  1. I've lost 72 lbs. since having gastric sleeve surgery in June of 2017. These are the changes I've made this year. I no longer drink carbonated beverages. I don't eat bread, pasta, rice, tortillas or chips. I rarely indulge on alcohol or sugar. I only eat from a very small bowl or small dessert plate, using a teaspoon. I drink two protein shakes a day. I track all my food intake and activity. I am finding new ways to be fit. I recently started training for a 5k, and added weights back into rotation. Surgery is only a tool. It takes constant effort to lose and maintain weight. While I'm far from the end of this journey, my overall health and well-being have improved dramatically and I am ever so greatful to have my life back again! 6 month post op updates?

Thank you. The weight is coming off fast these days. I'm already down 75 lbs. I think running 3 days a week is really helping. This is definitely a permanent lifestyle change for me. I feel great! Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    6 month post op updates?

Good luck! Each 10 lb. increment has gotten significantly harder. I just take frequent pictures and I watch my weight trend graphs for motivation. We can compare again in a few months. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

Thank you. I'm hoping to lose about 30 or so more lbs. Keeling it off will be the challenge. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    North New Jersey Peeps!

I'm not in New Jersey, but I had the sleeve in June and I would do it all over again. I stayed in the hospital one night, only because I reacted badly to the anesthesia. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. I had surgery in June. I went through slow periods, so I went back to the basics...I track my food intake on MyFitnessPal, I track my exercise with FitBit, and I started to really increase my cardio. The plateaus eventually break and I start losing again. After all, no one said it would be easy. My surgeon told me I the surgery would help me lose about 75 lbs., but I needed to lose about 30 percent more and it would all be on me. Good luck! Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. I went to my sister's surgeon and the day I got approval from insurance his office called to tell me he had quit the practice. I was a little panicked, but they gave me choice of three other surgeons and they scheduled me for a meet and greet right before my surgery. In the end I choose Nick Nicholson, and he did a great job, no issues. However, all my follow ups have been with his NP and PAs, so make sure you like the practice, not just the surgeon. Training for a 5k

Wow it took me six months to take off enough weight to feel comfortable with running. Keep up the good work! Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. I started training myself to run a 5k this week, using an app. I have never been able to run before. I 've lost enough weight now that I can run and I am so addicted. Maybe someday I can be a marathon runner. Woo hoo! Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    I haven't told anyone

My sister and many others I know paved the path for me. However, I was very vocal with everyone about having the surgery. I would do it all over again. It's dramatically improved my health and wellbeing and I have my confidence back! Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

  15. I am 4 months post op. I am very happy with my weight loss, though it feels like it's going slow. I am down 53 lbs. I started back doing cardio after 6 weeks post op and I am addicted to exercise. Again, I feel fabulous and all my health indicators are great. I just wonder if others are experiencing slow weight loss. My doctor said all that matters is how I feel. I have to admit that it is really exciting to fit in a size 16 again!
