  2. Hey everyone Just wanted to ask a quick question as I haven't been able to find anything online. I was sleeved on the 8th of February and after 7 months of no period from being on the pill, it finally arrived on the 1st of March. It's now the 28th of April and I'm still on, that's nearly 8 weeks of period (54 days exactly) My doctor wants to see me to get me checked out but I was just wondering if anyone else had been on for this long, and when did it finally end?! Mine seem to be such a tease! They get lighter and lighter and I'll even have nothing for a day then suddenly they'll be heavy again! It's really frustrating as it's making me crave bad foods more than usual. I hope I don't become anemic after all this blood loss [emoji29] Thanks ladies xxx Instagram: @jeez_sleevedlouise Sleeved 8th Feb 2018 HW 238.6 SW 222.6 CW 216 GW 138

    Periods after gastric sleeve

That sounds just like me haha I'm glad your back to normal and yeah I was told my body is probably in shock! Did you see the doctor about it or just let nature run its course? Instagram: @jeez_sleevedlouise Sleeved 8th Feb 2018 HW 238.6 SW 222.6 CW 216 GW 138

    Periods after gastric sleeve

Do you know what, I used to take it at the same time every day until I had surgery, then I chose to just take it with my vitamins when I woke up, but I don't work so I get up at different times. I'm going to set my alarm again and take my pill separately and see what happens, thank you! Instagram: @jeez_sleevedlouise Sleeved 8th Feb 2018 HW 238.6 SW 222.6 CW 216 GW 138

Thank you, yeah I think I should when I get back home, it's ridiculous! If only there was a magic pill that just stopped it in its tracks lol Instagram: @jeez_sleevedlouise Sleeved 8th Feb 2018 HW 238.6 SW 222.6 CW 216 GW 138
  6. This is my first post so my apologies if I've posted in the wrong place! This website seems to keep popping up while I frantically Google advice, so thought it would make sense to sign myself up. On Friday I was accepted for gastric sleeve surgery, and now being accepted after trying to get to this point for over a year my nerves are telling me to back out I'm 26, BMI 42, have polycystic ovary syndrome and apart from asthma no other health problems. I've been battling with my weight for about 6 years now and decided to get surgery after my 3rd Misscarraige and learning that early menopause runs in the family. When I signed up for the surgery, I was in a bad place e.g. Smoking, drinking binge eating. But now that I've been off the cigarettes for a month and cut my alcohol intake by more than half, part of me is thinking if I can do what I've done so far, shouldn't I give the weightloss another go without the surgery? The thought of being young and spending the rest of my 20s being miserable and not being able to go for drinks or meals with friends and family is something that concerns me. It sounds pretty pathetic when I should be thinking more about my health but I can't help but think about it! Will life ever be the same again? Am I prepared mentally for it? My family and partner are 50/50 about it too. Seeing as I don't have any major health problems and I'm fairly young, does that make the risks lower? The risks are also something that keeps spinning in my head And my last question is if I'm this scared and indecisive about the whole thing does that mean I'm not ready yet? I was told by my hospital that if I were to back out, I'd have to do the year long program all over again, and in my head probably won't be accepted again if I had mucked them about last time! I'm sure (well I hope) I'm not the only one that has thought about backing out so if you were like me and decided to go for it or anything similar I'd love to hear your stories/thoughts. I get that only I can make this decision but some encouragement would be really appreciated! Lou xx

    Petrified and indecisive

Hey everyone. I thought I would do a quick update! I am happy to confirm that I got sleeved on the 8th of February and have lost 31lbs since my preop diet! Reading this post has made me laugh. I am so much more informed now, but if it wasn't for everyone that reassured me on here I may of not had it done. So thank you so much for all your advice! Day 4 post op. Dizzy and flemmy

