@336Mike So glad you're back here posting with us. Now never go away again dude!!! You look AHHHHH-may-zing!!! Congrats on all your hard work. I'm so sorry to hear about your medical issues. It's easy to get down and isolate when you have to deal with feeling poorly and healing plus all the doc visits/hospitals etc. So glad your TT surgery is back on and SO close! Wooot! Can't wait to follow your journey hon! BTW, we're pretty fond of your geeky tattooed self.

I haven't been on here in a long time. I got very sick in the fall. Severe pain out of the blue and passed out one night and woke up on my bathroom floor. I'm stubborn as hell and went to the Dr. 3 days later, because you know, I was feeling a little better day by day so why bother going?? [emoji848] I was admitted to the hospital for several days with a severe infection and dx with diverticulitis. Thankfully days of IV antibiotics got me on the right track...if not I was looking at surgery to remove a section of my colon. Then I had a never ending UTI which is very unusual for a male. Turns out I had 3 different bacteria in my system, 2 of which could only be picked up from a hospital setting. More antibiotics and a trip to an infectious disese specialist and roughly half a year later I'm finally cured!
I've been able to maintain my weight pretty well but was disappointed to postpone my TT that was scheduled for last fall. I know, I know, my health and recovery from the other stuff was way more important. And, there is a reason for everything!
I'm thrilled to finally be 30 days out from my TT surgery on 8/21. Truly can't wait for this milestone on my journey to be complete! [emoji847] Maybe I'll work up the guts to post before and after pics. 🤷‍♂️
In any event, I shut the world out for a while so it's good to be back to my nerdy, tattooed, quirky self!

Thanks for the response. Yes, I am cleared by my Dr. Only 18 pounds from my personal goal weight...already way past the Dr's goal weight. He thinks I'm on the right track.

I currently run 3-5 miles and can comfortably run/walk 12 miles. The challenge with the trail half is the frequent changes in elevation. I'm looking forward to that challenge.

When I run/walk I only have Water I physically carry with me. That's not practical on this event. Thinking maybe a camel pack our something would help?? I have not "fueled" up with certain foods before any of my activities. Still eating very high Protein and some veggies...which is why I'm looking for advice.

My goal for this is to finish...I don't care if I'm last...lol. It's something I've always dreamed of being able to do and I'm close to realizing my goal. The old me just couldn't. The new me can do anything I put my mind to.

    Old me gone forever!!

I am stepping way out of my comfort zone to do something I have always dreamed of. I'm signing up to do a trail half marathon! http://usnwc.org/play/whitewater-race-series/upcoming/the-new-south-trail-marathon/
Already checked with the race director to make sure it was okay that I walked part of it. I know for sure there's no way I could run the whole thing. My plan is to run a mile or two walk a mile or two. I don't care if I come in last for my age group, my goal is to finish!
Any tips for me on staying hydrated during the race and what to eat before/during/after the race?

Im 39 days away from my 1 year surgiversary and couldn't be happier with my results. I was able to spend 10 days hiking/roaming in England, Ireland & Scotland in July with my oldest son. The most real comment he made to me was 3 days into the trip when we got done with several miles and were sitting in Green Park outside Buckingham Palace. He looked at me and said we never could've done this when I was fat! Ouch...but so true. So glad I decided to get healthy and live life to the fullest!

Who will like you skinny? From my experience it'll be a mix. Some will be people who wouldn't have had anything to do with you at your current weight. That's ok, people are entitled to like what they like. Others won't care one way or the other. You are a beautiful woman. The key is finding someone who likes you for you and vice versa. At the end of the day, don't worry if they're going to like you...you should really be asking yourself if they are worthy of you.
