  1. Your doing a great job. The first month is usually when you have that big initial weight-loss but 9 pound a month is amazing. I'm a week from my 1 year anniversary and just got off a two month stall, I was averaging 3 pounds a month from 6-9 months, nothing for 10-11 months and I've lost a pound in the last 2 days so I'm back to losing again. This process does slowly become slow and steady and it can be frustrating but I just remind myself when did I ever lose 86 pounds in a year?

Congratulations on your success so far that’s amazing... these stalls definitely suck but your right have to look at the bigger picture which can be hard sometimes thank you for the encouraging words

  2. Nine pounds per month is great. I am only losing about five. You will see later on that your weight loss is going to slow down even quite a bit more than that. I eat less than 1,200 calories per day, work out 6-8X per week, and still only manage to drop a pound on average per week. I am definitely leaning up though, even though I'm not losing much weight. I am also pretty close to goal, so a slower weight loss it expected.
Don't be discouraged though. Even a five pound per month loss is still sixty pounds per year.

Thank you sometimes you need these reality checks to remind u that just because you had surgery it’s still a journey and will be a work in progress

  3. I would be thrilled with 9 pounds a month. You didn't gain all your weight in a few months...you won't lose it that fast either.

Your body consumes an insane number of calories healing itself immediately following a major surgery, plus you had several days of not eating at all in there. You've done the heavy lifting of healing at this point, and you're starting to eat again. You can only lose the number of pounds your body is consuming in calories.

According to mayo Clinic...A 250 lb. female who is moderately active burns about 2,050 calories per day.

Assuming you're eating about 1000 calories a day....the best you can hope for is about 2 pounds per week with moderate activity.

If you want to up this number...you have to up your calorie burn....which means more exercise every day.

The other way to up the number, is to eat fewer calories....which is a trap, because while you will lose a little more weight, you'll end up resetting your metabolism to a starvation conservation level that makes weight loss more difficult...and regain more likely.

If you want to lose more....exercise more.

But 9 pounds a month....is phenomenal progress. Be happy you're doing so well!

Thank you for the information and encouraging words

  4. After I recovered, 12 weeks, I began working towards walking my 10K steps a day. That is my goal every day. Then I also work out an hour a day doing bootcamp yoga and I try to do that 5 times a week.

I run around, lift things and have a very busy life. As I said, for the first 6 months I only focused on getting in my 10K steps a day. Then 6 months in I ADDED in Yoga daily, beginners yoga. 6 months in on that and I've worked my way up to bootcamp type yoga.

IMO, yes, if I were you I would be trying to get in my steps every day and then trying to work in another work-out. These first 18 months are where all the changes happen, where all the hard work pays off. These are the months we need to fully dedicate to to this process. It's not easy, I hated it some days. But now I'm about to start wearing a size 8, I'm feeling better than ever have in my life, I more fit than ever and I feel like I'm ready to start training for American Ninja Warrior! lol! I LOVE where I am at and part of that is because I put in the hard work and sacrifice each day in the past 14 months and will continue to till I've hit "goal". And then it's time to focus on maintaining and learning what THAT life is like.

Good Luck! I am sure you will do great no matter what avenue you take!!! Congratulations on doing so well!!!

Congrats on your success amazing... you are absolutely right thank you

  5. For the first year after surgery, I exercised daily. Generally this was by hill walking. My driveway was steep and I would walk up and down the driveway for 30 minutes per day. This is a great form of exercise because it uses two different sets of muscles; one set on the way up and a different set on the way down. It was also great because all I had to do was step out my front door. But I am not a great fan of exercise. It feels like wasted effort. But I am a great fan of physical labor. So in the “Maintenance” phase, I relied on physical work. This took several forms.
I live in Indiana. My driveway is 700 feet long. During the winter when it snows, I shovel my driveway. It is strenuous work but without the added weight on my body, it is not hard. I also heat my house all winter with firewood. So during the winter I am constantly moving firewood for my wood stove to keep the house warm.
During the rest of the year, there is cutting a large yard of grass and planting a garden and an assortment of other chores. Even a trip to the mailbox to get the mail is a walk of 1/4 mile.
One of the tasks I worked on over the past 2 years was building an underground shelter. Tornados struck about 7 years ago, just after I retired. The tornados did a lot of destruction to my property but spared my house. My house is a one story without a basement and there is really no place to take shelter in the event of another tornado. So I decided to build an underground shelter from an intermodal-shipping container into the side of my hill. Of course, if I build a storm shelter, it should also be a root cellar. And if I go to the effort of building a storm shelter/root cellar then why not go through a little extra effort and build it for Come-What-May, including asteroid impacts, nuclear war and nearby supernovas, etc.
So last year I moved 100,000 pounds of gravel by hand along with around 60,000 pounds of concrete blocks and this year I moved about the same amount.
This year I constructed a log cabin playhouse for the grandkids. I am 69 years old.

  7. I can't believe it, almost a year ago I was 316 pounds. I was nervous, and eating every horrible and unhealthy meal I thought I would never be able to eat again because I knew I was about to change my life on December 14, 2016.

