I was cleared for surgery w/ the preop testing I had to wait another month because my Dr was already booked a month out. It was a good opportunity to prepare myself.

Surgery Scheduled for August 15th and I have questions
I had surgery on Tuesday and went back to work (desk job) on Friday. On Saturday I was tired, but felt ok. On my 3rd day post-op (Friday) I started pureed protein. I was not hungry the first week, but by the 2nd week I was getting there. I did not have alot of pain. My gas pains were an aching across my back. I took the Vicadin for just a couple days. Good luck!

Forced to pay for $300 "package" from Silver Cross in Joliet?
I hear ya, jbflorida. Mine was $15,400. My insurance did pick up alot of the pre-op appointments & testing, but there was probably another $400 out of my pocket for that, too. Are you able to turn your expenses in on your income taxes? I plan on doing that.

Forced to pay for $300 "package" from Silver Cross in Joliet?
I had mine at Silver Cross last month. I was self pay. I think there was a program fee involved. Paying $300 isn't so bad, especially if your insurance is going to be covering the majority. Good Luck!

Caffeine after LB surgery?
My doctor also said it is a stimulant & could possibly get your appetite going.

How many calories are you eating 3 weeks or more post op?
Thank Goodness I saw this! I am also 2 1/2 week post-op & have stopped losing. I am not eating alot (500-900) per day. It is all mostly protein because that's what my Dr prescribes. And I'm thinking What the Heck! So what's the deal? We're adjusting? I am so glad others are wondering, too.

Why does weight lost stop immediately after surgery?
When I went post-op day 2 to get my staples out the nurse said not to be weighing myself yet because I was still full of liquids and bloated from the gas they use for surgery. Today I am 5 days post-op. I don't have a scale at home so I don't know how much I've lost-if any.

Can"t wait to be post op !!!
Hey Melody-I'm the same day & about 1 1/2 hours from Rockford. I'm going to Silver Cross in Joliet. Good luck!

Pre op questions
I started out thinking I couldn't do it. I had to tell myself it's just food and get over it! I've been on the pre-op diet for 5 days now. It hasn't been so bad. I was reading a thread the day I started where people said they were having a good experience w/ it and I decided I would have a good experience too. Over the 4th I was not perfect, but I stuck to it pretty close. It's been kind of an achievement for me.

And so it begins...
Wow-You just put down what I have thought a hundred times over. The anxiousness over anethesia and not being able to follow thru on weight loss has always been on my mind, too. Then just like you, I said I can face these fears. I can do it and I will do it. I keep telling myself things will be fine. Many have gone before us and are doing great. We will do great, too. I know it!
