  1. 7 months from my initial phone call to surgery. Mostly due to my insurance company's demands. my band is 10c. I have 3 in there and feel it. 3 oz of protien stay in there for hours. Can't eat beef or pork without pain. Lost 32 pounds and 24 inches already.
  2. You will know if you get food stuck. It hurts. You feel miserable. Nothing but time helps. If it happens, evualte what you ate and how to determine the cause and not do it again. Believe me, you do not want to repeat that experience.
  3. I started walking the day of my surgery. Walked the halls at the hospital, Used the treadmill when I got home. Went back to Curves (slowly) on day ten. Yesterday I started back on the Smart Curves, but am still passing on the abdominal work. If I feel a pull or am sore, i stop. I would think we're all different, so your docotr's right. whenever you feel like it.

    Seriously?!?!?

I've had the same problem. No weight loss ofr days, then suddenly a drop. I't water retention. Your body's holding on to everything going to to ward off starvation according to my dietrician. Hang in there. It does come off. Walk, walk, walk to get your system to let go.
  5. I gained 8 pounds in the hospital. My roommate gained 18! We were both bummed. It went away quickley and now I'm donw 27 pounds since Oct 14th. this has been worth it so far. I have to be careful to get all my protein in, because I forget to eat. I'm just not hungry. My DR prescribed Celebres for pain. I took it for two days, mostly for the shoulder pain from the gas. Didn't do much, unfortunately. I now have to be careful not to overdue it. I feel great and tend to foret I'm less than two weeks out.
  6. I was banded on the 10th. I'm sore still, but each day a little less. Today I'm supposed to be allowed mushy food for the first time. I was so excited, I didn't chew up my vitamins enough and now they're stuck. It's my own fault and there's nothing I can do now until they dissolve and pass through. Live and learn.

    Told to give up coffee

I was told to stop drinking it during pre op and recovery. It ain't gonna happen. It is my only vice. I've cut down from drinking coffee all day to two cups in the morning. My nutritionist says that the studies have shown that caffeine increases your appetite, thus making it harder to lose the weight. I can't say that happens to me. I've even noticed that sometimes if I am hungry, I drink a cup of coffee and it tides me over. My thouhgts are that if you keep it in moderation, you'll be OK.
  8. I had an infection, too. My docotr put me on two weeks of antibiotics and previcid. Once that was gone, I was good to go. My docotr says many people have this infection, but don't know it. It didn't delay my surgery at all. 9 days to go.

    Bought my stuff......

I bought all the bowell prep my surgeon wants me to do next sunday, the chewable vitamins, calcium, broth, and whey protein. I keep looking for better prices on the gas strips. 7.99 for 30 at Rite Aid seems high. I have to wait on the Celebrex and an anti nausea suppository from the drug store. They have to order it. I have plenty of books to read when I get home. The only thing I'm taking to the hospital is slippers, a book, and clothes to go home.
  10. I go in on Nov. 10th. I can't wait. I've been at this since april!. For the next two weeks, I have to keep my calorie count at 800 daily. No fat, no carbs. thank goodness I don't have to do slimfast Like I hear everyon talk about. I do make a protien drink for breakfast, but can each real food the rest of the day. I tried the two drinks and a meal thing and coldn't even stand to be around myself. I'm a counselor. I really need to stay focused and not on my next meal.
  11. After 6 months of jumping hoops, I finally got approved and hve my surgery date set. My problem is that they want me to lose 14 pounds by then. Any ideas? I've been going to Curves and doing the Slim Fast thing, but the scales won't budge. HELP!!

    November 10 date!!!!

I've found EAS whey protein mix and shakes. What a wonderful find! Lunch sure is easier to pack these days. I've lost 4 of the 14 pounds the first week and have increase my days at Curves. Thank you for the tip on the Slim Fast sugar. I hadn't realized just how hungry that made me. I feel satisfied and hopeful. Good luck to other starting this pre op dieting. I just try to remember that it is temporary. Three weeks does go faster than you think.

I'm still jumping the hoops, but hope to get banded before the end o the year. My PCP didn't document that he had me on a diet, so now I have to go through the 3 month program with Kim. the staff has been great so far. I'm starting the support gorup at the Jewish Community Center the last Wed. of the month. I'm hoping that will help me from getting discouraged. How are all of you doing?
  14. I love reading the threads and notice so many of you have tickers on your spot. I got on the ticker web page, but couldnot figure out how to get it on my page. How did you do it?

    Hysterectomy anyone?

i clicked on someone's ticker which took me to the web site. I picked the stuff I liked, copied it went back to my profile and edited the signature. pasted the ticker. Voila! there's probably an easier way, but I'm not very computer savy.

  17. My favorite was when my daughter graduated from DePaul. I went with my husband (who's obese, too.) and my daughter's father came with his wife. The wife whispered (loudly) "I wonder how they do it?" I leaned over and asked her "Why? do you want to watch" I haven't seen her since.
  18. I'm a therapist. I, too talk about those things with my over weight clients, but I also talk about weight loss with those that want to lose. Others who have responded are right, it is your session. It is your life. the purprose of therapy is to get to your goals, not your therapist's. If she has a problem with you losing weight, than maybe she isn't the therapist you need to support you in your goal.