I was sleeved on 12/14/16 and it was truly one of the best life decisions I ever made. It was not easy, from being in and out of the ER due to dehydration in my early stage.. barely being able to eat anything besides liquids/apple sauce for 2 months.. to now being able to eat honestly anything, just with Portion Control. I'm well known on social media, and people always ask me what do I eat, what should they eat, did I get additional surgery etc.. even on here as I try to respond to all messages I tell everyone the same thing: My journey will NOT be yours. We are all different, we are individuals and our bodies are all different. My experience was deff not easy but yes I love my results. If you are questioning getting sleeved, do your research and then say YES. I was so nervous about getting sleeved, I researched for months before I started the process. I'm so glad I turned my life around. I am literally crying as I type this because I am so happy. food no longer controls my life, I do. The best feeling is self love and happiness... I was always confident but now I truly feel happy. 100%. And my journey is not even over yet, it just began.

I will post pics because the few friends I have on here always ask lol! Love you guys. And I love all my sleevers. [emoji173]️

  9. I'm only 3 weeks out, but my fiber intake has been incredibly low. I do add benefiber to my drinks, but how else are you guys getting your fiber in early on? (I'm not asking about Constipation or miralax or anything like that, just fiber)
It's a struggle for me to barely hit or get close to my Protein and Fluid intake in daily from the constant fullness. So I'm trying to figure out ways to add more fiber, without being more full and struggling to hit protein/fluid even more
I never asked my physician but what about tablets, gummies, capsules? I know a lot of them are inulin based which is pretty shitty as far as fiber is concerned.
Ive never had to get the lions share of my fiber from supplements before it's probably the hardest thing to supplement! (when struggling with fullness)

I️ was sleeved 10/20/17 my nutritionist told me I️ wasn’t allowed to add high fiber to my diet until 2 months out

  10. My doctor said that I should give it two weeks and see how I feel. Every doctor will say something different. Listen to your doctor, and if you feel like you are not ready by then, then don't do it until you are ready. I waited almost 2 months before my fiance and I were intimate following surgery. Don't let anyone pressure you after the date you are given. You don't have to be ready. You can wait if you feel like you need. I understand how awkward it can be to ask your doctor when the right time to have sex is, but it's a nessecery question, with some much needed council, like to use bc, or another form of protection due to not being able to get pregnant within the first year. 11. That’s how I feel right now and I’m just three days out. I’m hoping maybe a month out but I don’t want to put a lot of pressure on my stomach.

The first week is def the roughest and you think it will never end but the more you sip fluids and walk before you know I️t you will be better I’m a month out and feel like I️ never had surgery lol find a position that works for both of you and your not putting pressure on your stomach and you tell him to go slow but don’t rush I️t your body will tell you when you ready [emoji4]

  12. I️ was sleeved 10/20/17 I️ was able to about 2 and a half weeks but everyone is different u will kno when u feel comfortable I️ was nauseous and could barely get out of bed or get fluids so sex definitely was the last thing on my mind in the beginning lol

  13. Sleeved nov 11/17

I’m getting about 600-800 calories in.
I’m aiming for 40/40/20 macro on my nutrition. When I was lifting hard I’d consume 5000 calories plus a day. I had lots of muscle mass but I couldn’t get below 22% body fat. Then of course bad habits took over. And my weight became a battle

I walk 1.5 miles in 40 minutes on a treadmill at 7 incline. I’m going to start lifting Jan 1, but for muscle tone only. My days of powerlifting are over.

Protein will help preserve your muscle and force your body to use fat cells as energy.

    How do your clothes fit?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They are fitting more comfortable especially my jeans there not cutting into my stomach I️ have extra room I’m able to fit in a xl shirt in some places before it was a 3x or2x... thank you for replying I️ appreciate your help good luck on your journey [emoji4]...... I’ve been mostly doin meats since they have the most Protein I️ don’t get my protein from shakes because after surgery they all made me nauseous I️ have tried them all

  14. What r you doing for exercise?

These are my rules I stick too
Rule # 1 it’s only a number it’s how your clothes feel and how you feel.
    Rule # 2
Lifting weight or resistance training of some sort is a must. Your muscle that you tone and build will use the fat as energy and infact you could way more but be smaller if that makes sense.

I was heavy into powerlifting but won’t be anymore since I was sleeved as being over 300lbs is not good for your heart or joints.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I️ have only been walking haven’t been cleared for anything more then that... also with barely get in 500 calories a day I️ was just surprised... how far out are you on this journey and how many calories do you consume daily

  15. Hi all. I'm two weeks post op and am doing well overall. I am wondering if anyone ever experienced random dizzy spells after surgery. They seem to come on very suddenly and I have to immediately sit down drink some Water and rest. It seems to happen every day. I'm also sleeping a lot and get tired very quickly. I'm thinking maybe it's dehydration or a blood sugar drop. I don't have diabetes. I'm hoping it is something that will improve over time.