What an amazing response thank you so much. That has made me feel loads better! Yeah I always think about changing the date around to suit the US style as I know the majority of people on here are from there, but since I've already changed my weight to pounds from stones I thought I better keep something uk [emoji23] [emoji23]. I ended up calling the nurse and completely forgot to tell her about the dizzy spell so your comment has been extra helpful, thank you again and looking forward to joining everyone in their success! 10. Hey guys, I'm on quite alot of drugs atm so sorry if there's any confusion with what I'm saying or God awful spelling mistakes Basically I had the gastric sleeve on 08/02/18 and despite being in agony in recovery with indegestion and heart burn for the first 2 hours, everything has been going pretty well. I've had 0 gas pains, been able to keep everything down, my incisions look great and I was discharged after one night. I have usually been having around 4 sleeps during the day and night but yesterday I was having visitors so kept myself awake all day and decided I can have a nice long sleep for the first time since being discharged. Well I ended up sleeping a little too much (around ten hours) and woke up shaking, nauseous, and very dizzy with a high temperature. I sat myself up and kept sipping water before dragging myself to the toilet which was a bit of a struggle. I also noticed my mouth tasted of blood. There was no blood but just green discharge from my throat which I have been coughing up since day one, another small concern. Anyway after sip sip sipping my water I felt much better. I've now took my medication also and am starting to feel back to normal. Was all this because I slept too much and therefore went too long without any water and meds? Is short naps throughout the day and night safer? I'm going to be forcing my naps now lol. Another thing I've noticed is I am now on my period. This is weird for me because the cerelle pill I'm taking had stopped me from having periods. This is my first one in 7 months and the fact its happened now seems either a little weird or just very unlucky lol. Could I also ask how everyone's legs felt after surgery? I have to keep my stockings on for a week now and I'm walking good but to the touch my legs feel like they're bruised. (terrified of blood clots) Now I know there is such thing as Google lol, but unfortunately I have quite bad anxiety and paranoia and have placed myself on a Google ban, because I will make myself ill with worry and assume this is the end for me [emoji29] If none of this sounds normal to any of you I will give my surgeon a call, but it's very hard to tell whether I'm worrying over nothing or not. Thanks so much, this forum is a life saver [emoji18] Louise xxx Instagram: @jeez_sleevedlouise Sleeved 8th Feb 2018 HW 238.6 SW 222.6 CW 222.2 GW 138

    Liquid diet worries

I've been on the liquid diet for about 3 weeks now. My advice is to get out of the house if you want to! I avoided going anywhere where I may be tempted to buy food or a drink and staying at home for 18 days made me very miserable. Then I managed to actually go out to a pub with my family on water and go out shopping and actually found it wasn't too bad! Some people may find that too tempting but just putting out there what is helping for me personally. Just try to live as close to normal as you can without food xx Surgery due January 17th 2018 CANCELED new date February 18th 2018 HW 238 CW 226 GW 138 Instagram: jeez_sleevedlouise

