It just dawned on me that yesterday was one year since my VSG. Here are a couple of progress pics and screenshots of my smart BMI charts.
As of this morning, I've lost 112.4lbs. At 5'8", my measurements are 39"-28"-39". I'm not sure what they were at my heaviest of 170lbs. When clothes shopping, I reach for a size 6, but of course every store/brand is different.
Without doubt, I am thrilled with my progress. Still a few pounds away from my goal.
I have never been normal weight as an adult and I must admit that my self-image is quite skewed. The numbers don't match what I perceive in the mirror. It's definitely weird.
I love to run and move now. It feels amazing and freeing. My body can do things that I've haven't experienced in decades.
This surgery was worth every hard-earned cent it cost me. I am grateful every day for my good fortune. Thank you to everyone here at BP for allowing me to vent and hopefully help others in turn.

I jumped on the scales today and I wanted to see how much damage I'd done over the Christmas period. Thank god, I didn't go backwards and I can actually report a weight loss bringing my total to 45.4 kgs which equals 100 pounds.
    100 pounds gone for EVER!
I've never lost this much weight in my life!

I'm in the same boat a you when it comes to how your Dr. Handles things. The practice that did my surgery had a very intense program with group classes, several 1:1 meetings with RD and personal trainers, psych evals, etc. preop. Postop We have more RD follow up meetings, etc. We had binders for all the info to reference back...still, people forget and post to our private FB group questions that are covered countless times in all the meetings.

I also know of a practice the next county over that does none of these items...if you meet your insurance requirements you have surgery and then sent home on your own.

To sum it up, I guess some people genuinely do not know and some may just forget or aren't really paying attention during their preop classes, etc.

Hi guys today marks one year since I was sleeved. It was quite the journey but I'm so glad I took it. Whenever I have to scroll on here or ask a question I always see people saying they don't have a support system. I didn't either.. I only had one person which was my mom. All you need is ONE person. It can be your doctor, parents, sibling, spouse etc. Don't let anyone or their opinions stop you from changing your life for the better. I'm glad I didn't fall into that trap. [emoji173]️

Thanks Mike! That does help clarify! Then too...reading comprehension/literacy may also be a factor I hadn't really considered. I have a huge binder! LOL. And I will also have 1:1 meetings post-op as well as my pre-op ones. I didn't have to do group meetings and they are so far away and at night, so I'm glad!
I was just really wondering how on earth this happens and how people handle it. I'd be scared spitless if I couldn't read/re-read all this boatload of stuff in the binder! *scratches head--which is better than scratching butt*

336Mike reacted to JerseyJules in I’ve regained ALL the weight back 😢♀️
The bottom line is that we are all obese for different reasons, be it medical, physical or emotional reasons. But once you identify the reason and deal with those demons it makes things a bit easier to deal with. The surgery is only a tool to deal with the issues that you need to address on your own first. No amount of surgery will make you want to exercise, eat right and be healthy , you have to want that on your own.
My wake up call was watching family members die at young ages due to health complications from being obese and I wanted to be around for my family. If that is not reason enough to want to be healthy and you still choose to not make the efforts to live healthy and longer, at least have the courtesy to get a large life insurance policy on yourself so that your family will be taken care of when you're gone...

Oh gosh, sexting *covering my eyes*. I’m the worst at that. Its one thing to talk dirty in the bedroom, but to type it out...wait for a response... We do too much with our phones as is. Not my cup of tea.

Dating is so hard these days. I commend you for wanting to do an activity for a first date. Something to keep the awkwardness to a minimum.
