  1. I unfollowed this, but now I'm back with a thought. First off, this thread needs to retire... ya'll are beating a dead horse. Three things never to be discussed (say it out loud with me) 1. Religion 2. Politics 3. Money. Ultimately, it's a proverbial nicety. Do you think twice when people say "God Bless You" or even just "Bless you" after you sneeze. Because this is a religious phrase too, and I know atheists that say "bless you" because its a cultural norm/expectation. I think we've all heard every side of the argument, and I don't think any of the people who said "I'll pray for you" meant it to hurt you or to demoralize your beliefs. I do believe anyone who kept up with this thread will avoid this phrase from here on out. Over and out.
  2. I remember when I finally got to "soft foods" and at 12:01am I went to the 24/7 grocery store and bought a slice of meatloaf w/o the ketchup on top. When I got home, it felt like I had been in the desert without water for weeks. I was literally salivating. Mmmmm, that meatloaf saved me!
  3. I did a lot of smooth soups with my Vitamix and added unflavored protein powder, if there wasn't a lot in it to begin with. I had Greek yogurt or kefir. I also ate refried beans and sprinkled cheese. You could try eggs different ways, because sometimes its about how you cook them. I did tuna w/mayo in my purred stage and chewed really well. I also had mashed potatoes with low sodium gravy and added unflavored protein powder. I sipped on bone broth for something savory. I drank FairLife Milk with sugar free chocolate syrup. You can always do the PB2 powder, instead of actual peanut butter. I put PB2 powder in my shakes and it is pretty yummy without the texture or heaviness on my pouch.
  4. I think I enjoy it more. I'm more apt to try things on in store now, before, it was a hassle and I would just leave red faced, sweating, and disappointed.
  5. This could def be my problem. I chew better now, but I still eat fast.
  6. I also had this, I even went to the ER one time because it was really sharp. They ran a bunch of tests. For me, they never got to the bottom of it. It was on my left side, right under my breast, wrapping around my side. The doc said it was probably from where they pulled the stomach out, which is the correct side, but the incision was a lot lower. Anyway, it went away after about 8 weeks. Save yourself the hassle and the mental headache, and don't worry about it. It's probably normal healing pains.
  7. Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass. RNY is just a "nickname" of sorts.
  8. Nope, I had RNY. I hope that the heat wave breaks as well! We have heat index of 110 degrees yesterday. Doesn't matter how much you lose, 110 degrees sucks at any weight!
  9. We all have those days! It's what makes us human. Glad you are down to earth and can admit when you were grumpy LOL.
  10. Sleeve patients always have an extra week of liquids because their staple line is larger, and more of an area to heal.
  11. Your welcome. I'd recommend asking your doc about carbonation. If you read this article, carbonation is discouraged because most carbonated drinks have calories and the carbonation can cause excess gas. No-where does it say that it can stretch your pouch. https://www.livestrong.com/article/347882-carbonated-drinks-after-a-gastric-bypass/
  12. Sounds like my husband. I still buy him his fruit snacks and ho-ho's. He still finishes a whole pizza to himself. And I nibble on a carrot in jealousy. But I know we are different people and I'm ok with it now.
  13. Here is a website with some good water infused fruit recipes. Looks yummy! I'm sure Pinterest has tons of ideas. https://dailyburn.com/life/recipes/fruit-infused-water-recipes/
  14. I have felt my hunger kick in more in the last two months, I'm 5 months post op tomorrow. It's not nearly as bad as pre op. And sometimes, I still think it's head hunger. The good thing is, that if I can't overcome it, I have a small snack and I'm good again in no time.
  15. I miss chips! I'll have to give this a shot, thanks!
  16. This is a very controversial topic amongst WLS doctors. My program doesn't forbid carbonation.
  17. My poor best friend's husband does the same thing every time she goes on a diet. He more or less sabotages her, not saying your husband did that, but her's does.
  18. This post is beating a dead horse, UNFOLLOWED.
  19. Any luck removing my pic from your profile? Can you change it yourself?
  20. That being said, did you have a shell shock afterwards with the diet progression stages? Because regardless of your program's opinion on liquid pre op diets, you still end up on liquids for nearly 2 weeks after surgery. I have a friend who had RNY, and she had a program similar to yours. She had a really hard time emotionally. I think the biggest difference between us, was our pre op diets. I "grieved" food prior to surgery, which I felt was beneficial since I wasn't being flooded with hormones and trying to recuperate from major surgery.
  21. I'm 5 months post op, and the shade of my scars are still purple. I have 7 "slits". I was also stapled, so my scars look a bit worse than someone who was glued. You can use Mederma or Bio Oil to reduce the color and appearance of your scars.
  22. Girrrlll, yes! My farts are super loud and elongated. I had to apologize to my brother in law yesterday, because I honesty didn't think he would have been able to hear me. We were outside, and it was windy, kids playing in the yard, ect. We were a very fair distance from each other. He heard! Oh he heard!
  23. I never have good luck at Goodwill, its a shame! I can find stuff for the hubby, but not me. I wonder if that will change once I move into standard women's sizes.
  24. I don't any new food allergies. After WLS, you will have food aversions. Meats are often hard to tolerate. You are about 2 months post op, so I would say not to throw in the towel just yet. Make sure that when you try meat, to use a sauce and make sure the meat is moist. As far as bread goes, I would steer clear. I do eat whole grain bread, only, in moderation. But bread is a slippery slope for carbs. Also, if you do have whole grain bread, try toasting it. Eggs are tough for me depending on how they are made. I hear a lot of people say that they can't eat eggs post surgery.