    Struggling with pre op diet

Really yeah that's scary when you know that food cravings lead to complications! To be honest though, I don't know what I would of been like if I just had the surgery when I should have. I would of liked to think that because everything was going as planned I wouldn't of caved in. But it's very hard to say when it hasn't happened! I'm going to try my best to snap out of it. I just had a hot cross bun ffs . Tomorrow will have to be a new day Surgery due January 17th 2018 CW 238 GW 133 Instagram: jeez_sleevedlouise
  17. Hiya guys, this is most probably going to be a long post. Don't say I didn't warn you lol[emoji28] Basically I was scheduled for surgery on the 17th of January in the UK (NHS funded). I had asked for February as it would be more suitable (I was hoping to move) but they rudely told me I can not pick and choose when I get it done. That's fair enough, they're busy, just thought I'd ask. So I had to do a pre op liquid diet for two weeks before. This consists of: 4 pints of semi skimmed milk 2 salty drinks (oxo or bovril) 1-2 sachets of Fibre gel (mixes with water to help you go to the loo) And two pints of other sugar free liquid, this can include 1 sachet of sugar free jelly. It's probably one of the more stricter diets compared to some others but I had done it before OK. 2 days into my diet I got a call saying that my surgery was canceled because of the winter bed crisis. I was a little bit pissed off but shrugged and thought I'll make myself something to eat. Seconds before I started I got a call telling me it was UNcancelled. That was lucky. So back to the liquid diet I went. I forgot that last time I did this liquid diet I was a heavy smoker. I quit cigarettes 3 months prior to be as healthy as possible for surgery. The cravings ontop of having some stresses regarding moving out and other issues at home made the diet really hard. Like really hard. I didn't cheat once though, just had some extra milk one day that I was really hungry. The night before surgery I was prepping myself to take my injection to thin my blood at 6pm. I was told to come into surgery at 7am that morning. Then at about 5pm I got a text on my phone that read: Dear madam, we regret to inform you that your surgery on 17/01/18 has been CANCELED please call the offices on... Bla bla bla My heart sunk. 14 hours before going to hospital they canceled. So unfair, I struggled so much yet tried so hard and did so well. I called them and asked what was going on. They explained that the bed crisis was still happening. I asked what am I to do regarding my liquid diet. The lady said to stay on it until I receive a call and a bed becomes free but when that would be she couldn't say. I was on the liquid diet for four more days in limbo not knowing how much longer I would be having freezing cold jelly and milk for in the winter. It was pretty **** if I'm honest. I got a call on the 19th day of being on liquid from a lady who said that I shouldn't of been told to stay on the liquid diet. There was no way a bed would be available before two weeks, and that Ive been offered the 8th of February. This means that I was allowed for for THREE days and had to do the 2 week liquid diet all over again. The nurse advised me to have a protein rich, low carb no fat diet. Although part of me wanted to scream, punch a wall and raid the fridge for the worst things possible, I ended up doing the opposite. Set up a home gym in my garage to take my emotions out on and stuck to having very healthy food and even some protein shakes in between. Now I'm here, day four of my SECOND pre op diet. 32 days without food in total not including the 3 measly days in between. I'm so gutted that I'm on this situation. A part of me wanted to back out of the whole thing entirely just because of the thought of the liquid diet. I find it so unfair that some people don't even have ANY pre op requirements, and I have to go through this. I'm really starting to struggle. I've called the clinic and asked if I can shrink my liver in a way which includes food but they told me to wait for a phone call back from the nurse. Please tell me that if I have a day off it's not going to effect things too much. My liver must be the size of a pea right now lol! Does it expand again really quickly? Currently getting teary as I'm writing this so going to stop now lol[emoji23] If you've made it this far, thank you for listening to my story, I'm not really sure what answers I'm looking for, I could probably eat **** all day and it wouldn't harm anything so early before. But some consoling would be nice I guess lol Louise xxxx Surgery due January 17th 2018 CW 238 GW 133 Instagram: jeez_sleevedlouise

Awww lovely response thank you! I regret to say that I did cave in. The meal wasn't the worst but could of been better lol. I had 3 rashes of grilled bacon, eggs, tinned tomatoes and coleslaw. I'm still craving more bad food but will try not to give in to it! Just need to hear from the asap so I know if I can go on a low carb diet like most people! I'm so lost right now!

January 17th here! I was in the same boat as you. If I'm completely honest what helped my anxiety was setting up an Instagram account especially for the surgery. Seeing all the other people go through what you will go through and come out better on the other side really helped my anxiety! Part of me does think why can't I just give it one last really good go?! But I know why there's no point, because if I don't see any progress my motivation just completely slacks and I end up getting upset. I have been on my pre op liquid diet for 7 days now and I've already lost 7.6lb. Now I'm seeing progress I don't want to stop! 25. Hey guys, I'm having the sleeve done on the 17th of next month and I haven't bought anything for post surgery yet! I'm seeing posts all over my Instagram feed of cool cooking gadgets and even this machine that turns all your vitimans into a shot but I just wondered what you would class as the basics/must haves. I already have a blender, food scales and a step tracker. Anything else you could add that you couldn't be without now? 🙂 Thanks xx Surgery due January 17th 2018 CW 238 GW 133
