Hi everyone, I’m dropping in to share some great news! It's been in the works for many months and it's been a long time coming, now Fill Centers USA has opened their new location in Meridian, Idaho which is a suburb of Boise. This location is the first Fill Center USA owned location and will be staffed by Fill Center USA employees. This center will perform ALL fills via fluroscopy. As manager of this location, I will also be starting a Lap Band support group within the next month or so. This support group will be open to all Lap Band patients as well as pre op patients needing pre op support and anyone looking into Lap Banding who would like more information. As soon as I have the location, date and time, I will post that information here as well as on several other group forums. Hi All, I too was a self pay patient and had my surgery in Mexico in 1995. At that time, I could not afford the cost for Lap Band in the US. I have to say that I had a great experience with my surgeon, his staff and my entire stay in Mexico. If I had to offer one subject of negativety, it would be availability for aftercare/fills. When I add up all the money I've spent traveling for fills, I could have had surgery here in the US and it would have been A LOT cheaper in the end. Also, there are a lot of very good and expereinced US surgeons offering Lap Band surgery at competative prices to the cost of surgery in Mexico. You just have to take the time to do some research and do the math. Aftercare and fills are SOOOOOOO important, so make that a priority when making a decision about traveling abroad for your surgery. Some US providers charge outrageous prices for fills and patients realize too late that they cannot affort those prices, thus they cannot utilize their bands as intended. However, there are US providers that are somewhat reasonable in their pricing for fills. My best advice is to have your fill provider lined up before you go for surgery out of the country. Hi all, I've not had much time to be a part of any forum for some time now, but realize how much I miss all the support and friendships, so here I am. I was banded in Mexoco a little over two years ago and I am a very happy bandster! This surgery has changed my life for the better in more ways than I ever imagined. The Lap Band rocks!!! :huh2:
