  1. I was surprised to find out their office was closing with such short notice. No matter what kind of opportunity that was offered to him, it really seems like a disservice to both his patients and employees to close the office without proper warning. Luckily, I only get checked out once a year and I can wait until something else is set up locally again. kkua- I am happy to see another clinic might be opening in Valdosta... I really wasn't looking forward to having to drive to Jacksonville for appointments again... although I really loved Baptista and will go back there if nothing opens up here. What I really and surprised by is that I called the Jacksonville office last Wednesday to ask if there were any support group meetsings in Valdosta, and they didn't mention the closure to me. On Friday, I received the notice in the mail.

    I'm back!!!

Congratulations! Fairy... I never posted much on here but I followed your last pregnancy. My band baby was born in October. I have just got back down to the weight I was before I got pregnant. (not the low weight of my pregnancy since I lost 20 pounds at the beginning of my pregnancy.) It has been a bit harder since I had the baby... but I am getting back on track. I hate that I lost 15 months... but it is all good. Good luck with this pregnancy. I hope all is well.
  7. Congrats Fairy... Carson is absolutely beautiful. Heather I hope I actually look pregnant, you are so cute! I went last week and had .5 cc of my fill taken out. I didn't think it would make that much of a difference... but it has been huge. Before I had it removed I was having a hard time eating anything. Even when I ate pudding my restriction would kick in. I couldn't eat any meat except ground beef and salad was out of the question. The baby has been growing fine, but I was just not comfortable with not being able to eat enough even when I was hungry. Since I found out I was pregnant I dropped for 204 to 188. I am hoping that I can keep most of it off... but will not be too upset to gain. Hope everyone is doing well. Kris
  8. Well, I believe that my doctor wanted us to wait a year. That said, he told me that it wouldn't hurt to get pregnant sooner. I got pregnant five months after surgery, I had lost 57 pounds since the surgery and 80 pounds total. Since getting pregnant I have lost another 20 pounds. I am about 40 pounds from goal now. I am not trying to lose weight, it is just coming off in spite of me. Do I suggest you wait until goal until you get pregnant... hell yeah! But, my husband is military and trying to plan a child around his deployments so he will be home for the birth is just about impossible.

Should I get a fill now??

I actually had my last fill after I got pregnant. I just didn't know it yet. My doctor said there was no reason to worry about getting rid of any of my fill unless I got to the point I could not eat or it was affecting the growth of the baby. I am under the impression that my obgyn plans on doing monthly ultrasounds to make sure everything is growing okay... which I am prefectly fine with. I am here first band patient and she wants to follow things closely... which I am supportive of. So, I think if you need a fill you should get a fill. If you later need to get rid of some, then get rid of it later.
  10. Everything is going fine. I go in for an ultrasound tomorrow to see if we can hear/see a heartbeat. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I still seem to be losing quite a bit of weight. I have lost 15 pounds since I got pregnant. I can't seem to eat enough to keep from losing weight. I will hopefully be able to talk to the doc tomorrow and find out if she thinks I need to do something. Hope everyone is doing well. Kris

    Yet another pregnant bander

Thanks for the congrats Laura. I have my first OBGYN appointment this afternoon and look forward to seeing what he says. I do not want to put my baby at any risk, but this month I have lost 9 pounds without really trying much... I know I have been eating more carbs than usual and have been snacking between meals. I also have an appointment with my band doctor next week and will discuss taking out the last fill he put in at the beginning of this month. What are you using as a prenatal Vitamin? Is there a smaller or liquid vitamin? Thanks, Kris
  12. Hi everyone. My name is Kris and I just found out that I am pregnant. I have been banded for a little more than 5 months when I got knocked up. I can't say that I was "trying" it was more like if it happens it happens. I only adopted that philosophy for the month before my husband deploys (he is Air Force and leaving on a six month deployment in a few days) because it was the only way we could insure that he could be here for the birth. I honestly didn't think I would get pregnant so soon after going off the pill, and figured that if I did get pregnant without actively trying that it was meant to be. I called my band doctor last week and he said he didn't see any reason for me to be unfilled unless I was having problems eating or throwing up, neither which I am having. I spoke to my OBGYN and he said he didn't see a problem with me continuing to lose weight through the pregnancy as long as the baby was doing fine and I wasn't losing loads. I have an appointment next week with my band doc and will probably request that he remove some of my fill so I can eat a bit more... but not too sure about it. I don't mind not losing for the next 8 months, I just would like to not gain too much either. But, in the end the goal is to have a healthy baby. I look forward to learning more about your pregnancies too. Kris

When is support not really support?

I didn't call you a battle axe. That was one of the attack dogs. No, my husband is military and has been working 12 hour days, he just didn't feel like leaving the house. I was just trying to be lazy because I am at the point now where it doesn't bother me to make food that I will not eat. He knows it and I know it. In the beginning it would bother the heck out of me, but I just put my willpower to work. Now it is a non-issue. You will get there it is just really something you have to work through, and then it will become habit.

When is support not really support?

Fair enough. I just wanted to point out that sometimes the lapband journey can be harder for the spouse than people realize. I know I was on liquids the other day after my fill and I had to go home to make dinner for my husband. I asked him to just take our son out to eat and he insisted that he wanted me to make something. At first I was upset and then I had to remember that being a mom and wife was my job and I had to make dinner. I just hate making food I can not eat, but I have adjusted and it has gotten easier. Good luck in your journey.
